neurontin

1623704 tn?1300452745 But after two weeks, enough was enough and I called my doctor and said I am literally spinning and terribly dizzy). Switched to Neurontin. Did Neurontin for about a month and felt it was not helping much if at all, and went back to Lyrica at a LOWER dose. 75mg at night. Much better now, with Lyrica and LOWER dose.
653169 tn?1303446369 ve been told the start up side effects on Neurontin are about the same as Lyrica and it took me a little less than a week for that sleepy dopey feeling to subside, and after that I felt ABSOLUTELY normal- like I hadn't taken anything whatsoever. You are on a very SMALL dose, so you'll adjust to it quickly. I'll tell you a funny story- my first week on Lyrica- I accidentally backed out of my garage when the garage door was only half way open.
Avatar f tn Anyone have any side effects from starting neurontin or suggestions on how to adapt to using it. It's kicking my butt so far, so only taking it at night but a bit zoozy in the mornings. Am on 300mg, have titration orders but don't want to add any more at the present until I adjust to this night dose. anyone?
Avatar f tn Yes it has lots of side effects. Everyone does not get them all just be aware. I am on 16 drugs and keeping up with all the side effects and counter effects with other drugs is a nightmare. My Doctors who are prescribing them get confused at the counteractions. Also make sure you ask a Pharmacist before you take something for heartburn or a cold sometimes those drugs interact. Just do not ever just stop taking it. You have to taper off with a Doctor or Pharmacists help.
Avatar f tn I took neurontin for approx 10 years. It helped with my muscle spasms a great deal. I finally developed a tolerance to it up to the maximum recommended dosage, so switched to a different med. But it worked very well for me, with low side effects. Good luck.
Avatar f tn The numbness, pain and tingling is called neuropathy. This side effect can last for a relatively short time, or be permanent. It has been about a year since my last treatment with taxotere (carboplatin and about 3 mos. since I finished Herceptin.) We cut the treatments by two sessions due to the neuropathy. My face was going numb, plus my hands and feet. I still have some numbess and tingling, but it has gotten less over time and the numbness in my face is gone completely.
Avatar f tn Did you taper off the vibryd or quit abruptly? You can't just switch from one medication to another even in the same class and avoid withdrawal -- these meds are not easy to stop taking and it must be done carefully. Unless you completely stop taking a medication before starting another it's impossible to tell if your symptoms are a sign you're suffering withdrawal and quit too quickly or are side effects of the new medication.
9704730 tn?1405741284 I still take 1200 mgs and there are days when I feel the strange side effects of Neurontin. Please include your prescribing dr in any discontinuance of your meds. Good Luck to you and go for it.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking neurontin for anxiety? I was started on it almost 3 weeks ago...I was started out only on 100mg at bedtime, now I"m taking 200mg. Has anyone had any horrible side effects? After the 200mg I feel sort of drugged and really sleepy (although it didn't help me sleep, odd.) Just wondering what your experiences are.
1983221 tn?1333506185 I also applaud Gabapentin (neurontin) it works well for me also but does take some tapering or getting used to, I should say
Avatar f tn I was given some sample bottles to try, but after reading the possible side effects and the possible effects from stopping its use, I decided to try some other ways of dealing with my neuropathy.
Avatar f tn I was taken off Lyrica a week ago do to an allergice reaction .My Neurologist said it works on some but more than half his patients using it for pain management, restless leg and fibromyalgia, had so many side effects they have stopped taking it.
Avatar f tn You can also try other meds. Even over-the-counter dramamine can be used for dogs. Reglan and phenergan are two other considerations. As with any medication, make sure you check with your vet first. Does your dog actually throw up on car trips? Is there a certain amount of time it takes to get really sick or is it immediate? You're doing a great job taking Rocky on short trips to get him used to car travel.
Avatar f tn t have any severe side effects of concern, some dizziness, fatigue, nervousness and some minor nausea, all of which might have gone away in time if I had stayed on it longer. The only part that was annoying was the fact (don't know if its that way for every use) for it to work it had to be taken four times a day which was hard to remember but could be solved by keeping a pill box and/or other reminder devices.
Avatar f tn ve been taking it for two years, and I also started out on Lyrica, but becuz of cost I had to switch. Neurontin has only been around for about 15 years, so for at least for that length of time you're good. The only normal wierdness I know about is withdrawals, so you have to taper slowly over several weeks' time. I should think if this medicine is fogging up your day to where it bothers you or you cannot get used to it, your doc may need to switch to a different pain reliever.
1831849 tn?1383228392 I have taken gabapentin for neuropathic foot pain. It worked well for a while, in tandem with Elavil. I had no side effects, but it eventually stopped working, so I swithed to another anti-seizure med called Lyrica. Anyone else have gabapentin experience to share?
1310633 tn?1430224091 I never tried neurontin (or "morontin" as it's also known for mental side effects) but I did try topomax for a while. Topomax is a similar medication. I got every side effect listed including tongue paralysis. These meds can be a great blessing or a great curse and there is no telling how a patient will react to them. They act on the central nervous system, so weird things can crop up. Usually you need to titre up slowly and taper off slowly.
Avatar m tn I was initially on pain meds (tramadol and vicadin) but got off due to bad side effects. Flexeril helps for a short term and helps then with sleep. I am also on NSAIDS. BUt finally got on a new transdermal cream with Ketamine and Ibupropin. You can't take Ketamine orally or you get hallucinations and Ibupropin kills my stomach. So far the cream has helped some. I would like to know more about your symptoms and what happened. Because it sounds similar.

459075 tn?1224121598 I have been on the neurontin for over 3 months now so i dont really think it could be a side effect from that. Anyone got any advise?
Avatar f tn My German Shepherd was recently prescribed incurin and it has caused her not to eat and a little bit aggressive and scared... She also was running around with her hackles up and starting fights with my other dogs...She only had 3 or 4 days of it and then I took her off of it this last Sunday was her last dose...She still is not wanting to eat and not 100% back to herself? How long do the side effects last...It was taking me an hour and a half to get her to eat 2 cups of food...
620877 tn?1282764097 For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....
Avatar f tn I do not know that this surgery is available yet for dogs, or whether or not there are any canine neurosurgeons who would perform it, but if it does exist, my guess is that it would still be cost-prohibitive for anyone but the wealthiest pet owners or people who have pet health insurance. A change in appetite is a common side effect of phenobarbital. Some dogs eat less and have to be cajoled into eating, others become voracious and can't seem to eat enough.
Avatar f tn Typically the side-effects include somnolence, dizziness, and imbalance. Since you have been using Neurontin for 9 years, there does not seem to be a problem continuing it, even at a slightly increased dose. Also, Neurontin is not known to be triggering/escalating Alzheimer's disease. Best..
