Neurontin for benzo withdrawal

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin for benzo withdrawal

neurontin

Avatar n tn I am currently tapering from 30+ mg methadone and 20_ hydros a day using neurontin and a few hydros for pain. So far so good. Sub was simply too complex for me to deal with....
Avatar m tn The clonidine patch takes a bit longer to work than a pill. A couple of days minimum for the best results, at least for me. The neurontin should help all of the things you listed as far as neurological symptoms, I'd think. If you aren't better somewhat by Monday, I'd call the doctor and ask about raising the dose. 900 mg a day is quite a bit to start off on, so just be careful of sedation. Especially with the patch added to it!
Avatar m tn Chunk there is hardly anyone on line right now here, so you might have to wait. I don't have a lot of knowledge about Neurontin, the rest of the meds sound pretty intense to be taking all at the same time imo, but I am not really qualified to answer fully. these are all prescribed by the same doctor? if not, is there one doctor who knows your complete medical history?
Avatar m tn Neurontin is an NSAID, an non steroidal anti inflammatory drug. It is not a benzo. It is not on the schedule and they don't test for it. Why do you ask?
Avatar f tn I was prescribed Requip for RLS, which I had so bad with my Tramadol withdrawal, I would rock and bounce for hours during both the day and night. I had RLS for at least 6 hours or more a day for almost a month. I took the Requip for the first 40 days, now I take it 2x a week. My doc said after I hit 2 months or more off the opiates, we can talk about me jumping off the Requip all together.
Avatar f tn I believe the earlier drug Neurontin is used more often for anxiety. Don't know about Lyrica being used for this.
1691275 tn?1322327507 ve been off Klonopin for three months, with one five-day cheat session early on - so more like two months; off Ambien for two months; and off Neurontin, which never did anything anyway, for a month. See, this is why I joined this group. My case certainly is a complicated one but it's helpful hearing things like "textbook w/d" and "xanax is really wicked to come off of." I think I even experienced a *window* or two last week, but I can't be sure...
Avatar f tn Google Ativan and ringing in the ears, rondoo. The ringing is a w/d symptom and Ativan, being a short term benzo will keep you in perpetual withdrawal until your next dose. Keep a diary of when the ringing is at it's worst and I will bet it's time for your dose of Ativan. I have severe ringing after coming off Neurontin last Dec, but I had tinnitus to begin, probably from Xanax now that I'm thinking about it, although not to this extent.
Avatar m tn Nerve pain is why I am on it. Mayo Clinic gave it to me. They diagnosed it as pudendal neuropathy. I now think it is withdrawal from Xanax that was given to me for sleep during chemo for breast cancer. It helped for a little while, but doesn't anymore. Benzo withdrawal can cause burning nerve pain.

Avatar f tn I have been on Percocet for 10 years and then was taking Ultram to not have withdrawal but after reading all the horror stories on here about Ultram, I tried the Neurontin. I have been on it for 3 days and no withdrawal symptoms whatsoever. I am shocked. I heard it is not addictive either so I'm staying on it for a week or two and then stopping to see if the Perc are out of my system.
Avatar f tn Got some neurotin quit everything cold turkey amd been perfectly fine for the past month. So yes it works for withdrawal symptoms!
Avatar f tn I have available about 10 1 mg xanax so I am going to do the best I can with what I have. I have read horror stories about withdrawal and I have a highly stressful job, also due to the benzo addiction I have brain fog and make silly mistakes, I feel shame at work. So does anyone have any ideas on how to make this manageable? I want my life back and I want to be able to function.
Avatar n tn so you are familiar with neurontin?
Avatar f tn I am taking it for sleep problems but i also take Neurontin for seizure issues. I feel like I have lost some sexual desire and now no orgasm. Should I go off the Clonazepam ? Is that the problem sexually ?
Avatar f tn I just want people struggling with the debilitating side effects of vicodin withdrawal know that they don't have to suffer. Ask your doctor for neurontin or gabbbapentin. I am a 3 year severe (20-30) norco addict and I decided to stop the maddness but was afraid of the muscle pain i've felt before. With neurontin I have none of those spasms cramps or depression and mood swings. It also gives me no "high" feeling at all so its not a temptation for abuse or addiction.
Avatar n tn can topomax be used for opiate (percocet) withdrawal? I have heard that ultram is good for that but then you are addicted to the ultram. I also heard neurontin is helpful and that topomax is similar so I wondered if anyone had tried topomax for withdrawal.
Avatar f tn I was on Neurontin for several years too, that one I had to get off of, it did help me at the time with nerve damage, but ins. refused to pay for it as it was 300 for 250 pills back then. Easy for me to say no to that one then. I don't know about oxy, or dilaudid, never took those, but know they are really heavy duty drugs. I would go talk to your doctor, if you are ready to get control of your life, tell him what your going thru, see if he can help somehow!!
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
986593 tn?1283532211 I took Lyrica for a couple of months, awhile back, did not notice the habit forming thing, did notice the out-of-pocket cost. So my Dr. put me on Neurontin 600 mg three times a day. I only wish it did give me energy, or any kind of a buz cause it would have been nice after detox. I think the Neurontin has helped me with my nerve pain, and has helped put alot of weight on me, with the Cymbalta and Remeron.
Avatar m tn Hi there & welcome! Thanks for posting. The really good news is that from what you've described so far, you sound like you're 'medically dependent' as opposed to an addict. (ie. you never took more than prescribed, in fact, you requested less.) So, if you can just get through the w/d's there's every chance that you'll walk away & never look back. (Good news, indeed.
Avatar f tn Hi I detoxed off of heroin with no suboxone or methadone.I used neurontin and a very low dose benzo for the first few days after that my detox was the same or less strenuous as detoxing from oxy.
Avatar f tn s as they were intended to be used ........ I do agree that zanax isnt the best benzo to use for immediate withdrawal symptoms ..... its mechanism of action is very short term .... valium or librium or one of several others would be better..........there are quite a few things to help with withdrawal - - you dont have to get even deeper in trouble....
