neurontin

Avatar f tn As I said Zoloft was a wonderful drug for me and worked great for my panic attacks and anxiety to where they were completely gone for years, and it may not work for you at all. You just need to try and see what happens that is the best you can do!!
Avatar n tn Anyone taking neurontin for anxiety? I was started on it almost 3 weeks ago...I was started out only on 100mg at bedtime, now I"m taking 200mg. Has anyone had any horrible side effects? After the 200mg I feel sort of drugged and really sleepy (although it didn't help me sleep, odd.) Just wondering what your experiences are.
Avatar n tn The last time i quit the percs (109 days ago) i stayed on the neurontin for 2 weeks. getting off of it is pretty nasty, you sweat a LOT and have anxiety (do some research on neurontin withdrawal). It will help you with the WD but be careful your body doesn't become dependant on that as well, because stopping the neuro is hell also.
Avatar f tn This is all so interesting and I thank you for sharing. I take Neurontin ONLY at night bc it helps me sleep but I otherwise hate the way the drug makes me feel. It surprises me that it is abused, but that would explain why lyrica is controlled-it must have some abuse potential. The kicker on this all is that I don't have an addictive personality. I allowed myself to become addicted this time, but I'm in my late 40's. If I ever get out of this mess,I'm not going back.
Avatar m tn i have not done any oxy for about 10 days now but my anxiety has not even started to go away. i read a few times on this forum about people mentioning neurontin. i do have access to this (800mg tablets) but i havent tried it yet was hoping someone would have some more information on how this could help keep me off opiates?
Avatar n tn m surprised to hear about neurontin as a street drug. I take it for anxiety. At a low dose it seems to help, and at night I take a higher dose at night to help me sleep -- though I'd rather not take anything. It just makes me really groggy and sometimes gives me a "hangover" the next morning. It also causes wicked drymouth. Certainly not a drug I'd have any thought of abusing. At higher doses, it tends to make people slow and "dumb.
1689696 tn?1305819097 I am going to see my primary doc on 6/13/11 for severe anxiety/ panic attacks. I would like to know what anxiety meds I should AVOID while taking the neurontin? Thanks to all who answer.
Avatar f tn I believe the earlier drug Neurontin is used more often for anxiety. Don't know about Lyrica being used for this.
9704730 tn?1405741284 I was addicted to them for a while and it took at least 30 days for the physical withdrawals to ease up, as far as the neurontin goes my dr tried it on me but I got really sick after a couple doses and had to stop taking it, sorry I couldn't be more help. Hang in there!!
Avatar m tn I did some research on it when I got home and actually found that lyrica is approved in eroupe for anxiety. I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.
1134609 tn?1269272200 So, I have been on ever increasing doses of Neurontin for years now; it's been my stand by as an anti-anxiety drug and a mood stabilizer (I'm BP2) However, it seems like I develop a tolerance to it pretty quickly and when I do so, each dose jacks up my anxiety level like you wouldn't believe. I got off of it a few years ago for that very reason.. My shrink and I want to use it as the primary 'downer' medication for me, but it's driving me nuts.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
2097395 tn?1333262190 Neurontin should not be prescribed for panic disorder. It is classified as an anticonvulsant and commonly prescribed for nerve pain and seizure disorders. It does have sedetary properties however not thought to have addictive qualities. Maybe you have developed a psychological dependence based on the sedating effects. This is a medication that should not be stopped abruptly to prevent seizures. I encourage you to talk to your doctor about taking a medication that is specific for panic disorder.
1310633 tn?1430224091 I never tried neurontin (or "morontin" as it's also known for mental side effects) but I did try topomax for a while. Topomax is a similar medication. I got every side effect listed including tongue paralysis. These meds can be a great blessing or a great curse and there is no telling how a patient will react to them. They act on the central nervous system, so weird things can crop up. Usually you need to titre up slowly and taper off slowly.
Avatar f tn I've been taking neurontin (gabapentin) for several years, for a nerous system damage condition. It gives me some relief. A for side affects, none that I can say. Completely non - habit forming in my use, and I've been taking 1600mg daily for many years. I honestly don't feel any affects from it. In my opinion, it is a safe drug.
1843685 tn?1319457503 You'll find mixed reviews on all AD's as we all respond differently to the medications and what works for one may not for another. It's trial and error as to what will work for each of us so all you can do is give it a try and see how you do...it's this way for all these types of medications. Work closely with your doctor when starting a new medication and address any concerns you may have with him.....
2033870 tn?1329481339 I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
1474625 tn?1371097079 Thanks for your post! I definitely needed to get off the tramadol because I've had major issues with it in the past. I have never been addicted to any drug in my life, not even any full agonist opiate/traditional opiate (tramadol works differently than any other opiate and medical experts have no idea how it works fully, they didn't even classify it as an opiate when it was first developed, but it definitely is!).
1088430 tn?1259159773 me up b/c of the combo w/ the neurontin? Would it be better for anxiety if I took Cymbalta in the am?
1134609 tn?1269272200 I am currently stuck between a rock and a hard place. I am on 1600mgs of Neurontin (400mgs a day) and it has been working as a good mood stabilizer for me. In fact, we realized that the issues I was having in March were related to bouncing around on that dosage. I was given 1200mgs a day (mandatory) and 400mgs to take as needed to sleep. When I quit chewing I stopped taking the extra dose because I felt that I didn't need it; then I started cycling with the sun again.
Avatar n tn I am currently tapering from 30+ mg methadone and 20_ hydros a day using neurontin and a few hydros for pain. So far so good. Sub was simply too complex for me to deal with....
Avatar f tn ve been on Neurontin, I would highly doubt that the med is the culprit here. The symptoms you describe could be a result of a whole lot of things. Anxiety, for one, like you mentioned, you be the cause (or a contributing factor)...a virus...a simple change in your digestive patterns, GERD ("reflux"), etc etc. Before you "decide" that the Neurontin is to blame, go to your doctor and have an assessment. Rule out other issues first. You may even have to give it some time..
Avatar f tn Lyrica has been found useful by some for both pain and anxiety management. Neurontin does similar but with a much higher med amount required. There's somewhat of a mix here as a benzo is often prescribed for restless leg syndrome. Not to prescribe, but you may wish to ask Dr. about low dose Klonopin and Lyrica simultaneously. Best wishes in this! Russ PS 'Cybalta' is another possibility to ask about.
Avatar m tn What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
