Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin for anxiety reviews

neurontin

been told Fibro and not fibro, Spondylosis and not spondylosis,Lupus and not lupus, porphyria and not porphyria, Ms and not Ms, Stress and not stress, anxiety and not anxiety, migrane variant and then not...I am sure you can see a pattern here. You are not alone and you may never get an exact answer..Just avoid the antidepressants..Neurotin and Elavil help sometime...But be careful about the drugs like Paxil,Buspar,Zoloft,Serazone..
I've never had any experience with this new drug and I have read a wide range of reviews for nerve pain. Some said the side effects were awful and had to stop taking it but others said it was amazing and got rid of RLS and creepy crawlies (mainly from opiate withdrawals). I'm wondering if anyone here has taken it for the nerve pain from a herniated disc and how long does it take for it to start relieving pain?
It was prescribed for anxiety, occasional pain in my shoulder, and headaches. I found that it didn't help me much and gave me more headaches but it may have been the combination of the cymbalta and the paxil I was taking at that time.
I have been having severe anxiety since before I quit taking the klonopin. I am also on neurontin and last night my psych. put me on trileptal. I'm going crzy and can' take anymore.
I did some research on it when I got home and actually found that lyrica is approved in eroupe for anxiety. I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.
My dr. told me that Lyrica is more widely used for anxiety than Neurontin. Neurontin is used for major depressive order off label. Lyrica is really effective for GAD.
From my research, nothing I have read has eased my mind about these meds. I thought I had found a solution in neurontin but after reading reviews, heck not. I wonder if there is a really really light weight SSRI type medicine that is easy to get off if needed. Meaning I don't have to take the dam thing for 4months then get brain zaps etc.
I feel like that's too much. I already plan on seeing a therapist back home for anxiety/relaxation therapy and hopefully get a psychiatrist that I can trust, because I don't trust this one. please help, I'm a wreck..
What gets me is that the med i am on and the dosage is for neuropathic pain not anxiety or stress. My mother has fibromyalgia and for almost a decade complained of pain but was told it was anxiety, which fair enough for her she does have some issues where that is concerned. However I do not!
As you can see that didn't work and got into pain management where they did injections, epidural steriod, then they got me hooked on MsCotin which is the Morphine er. I am on cymbalta for my depression and anxiety, lamictal for that as well. I was on gabapentin but weaned myself off of that. I never took as much as the pain med doctor told me to take. So it was easier to get off that. I was also on Nortripolin(sp) as well got off that myself.
He was put on (and this would be different for everyone) the antidepressant Cymbalta because he also had diabetic pain and it helps depression and pain and anxiety. (He is also OCD) Neurontin for a mood stabilizer, and Klonopin at night for sleep and it helps with anxiety/PTSD. We went through 2 years of other medication changes and he is still not free of depression. He is ok with mania unless he starts drinking, doing cocaine, excess stimulants and so forth.
Yup , I do have a bit going on and no , no one has offered me anything for sx. relief . I brought up neurontin and provigil with my pcp and he doesn't like them , says they are too strong . ;( I can't take anti-depressants . I'm trying 5-HTP , 50mg You are absolutely right , I should buy some flowers , I have a beautiful pitcher and ewer that they would look great in . That would make this place cheerful. How is your recovery going ? I had parathyroid surg. in May .
I think this place attracts some of the most intelligent and caring people in the world. So gratifying. I haven't posted for a very long time ... but I will always keep this thread going. I remember so well the desperation I had to hear from anyone ... anyone about how they got off. Now there's years worth of posts from people round the world who kicked Tram.
Xanax is a smooth muscle relaxant besides for anxiety. Like Neurontin is off label use for you. Both wk. on Gaba in the brain firing. I get hd-pressure on windy days. It sedates 'chloride-ion channel' & head + skull base pressure sorta' pops. It's like a door spot that opens/closes. The same receptors can trigger migraine attacks. I told doc, since we don't know cause, just sedate the spot & open channel. Pacified me till we got correct dose.
I recently moved here from Arizona last month to be closer to my family. I have had severe jaw problems for many years. I have had conservative treatment, followed by many surgeries to try and repair the damage to the joints. Unfortunately, the surgeries did not help my pain. It is at this point (2004) that I started seeing a pain specialist. I am on Duragesic, Roxicodone, Neurontin, and Klonipin at night. However, over the past few months I have felt increasingly more depressed.
Celexa is very close in chemical makeup, but that one didn't work well for me for my anxiety. I know it does for others, with minimal side effects, so it may be a good choice.
i had a hysterectomy about 6 years ago and went into such a bad flare about 3 weeks after surgery that i had to be put on norco and have never been able to get off of it since. cymbalta did nothing for me, neurontin made me just about pass out--but the doc said it was close to lyrica but alot cheaper.
I just started it a month ago and I'm fairly certain it has at the very least prevented me from losing the fat I had accumulated due to the anxiety disorder I had been suffering from for over a year. Gabapentin has helped so I'm really upset that it will cause weigh gain when I really need to lose (exercise is part of my lifestyle already, started dieting carefully since starting yet still perceive myself as fatter or the same). I'm at 600mg/day (TID).
Oxycontin.- While awaiting the scan results I was given oxycontin for pain relief, this seemed to do the trick for 2 weeks, 10mg 2x a day, then things hurt again so up the dose went 20mg 2x a day, then 40mg 2x a day, then 80mg 2x a day and up to 120mg 2x a day, recognise the scenereo anyone??..
I'm also on other meds to help, an antidepressant and klonopin for the anxiety, depression, and sleep problems that come with fibro and chronic pain. Hydrotherapy seems to help while I'm doing it,but not much after, kinda like how physical therapy has been lately. Thanks everyone who commented.
I have not taken the neurontin for about 5 days now. Then after the tinglin calmed down, I took Motrin for the cramping sensations in my legs and arms for about 2 more days. I have not taken anything the past 3 nights. Finally I am sleeping better and only get very mild sensations at times throughout the day.
I heard that withdrawing is horrible. You get really bad stomach cramps, insomnia, anxiety. I heard it lasts for about a week. It's also really dangerous to just quit vicodin cold turkey that is why I'm curious why you just want to stop cold turkey. Help is out there. As for the part where you are worried about getting counsilling because you live in a small town and everyone will know you. Look up NA. Narcotics Anonymous. They have closed meetings and open.
Make sure why they are trying to figure this out, they try Lyrica, Neurontin, or Topamax for your pain to see if works (helps nerve pain). BOTOX is used for migraines and perhaps could benefit this if it persists. Also, nerves can be ablated if they can determine which one(s) are affected. Good luck!
(But chiropractic neck manipulation is scary - took a long time to find someone I trusted). I had a great deal on tingling in the legs and rearend. I took Neurontin for that. It eventually quieted. Also, moving gently in a warm therapy ( 90 -94 degrees) really helped - but it took a full year, 3 times a week.
Hi there, I have been a chronic flusher for years. I get a red blotchy anxiety rash on my neck & chest area when nervous or anxious. I have tried many vitamins & herbs to help this & nothing has really stopped the rash completely except beta blockers. Good luck!
6 days later I called and asked for some percocet, which a nurse called in for me. It was for 20 pills, which I took pretty consistently that week. The pain did not improve and I had to wait for a physical therapy appointment. The following Sunday (6 days later) i realized I was low on them (had 1 left) and the pain was not better so I called and asked them to page the on call doctor to see if he could call me in something.
stomach+intestinal gnawing pain, diarrhea, vomiting, migraine, hot+cold sweats and clamminess, insomnia for days at a time!, ANXIETY!!!!, 30+ pound sudden weight loss, total lack of appetite, weak, depressed...totally useless...suicidal thoughts. This is the worst illness/prison I've ever experienced! Been to the doctor 3 times and even ER once for MRI+CAT scans of brain to rule out stroke, tumors, etc. Docs are twiddling their thumbs. I'm wondering where to turn now?
