neurontin

Avatar f tn as a rule there is no need to wean off neurontin...clonidine patches r a bit less controlled than the pills...if ur blood pressure runs low, i would call and be sure u do not have this info backwards some how??? a patch continuously releases...as a rule tablets r given for shoort term use/ so if u feel ur pressure is low//ie dizzy etc...u can skip the next dose or only take 1/2 if it is not time released...what was ur doc and dose per day?
Avatar f tn s not a very well known or acknowledge side effect of neurontin, but it can sometimes cause an increase in eye pressure (glaucoma). I was one of the "lucky" ones that had this happen to. I had been on it for a while and went to my eye doc for a routine exam - my eye pressures were quite elevated - in going over my medications, he told me about this possible connection, so I contacted the physician that had prescribed the neurontin.
576796 tn?1217576256 Hi, yes, both drugs are associated with dizziness, need is to adjust the doses and please get your blood pressure checked too. Please consult your doctor for the same. Also, some patients develop tolerance to dizziness but if the symptoms are affecting your daily routine, need is to consult doctor. The incidence of dizziness is quite high with both gabapenti as well as buspirone.Other option is to replace buspirone with other drug from the same group.
1831849 tn?1383228392 It works really well for my fasciculations and some pain, however it causes sudden drops in my blood pressure and racing heart. (<1% of people get this symptom though).
Avatar n tn I also developed high blood pressure when this started. I am currently on neurontin, which helps a little and I take verapamil for my blood pressure. I am wondering if anybody has experienced anything similar and if they were able to solve it.
Avatar f tn Do you feel that this is related to stopping Neurontin ??? Also, are Neurontin and Lyrica the same drug? I have been hearing this, but have not found anything to support this in my google search. Do you have any opinions about the use of Neurontin for opiate withdrawal? Nauty..........
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had an experience with neurontin? It was prescribed for burning hands and feet and I feel very wierd and crazy..and dizzy.
1207048 tn?1282174304 My doctor has suggested I try neurontin (or I guess the generic version). I'm not very fond of taking medicine (I know, I'll have to get over that real quick if I get diagnosed LOL). I will most likely try this. I think my sleep is being interrupted after a few hours sleep because I'm uncomfortable. Not in pain so much, but sore and achey.
Avatar f tn The basic question is - How long should it take to feel relief from taking Neurontin? I have been taking 3000Mg a day for about 3 weeks now and still haven't noticed any difference. A little background. I have been doctoring since April 1st for pins & needles/numbness/tightening/pain/tingling in both hands. Also, my arms and chest feel as if I have an extremely tight shirt on. The MRI revealed a spinal cord lesion at C3.
Avatar f tn I agree, it sounds like w/d. Add Natural Calm with calcium to your mix. It helps the muscles relax. A check up is a good idea but I would wait a week or two at least. Unless things really get bad. Walking a bit more may help too. Drink lots of water.
5862405 tn?1378570692 Burning sensation in the soles can be due to plantar fasciitis, diabetes, Sjogren’s syndrome, peripheral neuropathies (Lyme’s lupus, diabetes, hypothyroidism etc), hypothyroidism, SLE, alcoholism, peripheral artery disease, sciatica, sarcoidosis, amyloidosis and high blood pressure. You will need blood tests, nerve conduction studies and dopplar studies to reach a diagnosis. Please consult your doctor regarding this. Take care!
Avatar f tn Hi j503, I want to welcome you to the Pain Management Forum and let you know that we are glad that you have found this Forum. I nedd to let you know taht there are NO Doctors on this Forum ONLY CP (Chronic Pain) Patients that help each other with their own expertise and experience that they have gained from their own Pain issues. I'm sorry that you aren't getting any relief from your Neurontin.
Avatar m tn I was prescribed Neurontin for what they are thinking are overactive nerves. I had an injury 2 years ago and am still in pain and they think it's from the nerves not having settled or still being irritated. The doc said this was the safest med he prescribes. I don't like medicine.
Avatar n tn This isn't a blood pressure question but the medication is for high blood pressure so I thought you might could help me. I have been having some strange symptoms since starting metoprolol as a migraine preventative. My head feels like it weighs a ton, and there is a lot of pressure up there, too. I've also been experiencing blurry vision and some concentration issues. I also take lithium, trazodone and neurontin and a rare xanax.
1375380 tn?1278892326 I have been on the medicine for 3 weeks and have been drinking water like crazy. My blood pressure has risen, but I still have the tingling sensation. Any ideas on what might be causing the tingling? Should I follow up with the cardiologist or try to reschedule with the neurologist?
Avatar f tn The rehab here in Texas prescribe the gabapentin for those going thru withdrawals as it helps with anxiety, sleep and even blood pressure. I just did a fast taper the second week and had no problems coming off it. I don't know if I would've made it without it. On the other hand, I understand wanting to be completely free of all pills! You are doing great! Keep on fighting the good fight!
Avatar m tn Now this new guy armed with the MRI that should have been done with contrast puts me on Neurontin (Gabapentin) working up to high doses for a month with instructions to come back if it dosen't fix the problem.I haven't been feeling well(besides the back) so my PCP did a viral count, blood work and was alarmed by the results right around 39,000.
Avatar n tn clonidine (it's actually a blood pressure medication) is typically used a lot for opiate wd's....it works because during wd's, your blood pressure tends to rise and you get uncomfortable symptoms, and the clonidine helps your blood pressure return to normal....only thing to watch out for is if your blood pressure is NOT that high, because then the clonidine can make you very dizzy, lightheaded and woozy....
Avatar f tn The pain is in both feet and ankles. I take five neurontin and a januvia every day because of postprandial high glucose numbers. I've had peripheral neuropathy and diabetes 2 for about 7 years now. I see a neurologist, endocrynologist, podiatrist and my primary doctor and so far no real answers.

Avatar f tn When I was coming off fentanyl and oxycodone, my dr put me on Clonidine, a blood pressure med, but very effective. Look it up on the net. Ask your dr to put you on it for a week or two. I only took it 1 week, felt so much better!! I now take 4800 mgs neurontin daily...failed back surgery, severe leg pain. Its not going to help with withdrawal. Believe me. Its for nerve pain...and will leave you sluggish. Good luck and congrats on your decision to stop.
Avatar f tn I've had pressure/low pain in head for 3 months. Feels like it will explode. Also at one year mark for post herpetic neuralgia from shingles. Neurontin, Lyrica, various pain meds, cortisone shots in back....nothing helps. Internist/neurologist/pain mgmt. specialist/ physical therapy....nothing helps. Now have intermittent burning, stabbing pains in back, side, legs. I also have rheumatoid arthritis. I don't know which way to turn!
Avatar m tn Couldn't say which is best to use but Lamictal was the most effective for me as well as other people and generally used more than the others. Trileptal unlike Tegretol (which its clinically similar to) does not require a blood test. Neurontin and Topomax don't but they are generally used as adjuncts. I was not able to tolerate Keppra because of personality changes and its not used often for this exact reason.
Avatar n tn For some reason I checked my blood pressure and it was very high. I have never, ever in my lifetime had any problems with my blood pressure. I called my doctor yesterday and spoke to her nurse which was a waste of time. She sounding as if she needed to go back to school. I was advised they were getting ready to close and that if it did not go down in 20 minutes go to the emergency room and that was it. I relaxed and it went up and down. My blood pressure never did go down alot yesterday.
391038 tn?1298737386 I also wound up on the Clonidine patch which helped a bunch but you need to monitor your blood pressure while on it and I think maybe if I had just had the pills it would have been better. I wish you the best!
Avatar f tn Wow this withdrawal is sooo hard. I was taking Prozac for panic attacks and OCD. I was being brave but didn't mentally prepare for this. I haven't really slept in the last week and have been having major stomach problems and OCD. I also have this weird thing where I stop breathing and when I realize I've stopped breathing I would take a big breath and that is almost every 5 minutes, and it happens in my sleep too.
