Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin anxiety dosage

neurontin

Avatar m tn I am currently taking 60mg of Nortriptyline a day for neuropathic pain. It hasn't been effective so I am planning to switch to Neurontin. What is the average dose of Neurontin for pain management? More specifically, with a chronic pain level between 5-7. Is there a database for Neurontin dosage? I will be ramping to 300mg of Neurontin per day but am wondering if that's too conservative.
600857 tn?1230057770 Please do not worry about Neurontin. I have taken it for a long time and at twice the dose your at. I have not had one problem from it and it does work on my nerve pain. I have had absolutely no side effects even from the increases I've had. In my opinion, it is a completely safe drug. If you have any douts about it then Google "Neurontin Side Effects" it should give you a really good indepth look at the drug.
Avatar f tn Looking for people's experiences with Neurontin 1) in general and 2) specifically if its helpful for withdrawal. The poll is for people's experiences using Neurontin during withdrawal - not necessarily FOR withdrawal but just if you used during. lso let me know if you feel like it, what it actually helped with. If you have other experiences with it, please comment on this post and let me know. I was prescribed it weeks ago for facial pain, but I havent filled it.
1415174 tn?1453243103 How do you taper off of Neurontin? I have gone so far from 900 mg a day to 500mg a day. 200 per week then 100 a week now. Is that too slow? I have gotten insomnia, anxiety and general not feeling good and even increase in back pain. Is the last few hundred much harder?
1134609 tn?1269272200 Thanks for the reply; I am not to stressed about getting off of it. I increased my dosage of Neurontin this last week; I forgot how well it works for me. We're not going to start tapering off of the Klonopin for another month, mainly because I am in the process of quitting chewing. But, the Neurontin will really help me wean off of the Klonopin; the 400mg increase in dosage (400mgs of Neurontin isn't much) has been working wonders.
Avatar n tn at night and it works great as a sleep aid. Neurontin also works on anxiety so it might help. I am not a doctor but was prescribed the neurontin for chronic pain and stress so it might help you. If your Dr. has given you this script then trust he knows what hes doing. It won't hurt to give it a try, I did and I'm glad I did.
Avatar f tn My doctor is starting me on Neurontin. Has anyone had any luck with it or had any side effects?
Avatar f tn ve been on it for about 4 months now and my doctor just increased the dosage to 600mg, 3 times a day because my anxiety/OCD is so bad. I still have bursts of anxiety some days but I have very severe anxiety. If your epileptic, I am not sure if you would be able to take this. Because it is also a seizure medicine as well. It also treats Bi-Polar disorder.
Avatar n tn Anyone taking neurontin for anxiety? I was started on it almost 3 weeks ago...I was started out only on 100mg at bedtime, now I"m taking 200mg. Has anyone had any horrible side effects? After the 200mg I feel sort of drugged and really sleepy (although it didn't help me sleep, odd.) Just wondering what your experiences are.
Avatar f tn they say neurontin isent a controlled substance but i think it is. i should know, im a recovering addict. i decided to wean myself off.
620877 tn?1282764097 Hi everyone - hoping that the experts here might have some insight. I have an appointment today to see my doctor - but would love to hear what you have to say on this subject. I have had 2 instances in the last year where I have started a new medication and within a few days of beginning it, I develop anxiety (anxiety and weird thoughts) symptoms. The first time it happened was when my GI doctor put me on 5mg of Lexapro (antidepressant) to treat my hypersensitive esophagus issue.
1855076 tn?1337115303 I'm just curious if anyone is hearing that Neurontin is being abused? I was given this for nerve pain but couldn't tolerate it as it caused serious slurring of my words to the point people thought I was intoxicated. I also had trouble word-finding on it. But I didn't think it was something anyone abused. (Though I slurred my words, I didn't feel high or intoxicated with it; I sort of felt locked in ... I knew in my head what word I wanted but couldn't get it out.
Avatar n tn 1200mg neurontin 1mg klonopin 20 mg lexapro, every morning and 600mg neurontin and 1mg klonopin in the eve. Neurontin has shown to be a mood stabilizer and good for anxiety. It helps...
Avatar f tn I take 300mg 3 or 4 times a day and have been at this dosage for about 9 months for bulging C6/7. I'm scheduled for surgery in a few weeks and I want to stop the neurontin. My body starts aching horribly, and my mood really goes bad if I'm late for a dose. I'm on day two of eliminating the mid day dosage and I'm doing so-so. Does anyone have any advise for me?
Avatar m tn I also read reviews of people taking it for other things and found that it helped with their anxiety. Glad to know it is working for you. What dosage are you on?Where your prescribed the lyrcia for anxiety or something else? Hope it continues to help you.
620877 tn?1282764097 For those of you who take Gabapentin (Neurontin): Just curious what side effects you have experienced (and at what dosage), and how long they lasted? I just started this last weekend, 300mg once a day at bedtime. I am having a really hard time waking up in the morning and for the first half of the day I feel a little "loopy" or my head feels "swimmy"....if that makes any sense.....
Avatar f tn Hi Lalab , Armour thyroid when taken in correct dosage generally causes no side effects . However serious side effects do occur when the dosage is too high . Symptoms of Hyperthyroidism may occur which include – Heart palpitations , Tachycardia, Heart attack , chest pain , Heart failure , difficulty breathing , Hypertension , Insomnia , anxiety , muscle weakness and a lot of other symptoms . So first of all you need to get the dose of Armour Thyroid adjusted .
Avatar f tn Please be careful with using Neurontin... my husband who is addicted to opiates has become addicted to the Neurontin as well. It may sound silly, and I don't have a ton of knowledge on drugs and such, but you can find and read countless forums with people talking about how they abuse the drug, and the horrible withdrawals they go through when running out of it.
Avatar n tn m surprised to hear about neurontin as a street drug. I take it for anxiety. At a low dose it seems to help, and at night I take a higher dose at night to help me sleep -- though I'd rather not take anything. It just makes me really groggy and sometimes gives me a "hangover" the next morning. It also causes wicked drymouth. Certainly not a drug I'd have any thought of abusing. At higher doses, it tends to make people slow and "dumb.
1515545 tn?1291395764 I have had severe anxiety for 11 months now I already posted a comment in January about it and it has since gotten worse, I don't know what to do they have put me on celexa, and Vistaril for anxiety and still can barely go out in public, I can't go to offices and stores where I have to talk to people 1 on 1 I get so nervous and almost paralyzed that I can't move or talk, I don't know what to do anymore, my son came to live me last week and I have to go to social security to switc
Avatar m tn I mentioned neurontin awhile back. There was a news episode where a clinic was using it as part of a detox plan. I went from taking around 200 mg of hydro to cold turkey. I've been through withdrawals without it so I know exactly how much the suck! I used neurontin and was able to go on with life. I still had the chills and some anxiety, but you was bearable. It really helped me the most with sleep. The only side effect I had from it was a tinge of a headache and a little fuzzy headed.
Avatar m tn IN my honest opinion, if you are going to try one or the other, I would try the Neurontin first. It may require several dosage increases before you notice any improvements, and generally speaking, when Neurontin is used for anxiety-type situations, it requires a much higher dose than when it is used to treat Neuralgia. Any which way....please let us know how you're doing, buddy!
