Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and vision problems

neurontin

382218 tn?1341181487 I have had problems with my eyesight as well including vertical double vision and vision deterioration with some blurring and double vision. I am currently undergoing a weaning from Neurontin and Tegretol and I am still having trouble with my eyesight. I guess I am of no real help as they have not come up with any other reason for the vertical double vision although it occured while I was having other symptoms at the same time and they don't feel that it is a relapse of MS.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I have seen in the package insert of Neurontin that it can cause visual disturbances and rare retinal problems etc. I have also seen a New Zealand study recently that said some people get a visual disturbance from Celebrex. I am quitting both for that reason. Has anyone had visual problems from either drug? I get a wavy line that moves (like a migraine aura without the migraine) for about half an hour in both eyes and it goes away.
Avatar f tn but when I changed the time I took it - not at the same time as my pain medications - it helped for about a week and then I started having problems seeing and hallucinations. Obviously I no longer take Lyrica which is too bad since it DID seem to relieve some of the pain but the side effects were way more serious. I do have a question for you and anyone else out there regarding: sudden onset knee pain.
Avatar f tn t stay on it) and Neurontin with Neurontin being the only medicine that provides any relief so far. This is not rebound headache as I rarely ever take OTC or any other medicines except for Neurontin. HELP PLEASE from anyone with experience with this. Family needs me and I need to get back to normal.
Avatar f tn I have tried multiple meds such as antidepressants and Gabapentin... always have had multiple side effects. Things like heart palpitation's, anziety and vision troubles. I can take xanax and Soma with no problems. My question is "could it be the Armour Thyroid that I take that causes the trouble?" I also have a movement disorder labeled as tremors/non-epileptic seizures which also gets worse with antidepressants.
Avatar f tn I stopped taking it suddenly after my detox because of the same issues you are having and never had a problem - and my dose was twice yours and I was taking for a much longer period. You should not have a problem.
459075 tn?1224121598 vomiting; weight gain. Severe side effects of neurontin include behavioral problems and suicidal thoughts, chest pain; confusion; fainting; fast, slow, or irregular heartbeat; severe headache or dizziness; shortness of breath and memory loss. Can you identify some of these? I feel that you should talk to your doctor regarding decreasing the dose of neurontin or shifting to some other pain killer.Pls don’t stop neurontin on your own as the dose has to be tapered first and then stoppage is done.

Avatar f tn The neurontin itself can cause the short term memory problems and you need to definitely be under drs orders for decreasing neurontin, because without the same level in your bloodstream all the time, it can really mess you up.
Avatar f tn Years ago, I went through many of these similar problems with sinus problems, dizziness, and foggy vision. After two years, sinus surgery, and at my wits end I finally ended up in front of a neurologist. As I told him my story, he said "Oh you poor fellow" and shook his head. He was the first doctor that suggested I was suffering from anxiety and depression manifisted into physical ailment. At this point I was willing to try anything and just wanted the misery to stop.
1415174 tn?1453243103 I was on other meds, Celebrex, Skelaxin and am off of all except Neurontin. I have tapered the Neurontin to 500mg/day. This question is related to side effects that may be due to Neurontin or maybe my migraines. When I was on a higher dose of Neurontin I was getting almost daily visual disturbances in both eyes that looked like what my migraine auras look like but those are in one eye and are followed by a headache.
Avatar n tn Understand that there is no cure, unfortunately. Possible treatments include drugs like Lyrica and Neurontin - and I'm not a fan of either one. I would consider alternative treatment like nutritional therepies for chronic pain, exercise, accupuncture, yoga and meditation. I'm sorry but you have a chronic pain syndrome that is often quite difficult to treat. My personal advise is the avoid drug treatments if at all possible.
9704730 tn?1405741284 My vision, balance, and my brain all went haywire on me. So yes Neurontin can make you feel weird. You weren't taking it very long but I would still ask your doctor about both medicines you've taken lately. About the tramadol, which I know nothing about, I would imagine you could very well still feeling wd symptoms. I've tried to quit taking Neurontin but I keep getting dragged into taking it for a little longer.
Avatar f tn I know all these drugs are pretty much the same and their for people with seizures and doctors now give it to people with chronic pain like me! Well I have tried all but not for more than a month. With Elavil I didn't like the way it made me feel. Neurontin and Trileptal I didn't take it long b/c I noticed nothing. I just started taking Lyrica 75mg 3x a day started about almost 2 weeks ago.
1490607 tn?1288379690 Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
1415174 tn?1453243103 It is like an aura or wavy moving lines that last about a half hour and are in each eye. Has anyone had this from Neurontin (or Celebrex). I am tapering off of Neurontin for that reason and would like your opinion as to how to get off of it will less side effects. I am at 500mg now per day. I am now trying 100mg per week as I get ill feeling, insomnia and anxiety. What do you all normally do?
Avatar n tn received massive blow to head 18 months ago have been on several meds to enable to sleep and for chronic migraines am currently taking neurontin memory has improved some since accident however now i can be driving to work or elsewhere and will forget where i am going for 15 or 20 miles at a time does anyone have any experience with this medicine im not sure if its helping or making things worse,
Avatar n tn The common side effects of neurontin are blurred vision, dizziness, and muscle ache, swelling of hands, feet, or lower legs, trembling and unusual tiredness. Lyrica is also known to cause general weakness, lethargy, blurred vision, ascites, facial edema, generalized edema etc. You must consult your neurologist to change your medications since both of these can cause swelling and you have swelling in both the legs.
1538685 tn?1293126520 I have had cervical (C5-C7) and lumbar (L5-S1) fusions since 1999. My spine has taken a turn for the worse. These are the most recent MRI findings: C2-C3 has a large left subarticular disk protrusion with compression of C3 nerve roots and left aspect of the cord, with moderate spinal canal stenosis.C3-C7 moderate neural foraminal stenosis and mild to moderate central canal stenosis. C4-C5 mild flattening of the ventral cord L2-L3 lateral forminal and far left lateral annular tear.
620877 tn?1282764097 I know that my balance and vision problems, my most annoying and most persistent symptoms, have been substantially worse this week, plus I am so groggy I'm afraid I'll hit my head on the desk when I finally can't take it any more. This is supposed to go away in a couple of weeks?
Avatar m tn The side effects you describe sound pretty much what I experienced. A fog with confusion, vision, and a crazy anxiety that almost seemed like hallucinations. I even called my counselor about the panic feelings and he told me he (himself) experienced the out of body feelings. I felt weird. Now, I'm still taking it, only 900mg. Everything is fine now. This is how Neurontin/Gabapentin affected me only. This pill seems to be a popular doctor remedy in people getting clean.
Avatar f tn My psychiatrist is thinking about it for my anxiety, since nothing is working since a terrible and weird and untreated Paxil withdrawal four years ago. And to the poster, she says it's okay to take with klonopin, if that's any help, since I'm on klonopin and asked her about that.
874521 tn?1424116797 t know if this will make sense for gardenia76, because everyone is different, but with my leg problems, I have found if I have elevated my legs very long and then try to go to sleep, I have nasty feelings in my legs. If I sit/stand/walk for 30-60 minutes right before laying down to sleep, I can go to sleep before legs bug me. In other words, if I lay down to read or watch tv (especially an easy chair where legs are higher than hips), then plan on sleeping, the legs act up more.
Avatar f tn Bump Kelly, I have been doing a little research trying to figure out my vision issues (pain behind my eye, eye movement, etc.) and this came up as a possible cause. What came out of this?
Avatar f tn I am 17 years old and I have been taking Neurontin for 3 or 4 months, I take 9 300mg pills a day for chronic nerve pain in my leg that I have had for five years. Previously I was taking lyrica. Lyrica seemed to affect my vision so I switched to Neurontin. I feel like I am in a blur everyday and all the events meld together, also when I work or go to school I feel like I am working through a fog. I am wondering if people take this kind of medication for years?
