1134609 tn?1269272200 Yeah, the whole battle has been a two headed beast... The Lamictal and Neurontin combination has worked for me and it's not like it just stopped. The mood swings are nowhere near as bad they were before I was placed on them. So, I would prefer to just plays with those medications and find solid dosages. The other option is drastic; get off of the Lamictal, figure out if it was causing the bad reaction to Seroquel and Lithium and work from there..
Avatar m tn What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
420308 tn?1203041262 5mg of Effexor ER, 200mg of Lamictal, 60 mg of Buspar, 1200 mg of Neurontin, 600mg of Seroquel and .5 mg of Xanax ER as needed. I feel better than I ever had in my life, but the only problem I have now is excessive weight gain--about 30 lbs. I am currently 5'7 and 188 lbs. I want to get my weight down to 160 lbs. As a New Year's resolution I have been working out between 30-60 minutes 5 days a week combining cardio and weight training.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I currently on Lamictal, Neurontin, and Klonopin. However, there has been discussion of weaning off of the latter medications and adding a mood stabilizer to the mix. However, I am very sensitive to medication; Seroquel kicked me into a manic episode. Given this fact, what are some of the effective mood stabilizers for mania? What are some of your experiences with said stabilizers?
915369 tn?1355314810 I had an appointment with my psychiatrist yesterday, we had a nice little chat about my lithium which made her not want to put me on more than 600mg per day. Instead of uping the dose she decided to try me on Gabapentin while still taking my lithium to see if they will work together. I've never heard of this medication before and when I look things up on the internet I'm not finding sites that say it can be used for bipolar. Does anybody know if it actually works well?
Avatar n tn Seroquel is AWFUL for weight gain! I've seen my doctor for 13years & have gone from 100mg up to 1200mg! I'm weaning myself down..without telling her...Im now on 800mg a night. I've gained 80pounds in the last 2 years! I just think she over medicated! But I have a really hard time sleeping now since I decreased the seroquel. She just put me on 20mg of lexapro..praying it doesn't make me gain weight!
Avatar n tn Hi. I am bipolar and currently taking Lithium, Neurontin, Seroquel & Lamictal. I have only been on the Lamictal for about 7 weeks, starting @ 25mg & every 2 weeks adding another 25mg; thus I am currently @ 100mg per day.
1134609 tn?1269272200 I am on Lamictal, Neurontin and Klonopin. I have hit a rough patch as of late and have tried numerous BP medications (Depakote, Lithium, Seroquel, Zyprexa, etc, etc) and have had adverse reactions to all of them. And by rough, I mean I have been off of work for three weeks. This is my last resort; my shrink and I are going to have to medicate the h-ll out of me to get back to work.
Avatar m tn Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.
2033870 tn?1329481339 I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Ten years ago, I was diagnosed with depression and GAD and placed on Celexa and Neurontin. They worked well for me for a long time, but my moods progressively started to swing worse and worse through the years. Either I was BP the whole time, or the my mental illness progressed into it. Medication is a Catch-22 for me; I am very sensitive to them. I either respond well to them or they cause severe adverse side effects.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Same situation as Abilify. Too expensive and I am tired of being gutted by the APs. I guess I am just venting, but I don't know what to do. We have the same friggin discssion about these meds every time I see her. I am starting to feel like a difficult patient, but I feel like I have to put my foot down..The biggest reason why I was laid up (and lost one of my jobs) was because everything we tried messed me up.
1134609 tn?1269272200 Well, I don't really have a great deal of depression when dealing with the Neurontin. The Neurontin/Klonopin combo can drag me out a bit, but I start tapering off of Klonopin next month. I am a rapid cycle BP2; the Lamictal helps out tremendously in that aspect. However, with the increase in Neurontin, I am generally having fewer mood swings and am a lot less anxious.
874521 tn?1424116797 The 1st to have drawn my attention to this is LeftCoastChick which is true. Again lamictal works upwards and seroquel works downwards so equalising each other (my engineering sense not the clinical one). So i am positive that this the right combo. Finally if you consider the production dates of these 2 drugs they are the latest except abilify among all the bloody others.

1134609 tn?1269272200 We increased the Lamictal a few days ago and that is probably a big part of it. She also gave me Seroquel to take as needed for sleep, but I don't want to take it if I don't have to. It knocks me out, but sometimes it disrupts my sleep cycle and it makes me very groggy the next day. I also take Neurontin, so I am thinking about saving a half of my doses of that to take at night. I also take Melatonin, which works well.
574118 tn?1305135284 Even then I eventually had a manic episode and Seroquel was added which stabilised things somewhat. I have been advvised to add an AD to the mix but have a fear of it making matters worse. Adding medications make me nervous because I worry that I will not ever be able to go off them once I start and fear ending up on loads of different meds.
Avatar f tn It took me forever to find a group I was comfortabale with, and they have me on a new daily regime of Seroquel, Ativan and Neurontin. The mix seems to be working because I haven't had a true meltdown panic attack in 2 weeks, which is HUGE for me. When I do have one, I get lightheaded, shaky, nauseous, dizzy, sweaty, and my heart races like I just ran a marathon. They tend to last anywhere from 15 minuets to over an hour.
Avatar n tn I would think the insomnia is related to something else and the Neurontin has nothing to do with it. I took Seroquel for a short period of time for insomnia and it worked great and was easy to stop taking when I was done. Hope this helps.

Avatar m tn See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness (it is the very best treatment for RLS or RAS), Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
605458 tn?1539228808 I have a long history of Bipolar I. I've been stable on meds for three years, although I stil suffer from depression that varies in intensity. A few months ago I suddenly becme extremely irritable and mentioned it to my counselor in passing. She suggested it was a symptom of mania (maybe an upcoming episode), and I had one of my meds changed (increase in Seroquel) and it helped right away.

574118 tn?1305135284 Hi starting 2 months ago and even much before but more pronounced recently that I can't sit for long in one place, i would go to work then sit on my desk then need to move, go to the cafeteria to eat something then upstairs then downstairs, and same in the afternoon i would go to the club and sit somewhere then changed my mind or can't stay still for long and go somewhere else then go to buy a book not necessarily that i will complete reading it, etc... etc...
663901 tn?1232649671 Yes when I was on Seroquel I had to get an eye exam each year due to the extremely rare risk of cataracts but I saw an opthamologist anyway so it was no big deal. That is statisically rare and no reason to be concerned about Seroquel and a check up as I suggested is the best form of follow up. Seroquel is safe in this regard. In this case (you know I am always factual) your pharmacist was overstating the risk but a follow up visit is generally a good idea.
Avatar f tn Since seroquel can cause high BG you sure your diabetic and not as a result of seroquel raising your BG? Go to Google and put seroquel into the serch field.
