Neurontin and seroquel

Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and seroquel

neurontin

I was put on klonipin and only took it the first time which made me sleep for way too long and hubby had a hard time waking me. I took Seroquel and, everyone still thinks I'm crazy, but I swear that I laid there awake but could not move and my heart was throbbing like crazy. I thought I was going to die. I was trying to say something to my husband but couldn't. At any rate, I never took it again and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.
Her psychiatrist immediately stopped the Elavil and added Xanax and Seroquel(25mg). The Xanax was used only for a week or so. She improved slowly and steadily. The sitter was discontinuted. A few weeks later, she became deeply depressed; said she wanted to kill herself. She didn't have a suicide plan; seemed to be expressing a desire to die, as opposed to a true intention to end her life. She was hospitalized that evening. Lexapro was added to her Neurontin/Exelon.
I would think the insomnia is related to something else and the Neurontin has nothing to do with it. I took Seroquel for a short period of time for insomnia and it worked great and was easy to stop taking when I was done. Hope this helps.
I have rapid cycling bipolar as well as post traumatic stress disorder. He has me on Xanax for anxiety, Zoloft and Neurontin for mood stabilizer. Can anyone tell me what they think of Neurontin and if it words? I am very intrigued to know if I am on a good medicine or if this isn't good. I don't go back to him for 3 weeks.
I oppossed this greatly and explained that to me this was a function of her discontinuance of her previous medicene (lithium) and her not taking well to the neurontin. He agreed and now she is on the lithium and seroquel (again as a temporary bridge). She also currently and historically takes 10mg of lexapro and 3mg daily of clonopin. My question is - Is Nuerontin FDA approved for bipolar disorder and is it an effective monotype therapy for the disorder?
5mg of Effexor ER, 200mg of Lamictal, 60 mg of Buspar, 1200 mg of Neurontin, 600mg of Seroquel and .5 mg of Xanax ER as needed. I feel better than I ever had in my life, but the only problem I have now is excessive weight gain--about 30 lbs. I am currently 5'7 and 188 lbs. I want to get my weight down to 160 lbs. As a New Year's resolution I have been working out between 30-60 minutes 5 days a week combining cardio and weight training.
I have been taking 200 mg of Seroquel and 1200 mg of Neurontin for years. (I am a 52 year old female). Several weeks ago I begin having scary reactions 1.50 hours after taking the Seroquel. (pounding heart, low blood pressure 60/40, shaking legs, sometimes waking up and gasping for air). I have tried to break the Seroquel in half, but I get the same reactions. Why would this start happening. In the past, I have had to cut back the Seroquel due to weight loss.
I have been taking 400 mg of Seroquel and 1200 mg of Neurontin for years. (I am a 52 year old female). Several weeks ago I begin having scary reactions 1.50 hours after taking the Seroquel. I have a borderline personality disorder, but I'm not bipolar (as far as I know) and I'm taking Seroquel (don't know why) and Lexapro (for anxiaty & depression). I've read Seroquel is for bipolar, maniac depression and schizofrenia but I'm not sure which of this three aplies in my case. I cut myself, have burned, starve, binge, make myself throw up, have anxiaty atacks and I am generally depressed.....
Question for the experts: I've been taking about 6 Percocet 7.5's &/or Hydrocodone 7.5-10mg 5x's a day for 4 months now for chronic pain. I'm all out & can't get any filled till 3-3 & would like to try my Neurontin 600mg tid to help with the opiate w/d symptoms. I can go get my Rx for Neurontin this am & only have 1 7.5 Percocet left. Planning to take 1/2 now & 1/2 at 10am. After that I plan on using Neurontin 600mg 3-4 x's daily for w/d till I can refill the other on 3-3.
Seroquel and Kolopin have been my saving grace of combinations. Took several years to get this stable, with many, tooo many depressive eposides B-4 my current cocktail. I take most of my seroquil@night 200mgs.@ bedtime.and I take 1 50 mg. during the day. Kolopin is 0.5mg x3 daily, I usually take 2.I am also a recovering addict of 25 years and have only been medicated for the last 7 years ( I THINK ).............I am very diligent with my meds, I don't miss and I don't mis use.
I am taking 10mg of Lexapro and 400MG of Neurontin at night for GAD and insomnia. Should I add a third medicine like Ambien to put me asleep, the neurontin seems to work well for minor anxiety but dosen't really knock me out, like something like seroquel, which worked well but gave me some breathing problems with SSRI drugs. Maybe i should increase both drugs, i am taking, but i worry about the potential of a seizure with increase dosage.
What do you recommend I do to ask my doctor to increase dosages on neurontin and effexor xr for anxiety? Do you recommend to take Seroquel XR and other recommend medications to me sleep at night and to help ith severe anxiety attacks? I need something to knock me out.
What if OB doesn't give me more ????
i have been taking gabapentin for several years now, along with an antipsychotic (seroquel), and have several questions concerning my treatment. i have gained a lot of weight...initially 30 lbs and later 30 more over one winter. my weight has been unresponsive to diet and exercise, but SEEMS to have escalated propotionate to a dose increase in my gabapentin. i have been told repeatedly that this kind of gain is due to my antipsychotic, but i remain (after speaking with other patients) unsure.
I currently take Tegretol, Neurontin, Seroquel, and BuSpar. I recently stopped taking Wellbutrin SR. I know that Tegretol causes neural tube deficits and heard that Calan is sometimes used as a mood stabilizer. I do not know much about Calan other than it's a calcium channel blocker and also used for high blood pressure. I've been on Tegretol for about 10 years, even if I stop taking it will it still be in my system and effect the baby? I'm already taking folic acid 800mcg/day.
Then, about 2 ½ years ago I had a near-psychotic meltdown, mostly about the devil and evil spirits, and was diagnosed with OCD and prescribed Anafranil and Zyprexa, which helped with the irrational thinking and obsessive thoughts a little. Between now and then, I have been diagnosed with OCD, Social anxiety disorder, GAD, major depressive disorder, ADHD, and most recently, aspergers/high functioning autism.

See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep and Klonopin which will be helpful for sleeplessness and anxiety. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter. The residual symptoms of insomnia and depression can last another few months.
I have tried Cipralex, Efexor, Fluanxol, Xanor (Xanax), Rivotril, Seroquel, Ritalin, Wellbutrin, Esperide. All had horrible side effects and and had to stop and try something else. I am currently taking Valdoxane and Molipaxin, but feel completely detached and unemotional, which is a problem as I have been married 9 months and my wife is 7 months pregnant. My doctor hads taken my off Molipaxin and prescribed me Lyrica to take in conjunction with Voldoxane.
I also take Lamictal 100 mg as a mind stablizer for depression and also Fluoxetine 10 mg, seroquel 25 mg, I have high blood pressure which I take Atenolol 50 mg would a mixture of the meds be causing my tingling and numbness which is bothering me!

I became very ashamed of myself and voweled to never steal again. And I haven't since! A month ago, I got sick with Gastris and couldn't keep anything down. I was so miserable! All I wanted was to feel normal again. It wasn't about getting high anymore. Now I'm at about 2-4 10mg tablets a day. But when I don't have the med, I feel extremely restless and nervous. I'm at the point where I know I need to quick but can't handle being sick from withdrawals.
But what I wonder is there not anything out there for people like us?....muscle relaxer/Seroquel/Neurontin is what I take, but days can be tough, and so can nites,...with all the meds around is everything addictive and bad for the stomach too????
I always think I can go off pills and that I don't need them, and then someone can say something that irritates me, and I get so pissed. And it usually only lasts for a minute or two, but it's like I turn in to Linda Blair from the exorcist.. I was thinking that maybe I just need to take the Lamictal and not take the celexa since the lamictal is weight neutral.. Does anyone taking Lamictal think it will work for my mood swings?
My combo is stablon/coaxil (AD), seroquel, risperidone all at subclinical doses. Lately I began to cycle fast and am having mixed situation (not severe and i stop it by adding 25mg seroquel). Most likely it's due to the AD that I have to take it (some say any AD shouldn't be taken more than 6 months). I began to think that instead of this combo abilify can substitute both the AP's and AD because it's activating. That is my 1st question.
Again, with the melatonin, I sleep through the night (I can't even do that with Seroquel) and I wake up feeling good. Neurontin isn't a bad medication, in fact, I recommend it. It's very mild, but it helps with anxiety and mania. Yes, you do have to increase the dose of it over time, but you can tinker around with that too. When I start to adapt to a dose, my shrink just drops me down by 400mgs for a day or so (no withdrawals, whatsoever) and then increases is back to the original dose.
No one here is in a position to tell you what to take, that is a decision that is always up to you along with your pharmacist and your Dr. I would suggest returning to your Dr and telling him that your Pharmacist had concerns about those two drugs being taken together. Perhaps your Dr will find an alternate medication for you. There is an ' ask a pharmacist' section on this website, you could go there and ask, but in all honesty, you would be best going back to your own dr/pharmacist.
See if your doctor can write you a prescription for some Requip for restlessness, Neurontin for anxiety and malaise, some Flexeril or Soma for a few weeks for muscle spasms and maybe some Seroquel low dose, for sleep. and Clonidine for the creepy-crawly feeling and control of blood pressure variations. It will make your withdrawals easier. Valerian and Magnesium is sometimes helpful remedies over the counter.
