Common Questions and Answers about Neurontin and diarrhea

neurontin

Stanfird doctor finally told me to stop it and try taking Magnesium Ixide twice a day fir constipation and decrease if I get diarrhea. I am playing around with that and think it may be upsetting my stomach even though I taje it with food. Told to try Iberogast, order through Anazon. I just tried some today. Told to increase my Gabaoentin, 100 mg per week, until I get to 600 mg 3 x a day. I just went up to 1400 mg and feel a bit dizzy.
Has any one heard of or experienced being on Cymbalta and/or Neurontin and where the side effects suddenly became MS like symptoms after being on them for a year?
would like me off both Klonopine and xanax but im scared to. What exactly is this drug Neurontin and are there side effects Thanks for your help.
Then after taking it for a while I would get extremely dizzy and weak, have diarrhea, and feel like I was going to puke. This lasted for four weeks (as it took me a while to realize why I was sick). I lost over 15 pounds in that time. I forgot to take it one night and woke up feeling improved, didn't take it the following night and the morning after I felt FINE. I discussed this with my neuro and she brought me down to 100mg a night for now.
Treatment with both Xanax and Zoloft may result in decreased coordination, decreased ability to concentrate, and excessive sedation. Adderall and Zoloft could lead to serotonin excess and, potentially, the 'serotonin syndrome' (presenting as agitation, restlessness, aggressive behavior, insomnia, poor concentration, headache, paresthesia, incoordination, worsening of obsessive thoughts or compulsive behaviors, nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, palpitations, or chills).
The anti-diarrhea pill that I take is just a generic one from wal-mart. It literally just says "Anti-Diarrhea" on the box. I found it on a whim, actually. I was out of the liquid and I was desperate because I didn't want to take it, so I bought the first pills I found. I also had the dizziness and blurred vision. I have some problems with electrolytes, so it messes all that up. It's a bit of a pain, but I find that the easiest thing to get through.
Even though it says to stay away from grapefruit and maybe other citrus while on gaba, I also discovered that drinking Squirt and some other popular clear sodas with citrus will greatly interact with gaba and cause a feeling of being slightly drunk (they should mention grapefruit AND Squirt on the insert and the neurontin website because people don't think of grapefruit with sodas). I have gained about 15 pounds either from inactivity or gaba or both over the last two years.
About 1 week later the same thing except this time the bowel movement was diarrhea and the diarrhea lasted a few hours. I have had four episodes in 3 weeks. I went to the doctor today and said the first thing he wants to do is get a stool sample to test for parasites and bacteria. So we'll see. But reading what's been posted I'm going to monitor my diet and see what happens. These episodes are scary and make me panicky which may be making it worse for me...I don't know!!!!
Lyrica is similar to neurontin but has less side effects and often people who can not tolerate neurontin benefit from lyrica. However it is more expensive. This is also true for medications such as amitryptiline, which was originally used for depression but is not a mainstay of treatment for neuropathic pain. However, it has several side effects and may not be used in patients with heart problems. There are several other medications used for neuropathic pain.
I was placed back on the percocet at 5mg per day and just didnt like it stopped and started having diarrhea chills etc. Went back to my dr a week later and told him no more opiates. He decided/convinced me to try a low dose subutex .5 for pain management. After 30 days again couldnt stand it anymore tapered to .25mg and stopped. Withdrawals lasted a week though not as severe sickness wise severe mentally.
Fecal incontinence is less frequent and usually occurs from diarrhea resulting from other illness (laxative overdose or diet). Fatigue: Fatigue, the single most common complaint of people with MS, is often one of the most debilitating symptoms. It occurs in as many as 75% of patients with MS and interferes with work or family and social life.
and gastrointestinal symptoms such as abdominal cramping, nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. Patients receiving tramadol with serotonin-enhancing drugs may also have an increased risk of seizures due to additive epileptogenic effects of these agents.
these may include kidney disease, too little water intake, and loss of water due to diarrhea and/or vomiting. •A decreased concentration of sodium (hyponatremia) occurs whenever there is a relative increase in the amount of body water relative to sodium. This happens with some diseases of the liver and kidney, in patients with congestive heart failure, in burn victims, and in numerous other conditions.
have had protein intolerance for last five years and have had to dramatically reduce my use of amitriptyline during that time. Cannot tolerate it at all now. Use clonazepam and neurontin with only modest relief. Vitamin B-12 levels ok. any thoughts?
im scared and a bit worried that i might contracted HIV. and im gonna take a blood test 3months and 6months after.
Effexor, Wellbutrin, Provigil, and Neurontin. These are for my depression and to help stabilize moods. Just this past week I didn't take meds for 6 or 7 days. I really can't remember. I could feel the effects. Mine was uncontrollable crying for no reason. My Effexor is 75mg 4 times a day and Lamictil 200mg 2 times a day. I know what the consequences are if I don't take meds, but when depressed and extremely anxious over nothing in general, I frequently miss a dose.
Due to stomach cramping, diarrhea and nausea, I was instructed today to discontinue the baclofen and Plaquenil and add Cymbalta. I am very interested in finding out if there is anything I can do to relieve this pain?
Then I was put on cymbalta and it aggrevated my IBS and I lost 20 pounds in a couple weeks with severe diarrhea and vomitting. Lastly, I was put on savella but my blood pressure was through the roof and I normally have low blood pressure, low meaning, sometimes I am on meds for them. Also, I became hypoglycemic on savella. So, we are trying a double dip, meaning, trying topamax for my migraines and nerve pain.
I am relieved and angry . My neurologist has me on neurontin for pain and it works like magic. I begged her for topamax after researching it for 2 minutes lol. at this pont in time I am not afraid of anything. Possible side effects don't scare me any more. weight gain does lol slight BDD going on also along with OCD and all the other initials out there. Talk to your Dr. but try anything once If it doesn't help you you can stop!
I also take Creon5 to aid in digestion of foods. Since constant Diarrhea does not allow the absorbtion of water and nutrients into your body, it is necessary to slow down the process of elimination. I had to go out of town to get the right treatment. And yes, because your body doesn't retain water and nutrients, your hands, feet, arms and legs will cause tingling and numbness.
I take Neurontin, Flexeril, Phenergan, Lidoderm patches and sometimes Lortab for the pain. I welcome anytype of help, answer, or suggestion. I am very scared! A little bit of history about myself. On November 4th, 2008 I was advised I had little stomach lining after I had the light ran down my throat. And that I would have to start taking iron shots, B12 shots and I can't remember the other information the doctor have me.
I have it right now and can barely sit still! I had all blood work done and my iron and other mineral levels are fine! Here are the meds I am currently taking: Depakote (750 mg); Klonopin (0.25 mg), METHADONE (yes, methadone for the RLS; 30 mg a day), NEURONTIN (for the RLS, 2400 mg a day), Ambien (10 mg a day). I have tried every dopamine agonist on the planet and I developed severe augmentation! I will not try them again, as they only made my RLS worse.
there is a cousin called Neurontin that is cheaper... and it killed my lower back pain instantly. The drug has to be increased three-fold within a couple months until you reach a plateau. But the side effects can goof up your vision and balance, so if you are working, you will have to use it judiciously and perhaps just in the evenings and on the weekends. Anyhow, it works for me, so that's how come I bring it up.
Get some neurontin, some benadryl and some diarrhea medication and you won't believe how successful you will be and you won't have to suffer! My prayers go out to anyone going through this.
beverage in a month probably, 3 shots of gin (which is just pre-game for a russian irish guy like myself), and by the time I came back I was in cold sweats, then hot, then terrible flu symptoms and diarrhea and cuts began opening all down my throat and it became yellow-white colored inside my mouth.
Have been suffering from dizziness, nausea, one-sided facial pressure, pressure on back of skull and occasional diarrhea and stomach upset since July 2007. Had thyroidectomy in September, saw GI doctor for intestinal problems after that; had upper and lower endoscopy done, which came back normal. Was put on Clidinium for the stomach problems, and they seemed to subside, but just came back recently. Started taking Clidinium again today.
Welcome to Part 6! Please make yourself at home!
Nothing inparticular for a complaint, just generally did not feel well. He had a short bout of diarrhea, and about an hour after he layed down, he began getting hot, then he would get cold. Then all of a sudden, he had a fever. I gave him Tylenol and sometime during the night his fever broke. This has happended to him twice now in the last month. The next morning he still didn't feel well but there was no fever, chills or the feeling of being hot. This is a total mystery to me...
So I dug up some more info that I wanna share ... in case you are dying of curiousity. I am taking 1 1/2 klonopin a day and nuerontin (supposedly to help get me past the first two weeks). Is this normal. I have awful diaheria and I am just a mess. I thought by day 7 I would start feeling much better. Any advise would be helpful. I am really just not myself and I want to know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Almost want to call my regular doc and get a prescription so I can feel what has been for me "normal" the past seven years.
