Neupogen side effects

Common Questions and Answers about Neupogen side effects

neupogen

Avatar n tn After tx was done and continuing the neupogen for an additional 3 weeks, the side effects became more obvious. I believe the Inf/Riba masked the sx making it difficult to separate. As much as I appreciate that neupogen allowed me to not require a dose reduction of interferon, I began to not look forward to the shots, shoving another drug into my body with unknown effects.
564735 tn?1263943526 Hello, Yesterday I was given Neulast for the first time and I am experiencing some flu like side effects...achy (sp?), low grade fever and chills. I did some research on the web ( danger Will Robinson) and the web pages I looked at said I should contact my dr's office. I am planning on doing so tomorrow morning ( I wasn't going to before I read about the side effects on the web). My question is have any of you had similar side effects and how long did they last.
244899 tn?1313624639 The nuepogen side effects just floor me for a full day after taking it. My body aches and I cant get out of bed. Im just wondering if anyone else gets side effects from procrit?
1051842 tn?1253997592 m scared of that! What kind of side effects can I expect from that? Will I have to take these new drugs long?
Avatar n tn Hi. I am on week 60/72, second round of treatment. I was really really sick after shot for first few months and then this resolved and became tolerable at least. I now find that I am having these same significant side effects later in tx. This didn't happen last round, but I went 48 then. Anyone else have this happen?
493068 tn?1224765315 Do any of you have information about any long term side effects if you had Neupogen for 40 weeks?
Avatar f tn In general terms, white blood cells are known as leukocytes. White blood cells have several components; neutrophils, lymphocytes, monocytes, esonophils and basophils. If hubby is on treatment the particular component that's getting the doc's attention is neutrophil, which can be affected by the drugs. The 'resuce' drug that is used is "Neupogen".
695002 tn?1228147995 Probably the most significant advances in managing side effects have been the introduction of Epogen/Procrit (for managing anemia) as well as Neupogen (for managing neutrophil production). These drugs can help a patient maintain full compliance with interferon treatment without dose reduction, increasing the chances of clearing the virus permanently. For a good primer on HCV, take a look at the following site: http://janis7hepc.
Avatar f tn You do not want to get higher than 12 that is where the black box warning comes in. But as for real side effects, I've never ever heard of anyone having any and I've been here for over six years!
Avatar m tn The neupogen does not. I had no visable side effects from the neupogen although after I completed treatment and was still doing the Neup for a few weeks to bring up the whites, I noticed the side effects (bone aches). Masked by the INF and RIBA and the Procrit, who knew what was causing what? One thing I was told about Neupogen by my hemotologist was to wait 24 hours after the INF or do it at least 24 hours before. NOT AT THE SAME TIME because the INF and NEUP counter act one another.
Avatar f tn I believe that your pain complaints are valid and this may be a side effect of neupogen shots (this bone pain can be part of the usual 'flu like' side effects associated with the drug). If you are experiencing pain from this treatment, then I believe it is inhuman to withhold pain medications for you, though I agree there can also be side effects from the chronic intake of pain medications (such as dependence or kidney problems).
Avatar m tn I know what you mean by 11th hour discussions. Although I doubt I would have cleared had I handled my treatement differently, I certainly was in pretty bad shape before I figured out some things and by that time it was a little late. If I get a chance to do the teleprefir trial, certainly I'll be doing some things differently. Procrit and Neupogen beforehand is one aspect I'm looking at. I'm wondering... you mention risks associated with the Procrit and Neupogen.
560402 tn?1235508894 I am mainly interested in side effects with weekly treatments. I will have them for 3 weeks, a week off and 3 more weekly treatments. Will my hair fall out again or just thin? The doc said thinning but I saw somewhere where it said hair loss. Do you feel crappy the whole time or are there days that are okay? At least I am in Palliative Care and do not have to be home alone all day. Any help is appreciated.
Avatar m tn I had awful bone pain when I was on Neupogen. I've always contended for me, the side effects from Neupogen were as bad if not worse than those from antiviral therapy. It stimulates the colonies of white stem cells within the bone marrow causing the level of neutrophils in the blood to rise. It is common to have aching bones and joints for 2-3 days duration starting 1-2 days after the start of the injections.
Avatar f tn how many shots of the neuprogen do you give yourself before the side effects stop and i mean the pain gopes away i have only had 1 till monday that will be my 2nd
Avatar f tn Lalapple had severe Neutropenia due to bone marrow suppression post tx and I believe was hospitalized for it. She was on Neupogen during much of her treatment and I believe they continued the Neupogen after treatment as well.
1025981 tn?1261093199 I did stagger them by several hours when I did so to allow my body a bit of time to respond to the medications, as well as for me to be able to adjust to an possible side effects I might experience. It was suggested to stagger the injections for the reason I indicate, but was also told that because they could be taken together. My regimen a shot once a day for 3 consecutive days with CBC blood work 2-3 days after the third shot to determine response.
484932 tn?1226513291 I had a pretty easy start of it - Not any really bad side effects except the blood drops in both red and white cells, but by week 36 I was just plumb worn out. From me the last part of tx was a lot worse that the first 6 months. Good luck getting through this.
568898 tn?1228524093 At the begining I had a few aches, pain, feeling hot and cold stuff like that it wasnt to bad but now i am in my 2 month of treatments and some of the side effects are getting worse. My doctor said the side effects will go away the longer i am on the meds. My treatment is for 11 months. Anyone else have this problem too?
