neupogen long term effects

Do any of you have information about any long term side effects if you had Neupogen for 40 weeks?

Doc fears I may need 2 shots a week and does not want to do that yet as he does not know what the long term effects could be if I need it for the next 40 weeks. What are the dangers or long term effects taking Neupogen at this rate, as I am anxious to continue treatment as I am a stage 3, 53 and showed early response.

BUT, I have to take it or I am in pain. So try not to worry so much about the long term effects when you are trying to survive today. If you are worried about this I would talk to my doctor and let them know what you are experiencing and there may be something they can do differently. Just dont stop any seizure med without a doctors help. Hope you feel better..

I have no symptoms and feel great; I am 54 and wondering if HEP C would kill me or if the treatment could cause long term effects that could ruin my health. The longest living male in my family was my father 86 and had slow progressive dementia the last 10 years.

I didn't have any sides from Procrit. The neupogen gave me a slight fever and bone pain in my legs. It really wasn't too bad at all. And it got better with time. You may have to take these drugs for the entire length of treatment although I hope not. You're lucky you're not having sides from interferon. Feel better soon.

After tx was done and continuing the neupogen for an additional 3 weeks, the side effects became more obvious. I believe the Inf/Riba masked the sx making it difficult to separate. As much as I appreciate that neupogen allowed me to not require a dose reduction of interferon, I began to not look forward to the shots, shoving another drug into my body with unknown effects.

It is a long lasting human growth factor and is taken approximately every 3 weeks.The side effects are about the same as neupogen but happen much less frequently. You can think of it as a pegylated neupogen.

Hi, hope your feeling better. I too experienced these side effects when I had my first Neulasta shot back in 2004. I called on call because my fever was over 101 and they told me to go to the ER because of the high fever. They said my white count was high when they did blood work at the ER (I knew because of the shot) but they admitted me because of the fever, but I went home the next day. The side effects didn't last more that 2 days.

I understand the cumulative effects of long-term treatment; I was fine for the first half… the last part of this is starting to drag on though.

I was reading a paper that suggested those that have a 3 unit reduction in hmg have a 55%+ chance of achieving SVR response long term so it's a drag to go thru it suggests a positive long term outcome.

Mother (66F, colon CA IIIB) is starting her 4th round of XELOX (capecitabine+oxaliplatin) and has 4 more to go. Her neutrophils are naturally low (~1.6) without chemo (possibly related to the synthroid she has been taking since 2010?). By round 2 her neutro dropped to .6 so they gave her Neupogen and stopped capecitabine for 4 days. They gave her a longer-acting version of Neupogen before round 3 and lowered the dose of oxa to 90%. Before round 4 her neutro was back down at .9.

I find that really odd - that you are having a reaction to neupogen 16 days after the shot. I believe neupogen is fast acting and does not stay in the system very long. Many cancer patients receive several shots, days in a row, to bring up the WBC levels.

I'm recovering from an abscessed tooth. Mine developed 3 weeks ago and 2 days lator I had to have an Endodonist drain it on an emergency basis because the swelling was already moving up to my eye. I was told to get the tooth extracted because of my medical condition (Type 1 Diabetic). After I got it drained my dentist put me on 4,000mg of Amoxicillin a day becasue I had to get rid of the infection and the swelling had to continue to go down before he extracted the tooth.

what are the long term effects of gonorrhea if you hsave gone untreated for more then a year? does it mess up your fertility?or could you get cancer? or what?
