Avatar n tn Could it be two problems?? Neck pain and the dizzy/spinning could be vertigo. http://www.emedicinehealth.com/vertigo/article_em.
2062559 tn?1331581942 I have transient head, cranial and neck pain and concomitant vertigo. I just had a MRA that covered the circle of willis(no contrast) and a MRA of cervical neck. I've had this problem for 5 months it is less intense as it was but still have balance issues and the sense that I could go into a spin. Am I on the right track with this or do I need to ask for some other kind of test with my neuro doctor? My fear is that nothing will show and he will dismiss it back to menieres.
Avatar f tn It sounds like you may have more than one contributing factor to your symptoms. I would say perhaps the best starting place with the symptoms the way you describe them (as far as a doctor would go) might be with a neurologist. You'll want to get pictures of your neck, since the base of your neck springs off to your headaches. The one sided pain involving an eye-socket and sensitivity to light sounds much like a migraine. They may also want to do an MRI or CT scan of your brain.
957507 tn?1251594207 I was a perfectly healthy on the go, stay at home mom, then in February 2010 I noticed while driving to pick up my teenagers I had neck pain and zaps in the back of my head. They were like jolts of dizziness or unbalance and would freak me out to the point I would pull over immediately. I tried to blow it off but it continued to happen every time I drove especially on hills and elevation changes.
Avatar n tn I have gone to a chiropractic doctor for neck pain, I thought due to the vertigo and I have noticed that after I am adjusted it has help reduce the swaying in my head. I feel it most when I lay down on my back, and when I sit up in a chair. Walking does seem to help. Any ideas?
Avatar m tn Vertigo and dizzyness can be caused by the spasm in your neck. I have had 6 neck fusion and sometimes get vertigo when my neck is stiff or in spasm. If you start having pain or tingling, numbness in your arms see your doctor. Other than that no I don't think it will damage anything. You might want to try a chiropractor also?
Avatar n tn I am also being told that the vertigo is due to inner ear problems not the neck although my ears are fine and have been tested. There is no evidence for this. Is it possible it could be cervicogenic vertigo.? This is not recognised in the U.K.
Avatar f tn Told me that my vertigo stemmed from my shoulder pain. He told me to read a book, Pain Erasure, and gave me a copy of what sort of exercises to do for the vertigo. That was it. My question, what suddenly caused my vertigo, should he have at least checked my ears, is there any other tests that can be done to prove what I have or don't have, and how can I get rid of the shoulder pain, which I have had for over a year.
2062559 tn?1331581942 I'm sorry. Let me be a little more clearer. I've gone down the road of Meniere's disease. The symptoms are different. I have the hearing loss and transient vertigo but much more that Meniere's doesn't. I have severe neck pain, I have a shooting liquid feeling that goes up my neck to my head after sitting and driving for 30-45 min. when I stand up and get out of the car. Is is blood? or is it CSF? I also have unsteadiness (6 months) esp when in the shower with closed eyes.
Avatar f tn Well it helped, but not til after the chiropractic appointment I made. Just a minute after the adjustment to my back and neck I got a vertigo attack. A couple of days after that and a few days into the antibiotics I was feeling all better.
Avatar f tn As I waited for my appointment with a neurologist, other symptoms appeared. My body was itchy and burning, I had muscle spasms and pain, the pain and spasms came along with burning sensations. My neck began hurting so much I felt as if my head was too heavy for it. I had tingling and numbing sensations all over, even on my lips and tongue. I also experienced migranes. I remember having such a bad migrane one saturday morning and ever since I now see visual floaters.
Avatar f tn I had slight dizziness which over months turned into full vertigo every day all day. I’ve had ear pain and weakness with this vertigo. I did end up in hospital with it as i was having heart palpitations this time. Plus suffering with neck pain. My chiropractor touched my temples, neck and instantly put me through a full vertigo attack. It’s sore to touch my temples. I’ve had ecg,echo,24 hour monitor. CT scan, bloods, ear scan 2 months ago and came back clear.
Avatar f tn I've had chronic vertigo ever since I had neck surgery 15 months ago. The C3-4 and C 5-6 levels were fused. Three days after surgery, I felt like I was on a rocky cruise ship. The problem continued for about 2 months, subsided for a few months, then started up again without stopping now for about 9 months. I'm okay in the morning, but the vertigo starts late afternoon and becomes so bad, that it's hard to walk.
Avatar f tn Cervical disease (such as a herniated disc in the cervical (neck) region or arthritis of the spine) can cause vertigo, though this is not common. More often, the dizziness is not room-spinning per se but rather a wooziness or sort of light-headed dizziness. I will refer to this as cervicogenic dizziness. This notion of cervicogenic dizziness is not accepted by all medical practioners, it is controversial, as it is not well researched, difficult to diagnose, and difficult to conduct research on.
1556140 tn?1311846527 Just recently i have started to get neck pain, and horrible vertigo type symptoms whenever i move my head, esp when i look up, i also find that lifting my daughter (2yrs) causes everything to spin and makes the headache worse. I am nauseous and have lost quite a bit of weight recently although i have been eating as normal (nagging husband makes me eat!!!) I am not stressed although i have a history of depression (i am not depressed now, quite the opposite in fact).
921053 tn?1245180795 I feel comfortable saying that the vertigo IS a symptom of the Chiari!!! The neuro-ENT is "confident" my issue is a "neck" related issue and the neurosurgeon is "confident" that the vertigo is vestibular. The "neck" issue makes sense because my brain is protruding into the spinal cord, which is in my neck!?!?! The neuro-ENT is not seeing me anymore because of his theory of the neck issue and the neurosurgeon thinks I need to be seeing the ENT!!!!
Avatar m tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.
Avatar f tn Patients with dizziness due to neck pathology (cervicogenic dizziness) often complain of dizziness that is worse with particular head movements and when the head is maintained in one specific posture for prolonged periods. Neck pain and a headache in the occipital region (the back of the head above the neck) may be associated with the dizziness. The dizziness may last minutes to hours after assuming certain head positions.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of cervical disc bulge. This pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head & shoulders (as it blades)- LHERMITTES SIGN, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants.
Avatar n tn Thoughts on the below symptoms I have been experiencing?
Avatar f tn I think neck injuries can cause vertigo. If my neck hurts or if I put pressure on it, I get migraines and vertigo. The sleep issue became a habit, I couldn't sleep because I was distracted by noise. A week later there was no noise but I got addicted to benadryl and other things to make me sleepy. Then I began to panic and so forth. Try to get a MRI of your cervical spine and if necessary get therapy. I also apply heat on my neck when it hurts and it helps.
Avatar f tn for the past 7 days i have been having back pain with stiff neck or pain in my neck because i can still turn my head it's just that it's painfull when i turn it, but today i experienced slight dizziness , i have gone to the hospital and i was given some medication, but the pain still persist. what could be the cause?
Avatar f tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region (as it sounds like is the case in you), restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications including anti-inflammatories (NSAIDs such as ibuprofen), muscle relaxants, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.
