Avatar m tn Neck pain with numbness in fingers, neck is locked in, feel very lite headed, any ideas?
Avatar f tn I sustained an injury to my neck 20 years ago. It seems to start in the spine up near the base of my neck. After a few hours i feel my muscles in my back and along my shouldars start to become painful. The pain gets so bad it begins to burn. I now that it is the nerve endings that's causing the pain. I take Curcumin for the pain and use cold on my spine and hot packs on my muscles. I am always in pain and going to three Chiropractors has not fixed the problem.
Avatar n tn then I was told it may be infammatory Arthritis I take antiinflammatories and pain medication. I recently had a neck CT scan as most of my pain radiates from there. I was told today that my C2 and C3 have fused together. I have never had surgery but about 18 months ago I suffered a neck injury at work, when I went to the hospital I was given anti inflammatories and a muscle relaxants as I was told i pulled a muscle, and told to take 3 days off.
Avatar f tn the only symptom i have thats worth complaining about is bad constant neck pain and, about once a month for the past year, my neck will stiffen for no apparent reason. the stiffening lasts 3-5 fays before i can start to move again. i dont have headaches but i feel like something is "lodged" in my neck right at the base of my skull. i havent been able to turn my head to my shoulders for a looong time.
Avatar f tn For the past four days, I have experienced these odd symptoms that are becoming more and more unbearable. My upper neck has been hurting, but I have this odd burning pain when I turn my head or when I try to lift something even. Feels like a hot poker's being inserted there. But I also have this pain in the back of my head, on the right side, an area maybe an inch in diameter that's very tender, especially to touch. No headache, just a tenderness to touch, very sore.
Avatar m tn While we were grappling, I rolled the wrong way and ended up twisting my neck really bad. The injury took about 2 weeks to heal, and during the initial stages of the injury I couldn't turn my head at all without feeling acute pain. During that time, I also realised (painless) swelling on the side of my neck that was twisted, and the shoulder on the same side also sagged below the opposite shoulder.
Avatar m tn It will depend on the results of your cervical spine MRI what type of treatment would be effective to relieve your symptoms. I believe the physical therapist is correct in thinking that your neck vertebrae are the pain generators. Please post the results of your MRI and we might be able to assist you better. While it is possible to have a concurrent shoulder injury/bursitis, the shoulder pain could have also been related to your neck problems.
Avatar m tn Well this is a bit of a late reply, but I'll do it anyway. I think you should get an MRI of your neck. This sounds very similar to my symptoms I've had from my "shoulder" injury which it turns out was a neck injury. Most of my pain started in the top shoulder and the muscle going from the shoulder to the side of the neck. Shortly after that the pain went to my armpit and the back of my shoulder.
Avatar m tn Neck soft tissue injury, then, the aseptic inflammation in the neck, caused these symptoms. As soft tissue injury in the attachment point which is muscles and ligaments connect area, poor blood circulation, therefore, it is easy to become chronic pain, if not promptly treated, may produce more symptoms which is common characteristics of a lot of chronic patients.
Avatar m tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.
Avatar f tn Irritation of the anterior fibers of C2-3 spinal nerves with spasm of the muscles attached to hyoid bone could be responsible for your symptoms. This usually happens due to injury as in surgery or postural problems causing curving of lower cervical spine. This at times responds to corrective physiotherapy and wearing cervical braces/collars.
Avatar f tn Has anyone had a similar injury? I am 43 and had no previous back, neck pain or migraines!!! I have been told I have stenosis too. Conservative treatment has been recommended. My spinal cord did is slightly narrowed at C5-C6 but no nerve involvement. Any advice on how to cope with/cure pain?
Avatar f tn I am glad that you found us and took the time to post your concern... but sorry to hear about your painful injury. It sounds promising that you pain has eased. This may be a strain/sprain. Don't think that is a simply DX. Sprain/stains often take time to heal and be painful and bothersome for months. I would encourage you to continue to research your pain/injured area. Know the anatomy, structure and function of the site.
Avatar f tn The headaches may develop early (within 2 weeks) or they may not develop these migraines until months following the injury. Many patients have associated neck and posterior occipital pain. The cervical pain and headaches may resolve at different times. There may be other associated symptoms like poor concentration, irritability, sensitivity to noise or bright lights, depression, dizziness or vertigo, tinnitus, memory problems, fatigue, insomnia, nervousness or anxiety.
Avatar m tn I am not really sure if the medicine you take will ever do anything for your numbness symptoms, but I do know it will help the pain aspect of your symptoms, which was proved when you went off the drug and all this pain shot into your arms and hands. The reason I'm not sure if it will help your numbness is becuz I have that, and yet Lyrica does not help it.
Avatar n tn The c6-c7 caused great pain in my right neck, shoulder, arm and into the last 2 right fingers. Saw a surgeon, but pain had went away, so no surgery suggested. My symptoms now are lightheadedness, nausea, pain in the neck, stumble periodically, numbness ini left shoulder/chest into my left hand. Noticing motor skills slightly diminishiing, constant headaches. Best laying flat on my back or wearing a c-collar to work.
Avatar m tn Physical therapy makes the neck pain worse and not better. This also makes my head and other symptoms worse. Again does this not warrant more investigation? I feel as though I am being ignored and just told to take a medication that makes me feel worse that I already had. If anyone knows of a better path to take to recovery form this injury. I would greatly appreciate the advice.

Avatar n tn I also have neck pain and pain in both hands, wrists and forearms. CT and xrays night of accident were negative. This is causing moderate impairment in my daily living and I seem to get severly angry since these sx's have progressed. What is going on?
Avatar m tn I am tired all the time, though I do have good days where I feel energetic and have only pain associated with an injury. I have been having problems sleeping, falling asleep, waking and not being able to fall back asleep, not feeling rested upon waking. I usually get every joint in my body arthritic symptoms once a year but it seems to be getting worse. As of recently I have been having chest pain, and left arm pain and numbness (indicative of a heart attack, but no heart attack).
Avatar m tn You may certainly have wrist tendonitis, but why the neck and shoulder pain. The pain and numbness you are having could be from your neck and an EMG would assist with that answer. It is a nerve conduction study. You also need an xray and MRI of your neck to rule out that as a cause for your numbness. I would see a neurologist.
