Common Questions and Answers about Neck pain sleep positions

neck

Avatar m tn I still sleep on my side, when my neck is not killing me. What I would say is make sure you have some Tylenol or other pain reliever of your choice in the house, and just try sleeping different ways and see if it hurts or if it is something you can do. That would really be the only way to see what works for you.
Avatar n tn You can sleep on your stomach until it gets uncomfortable and your uterus is small enough that you can sleep on your back at the moment. Sleeping on your back is discouraged though because the weight of your uterus compresses your inferior vena cava as it grows. Your side is the best and ideally the left side, as it's best for circulation.
472570 tn?1274685887 Its either to high and it puts pain in my neck or to low and its uncomfortable. Light and music set them off also. Laying on my back helps but its uncomfortable. I feel that laying on your strong side helps the migraine that's why I lay on my right side.
Avatar f tn Hi ladies, Just hoping someone could help me out with a query.. I'm 27 weeks pregnant and I've been told recently that it's not good to sleep on your back during pregnancy, but to sleep on your left side, now I can only sleep on my right side mostly whilst still remaining comfortable - is sleeping on my right side going to affect my baby? Thanks in advance for you're help and advice.
Avatar f tn Does anyone have any suggestions on sleep positions without neck pain.? I am dealing with cervical arthritis/damage and broad based disc osteophyte complex with moderately severe bilateral neural foraminal narrowing stenosis to C-3-4-5-6-7. Most sleep positions I've tried results in headaches upon awakening or radiating shoulder/arm pain. Aside from sleeping, has anyone had any experience with facet joint injections? or cervical injections? both done by pain management doctors?
5569747 tn?1370091638 Sleep positions are often the culprit for many neck and back issues. You should attempt to learn a new position that does not put your arms or neck in a contorted position. Try a new pillow, etc.

3053649 tn?1356365017 I had to train myself to sleep on my left side at 13 weeks. Its hard to just sleep on your side but you get used to it eventually. You can sleep on your stomach until it's uncomfortable but try not to sleep on your back as often.
Avatar f tn What are some comfortable sleeping positions? I couldn't sleep at all last night, I kept tossing and turning. I always sleep with a pillow in between my legs, but that wasn't helping.
Avatar f tn so now I sleep either on my side or back..
Avatar f tn Its recommended that you don't sleep on your back because it puts a lot of pressure on your organs and spine, especially after 4 months or so. But if its comfy for you and not making you sore, I don't think its terrible. You just may want to prepare for some discomfort later on if you do it all the time.
Avatar m tn at the end of the that workout I had a bit of a pain on my neck which was familiar to me because I had similar pain in the same workout before many times but it healed on its own. However, the pain that time was extremely worse when I tried to sleep that day. I woke up having stiff neck and couldn't move my head from side to side. I thought it would be muscle problem so I tried using NSAID pills, topical gel and Recombinant Hirudin gel which made me feel better by time.
Avatar f tn I have ACM 1, my last MRI showed it only at about 7 mm which was a little over a year ago. Last week I was sitting on the couch and had pain in my neck. This happens a lot but always goes away once I get up and start moving or just change positions on the couch. However, this time it got A LOT worse! The pain is simply debilitating when I lay down! In fact I've had to keep a towel under my neck to help me move it when I'm laying down.
Avatar f tn would you mind looking at my post about neck pain? I posted last night and it's down the list a little. . .I'm wondering if what I'm experiencing is a neurological problem or unrelated to the "probably early MS" that my dr is talking to me about. Thanks!
