Avatar f tn My 40 yr old daughter has had chronic neck pain the last 3-1/2 yrs with pain 24/7. Most medications no longer help and she has been detoxed once to give her body a chance to get relief from meds. I might add she also has fibromyalgia. She was diagnosed w/disc disease and 6 mo. ago she had the removal of 2 herniated discs in the neck area. Prior to this she was seen by numerous skilled doctors from 1 end of the country to the other, who could not find what was wrong.
Avatar n tn Initially supportive measures are tried like painkillers for pain and physiotherapy for relief of symptoms. Other operative options are Anterior cervical discectomy to relieve the compression due to prolapsed disc and decompression laminectomy for canal stenosis to create more space for the spinal cord. Hope this helps. Best wishes.
1672915 tn?1335220598 I am 5 mnths post op and still have unbearable pain in my neck, left shoulder that sometimes go down my arm, low back and right hip pain. Last mnth I had Mri's done and my surgeon said they look good. I went and saw a pain Dr. and he put me on a muscle relaxer that's supposed to help but so far it hasn't. I am having more pain now then I did before surgery and I am becoming very depressed. I am worried that when I go back to the pain Dr.
611254 tn?1223914841 My regular down pillow is just compounding my neck problems. Last night my neck pain was so bad I had my third ever in my lifetime migrane headache. The towel behind my neck and my pillow over my eyes and ears really helped get me to sleep.
Avatar n tn Last weekend I woke up in the middle of the night with excruciating pain on my left side along with bloating and a lot of tenderness. I called the dr. on Tuesday and had an ultrasound done on Wednesday (this is the first time I've has the US done this close to pain and exactly midcycle). The results of the ultrasound showed a small fibroid (found previously...but hasn't changed) and 11 small cysts-5 on my right ovary and 6 on my left. Very small- .5 cm to be exact.
1554181 tn?1294328303 With the rizotomy I still have all the other symptoms, the discomfort in neck and head is the worst of them, but at least no pain. This gives me quality of life I otherwise would not have had. My neurosurgeon prefers not to operate unless it becomes critical to do so. In South Africa not many cases of ACM is seen. I am lucky to be at a NS who has knowledge of it and is careful in his treatment. It does not take away the ACM or change the progression, only controls pain.
Avatar f tn What are the pain relief options during pregnancy I already know I don't want a shot in my back but are there any other options?
Avatar m tn Is there anything you can do at home to help releive the pain in your wrist, its so bad I just want to give up!!
370181 tn?1595629445 Hi there, It sounds to me like you need to find another doctor or a pain management clinic who will work with you on finding the best pain relief options, including careful use of opioids. It seems to me you've exhausted all other options and your research is solid. If it were me, I would "fire" the doctor who refuses to treat you as a partner in your own treatment.
Avatar m tn This is my first posting on this forum. My neck pain has become much worse with time. I initially had a pinched nerve and then the pain started in my neck and went down my arm. I feel fine when I hold my arm over my head. I got x-rays and MRI done at OrthoTexas. The doctors over there said I have cervical neck pain and it needs to be treated asap. I am looking for a second opinion. Please help.
Avatar n tn Are you experiencing any associated neck pain or arm pain? Have you noticed any tingling or numbness of your extremities? If heat does provide good relief, it may be that you have a muscle sprain/strain that has not resolved completely. The only way to confirm the true cause of your discomfort is to obtain a medical evaluation and have the appropriate testing done to enable the doctor to provide a definitive diagnosis and treatment options.
Avatar f tn i have contant pain in my back, and severe pain in my neck at certain times. my neck goes out severely every 2 months where i can not turn my neck without severe pain.it takes 48 hours of taking muscle relaxant and antiinflammatory. also pain meds. i usually feel better if i take all 3 on a time schedule.then i feel usually better except for dull ackey pain.it has diffinetely affected my quality of living. i do not want to take all those meds all the time to feel half way descent.my dr.
Avatar f tn Tension headaches usually present with dull-type of headache. While pain at the back of head or neck that intensifies on movement may be caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help provide relief. If your present medications do not help, inform your doctor for proper management.Change of dosage or medicine may be indicated. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn I urge you to see your Dr and find out your options for relief.

Avatar m tn The treatment they prescribed was getting cold injections to the nerves in neck and head. She received three treatments over the past year with some short term relief of pain but always come back. Beside this treatment she been doing a routine of physiotherapy, deep tisse massage, water therapy with some relief but not enough. She is going to start acupunture soon.
Avatar f tn I have had steroidal injections, medial branch blocks and have had nerve burning procedures on both sides of my neck. Everything has made the pain worse especially the nerve burning. The back of the neck has been swollen since April of 2013 when they did the last nerve burning and the area continues to get larger. I get 3, 10mg Percocets a day for pain. Needless to say, I spend most days in bed.
