1672915 tn?1335220598 I am 5 mnths post op and still have unbearable pain in my neck, left shoulder that sometimes go down my arm, low back and right hip pain. Last mnth I had Mri's done and my surgeon said they look good. I went and saw a pain Dr. and he put me on a muscle relaxer that's supposed to help but so far it hasn't. I am having more pain now then I did before surgery and I am becoming very depressed. I am worried that when I go back to the pain Dr.
Avatar m tn Are you still taking pain meds? I would call you NS and tell them about this. You don't need to be in pain. I would suggest heat and ice also. I know when I have HA's like this I put the heating pad on my head and put a pillow on top of it. For some reason for me it takes some of the pressure off. Try this and I pray it helps you also. Taking your pain med's in a timely pattern helps.
1380526 tn?1292839385 Anyone have any new ideas that will help for the head and neck pain we go through? I have tried vicodin, gabapentin, nortryptyline (sp), and a myriad of over the counter stuff, like Alleve, Tylenol, etc. I'm just not getting much relief at all!!!! Thanks!
Avatar f tn Has anyone found any tips or tricks to help relieve some of these symptoms? Head pressure, neck pain, and balance problems make everything so difficult. I'm a newbie here and don't see the neuro until April. I haven't been given a dx yet but my gp says that my MRI shows that the base of my brain is extending down into my spinal column. It really looks to me like I have chiari and I just want some relief!
Avatar f tn Yup, that sounds like my lesions. I've got some diffuse enhancement in my neck, but it's old. I've also got a lesion at T6 and T8, and one in the conus. With spine/neck lesions, you're going to get what's called 'banding' - sensory symptoms around your torso that are from the damage in your spine. Sometimes you'll hear this referred to as the MS hug. That's a little misleading, because it sounds like you're getting a nice hug.
Avatar f tn My occipital nodes are also swollen and have been for weeks along with pretty severe neck pain at the base of my skull. My primary ordered blood work to check for infection as the cause of the swollen lymph nodes, but nothing showed up. Tonight it's so bad that I can't sleep (it's 4:40am). I just don't know what else to do and I think my drs are getting sick of hearing from me all the time. I'm in misery! Completely not able to function and haven't been for a month.
Avatar n tn I have been suffering from constant head/neck pain for over 10 years. The pain begins behind the ear, right side above the base of the skull. It radiates down the spine below the shoulder blades. I have had the following treatments: cervical spine fusion c5/c6 due to rupture disk, botox injections to the head, neurostimulater implant 4 yrs then removed, steroid injections, and taken huge quantities of narcotic pain relievers.
Avatar n tn Make an appointment to see your doctor. The doctor will be able to examine your neck movements, send you for imaging to be done by x-ray or other to find out if there is any underlying cause. Have you been involved in any accident where your neck was jarred abruptly? Having wrong posture doing keyboard work and also getting caught in a draught, like a window open in the car, can also cause neck problems. See the doctor to find out the cause so that you can get the appropriate treatment.

Avatar f tn I have had 4 neck surgeries, I have degenerate discs disease. I was just diagnosed with Chiari a few months ago after having more continuous headaches, migraines, dizziness, and blurred vision. What type of neck pain are you having,? Do you see a pain specialist? Most MD’s don’t handle pain management. Especially with the opioid issues here in the US. If you are here in the US, you need to see a neurologist or neurosurgeon and possibly a pain management dr.
Avatar f tn Stripping, swimming and having and ac on and fan blowing on me is doing nothing.. I even do cold compresses on the back of my neck and chest and it doesnt help... Anyone have this issue?
Avatar f tn The first thing they need to figure out is if you have nerve pain or muscle pain or both. For muscle pain it would be muscle relaxers like Baclefin or Zanaflex or something similar. For nerve pain in the states they use Gabenpentin which is a seizure medicine or Lyrica or Trileptal. Or sometimes anti depressants such as Amitryptoline. For headaches they use Topamax as a preventative. I take Immitrex for my migraines.
Avatar f tn What is the best pain relief to take when you have Hep C ? I am not on treatment at this time and i have chronic back problems as well as the pains and fatigue associated with the virus.
Avatar f tn I have been going to a chiropractor for much pain in my neck that a neurologist only injected pain meds at a high cost to only give me relief for a day. I have found the decompression has helped me tremendously with the pain and has help alleviate the pain down my shoulder. I have sever arthritis and the neurologist said surgery is not an option. My chiropractor will be working with decompression in the next couple of months after we get the neck well.
Avatar f tn 7. Most of my pain is on the left side of my neck but the herniation is on the right. I suffer from horrible headaches everyday. They are treating me right now with cervical facet injections, and suggested burning off the said nerves completly. How will this affect the pain that is so dominate on the left side of my neck. And will this procedure help or possibly make the situation worse with all that is wrong with my neck and head? I should also mention that I have a seizure disorder.
Avatar f tn In my experience, if this pain is nerve root pain from your neck, it may do no good to try and treat your hand or arm where you feel the pain, and OTC pain meds might not help as much as one would hope. Try applying ice or moist heat or both to your neck, instead, to see if this lessens the pain in your arm. I've also found that regular X-rays do not always show a herniated disk, but that an MRI is sometimes required.
Avatar f tn and also try heat pad or icy hot those heat pads work miriacles when i get pain in my lower back
Avatar m tn poor posture can also create or add to these problems...narcotics are not for pain relief..only changes our perception of pain where anti-inflamatories, ice etc actually do provide real pain relief..food for thought...
