Avatar m tn She has high blood pressure, RA, osteoporosis and bones spurs in her neck. The surgery on the bone spurs would go through the front of her neck. My dad is healthy, but 86. The only reason for the surgery is that she has pain, but is on pain meds now.......Should she have the surgery with all the risks, or just tough it out with pain meds? Would recuperation belong and difficult with an 86 year old caretaker. I live far away....
Avatar n tn Hi, My 82 year old father has a sensation of hotness down the left side of his body. It begins from his neck/shoulder and ends at his feet. It is a very hot burning sensation and presents with numbness in the affected leg (left leg). It is always there. None of the doctors have been able to treat it or find out what is causing it. It effects him so badly sometimes that he even gets a pain around his waist and if he is walking, he has to sit down immediately.
1485696 tn?1312405527 Seems like I have some off the wall symptoms compared to others. I have been dealing with neck pain again for the past week, which has gotton unbearable and radiating the past two days. No new neuro symptoms with it, but this is exactly what my first MS episode presented itself as, except it was on my right side, and this time it is on my left. I have a call into my doc, waiting to hear back to see if she wants me to start on steriods or not.
Avatar n tn Hello, You have not mentioned your age but from your symptoms osteoporosis should be ruled out. Osteoporosis is the thinning of bone tissue and loss of bone density over time. There are several medications used to treat osteoporosis, depending on gender and severity of disease. Medications themselves can be classified as antiresorptive or bone anabolic agents.
450257 tn?1268343617 About 10 years ago I started having severe lower back pain. Was diagnosed and treated (non-surgical) for 2 bulging/ruptured discs. Condition improved with cortisone injections and PT. A year or so passed with no more problems and during that time I quit my job and started my own business, which left me with no insurance. Began having problems off and on over the course of the following 3 or 4 years. Self treated with bed rest, ice & heat.
470872 tn?1207414069 Can Osteoporosis cause severe foot pain? I am finding that both my feet are very painful to walk on and have swelling in the mid foot area. I also have pain in the ankles. I have had an MRI scan a few weeks ago but have to wait until the end of August for my results appointment with the Orthopaedic Consultant. An untrasound did not show any sign of damage to the plantar fascia.
Avatar m tn You see, your hands and fingers are innervated by nerves that start from the lower neck. You may have neck pain or maybe stiffness, but maybe not. If you have DJD (which is Arthritis) or another type of arthritis, it is possible to have these symptoms. However, simply guessing the diagnosis, won't solve the issue. You might want to try things that may help neck alignment and posture. True neck traction, a good neck pillow...

Avatar n tn I have neck and back pain everyday. The MRI showed small herniated disks in neck but the back MRI was clear. I have pain in the middle of my back and anything physical makes it worse. It all started with severe migraines. My hands shake now all the time and the pain in unexplained still after not working for 5 months. My physical therapist believes that it is a sympathetic nervous system problem but doesnt think i should still be in so much pain. My family Dr.

Avatar n tn Hi, I was diagnosed with Arthritis, Osteoporosis & a curvature to my lower back. My job is a cleaner which is heavy work, bending, lifting etc. Should I stop this work because of the diagnosis? Thank you.
470872 tn?1207414069 I have been prescribed Tramadol but find they make me too woosy in the head. I was wondering if anyone else who had osteoporosis had such pain. I get very tired and can only do housework in short bursts and then need to rest. When I go out shopping my feet are painful to stand and walk on. I am waiting for results of MRI scan on my feet and it has taken such a long time for my appointment. I suppose I am not an urgent case, by the length of time it has taken to get my appointment.
1763947 tn?1334055319 Egads, I have calcification in my neck. While I had neck pain before my "severe allergic reaction to a tick bite," I was not seen by a specialist and diagnosed until over a year after the incident. Makes me wonder...

Avatar n tn My mother has been experiencing rather odd sensations for the last 3 weeks. She sees a film over her eyes lasting a second or two, blurring in her left eye, accompanied by some discomfort/sensations above and below her eyes, the back of her neck and head. She also feels some sensations in her jaw. This happens, irregularly, but when she makes slight head movements right, left or down. None of this occurs if her eyes are shut! TIAs have been ruled out by her cardiologist.
Avatar m tn My mother in law is 66 and was diagnosed with osteoporosis 6 months ago, but only Calcium tablets were advised then. A detailed bone density test was done now. The doctor has prescribed annual Zoledronic acid injection (Novartis ), and Teriparatide injections . My questions are: 1) Should oral Bisphosphanates be preferred over intravenous ? 2) Will Bisphosphonates be sufficient in this case, or are Teriparatides needed ?
551343 tn?1506830518 Dear Maria. Sorry to hear about all this. A friend of mine is a Radiologist in Europe. After having reviewed thousands of scans and x-rays over the years he basically told me that almost every single person over 50 shows a degree of spinal deterioration to be concerned with. Some people with very similar profiles and deterioration have absolutely no pain! And yet others with the exact same givens, suffer from chronic and sometimes excruciating pain. He seemed very perplexed.
Avatar f tn Aquatherapy with pain medications and low level laser therapy could be helpful in reducing your pain and getting you more mobile.

Avatar f tn femoral neck -1.3, total hip -1.9, spine -1.4. My new scores--1 year later--are: femoral neck -2.8, total hip -2.0, spine -1.5. > > That femoral score seems outrageous to me. Is it possible for a score to drop that much in 1 year? I'd have a hard time believing it if it just dropped to -1.8, let alone -2.8. I don't think they've ever dropped more than 0.4 before. I'm thinking there was some sort of mistake. What do you think?
