Avatar n tn I wanted to know if back and neck strain can cause headaches? I recently started playing fastball again and I can barely move my right arm and my neck, shoulders and back are so sore, but I've also been having chronic headaches for about a week now. Could this be due to the soreness or muscle strain?

Avatar f tn all can agrivate your neck muscles as well as stressful situations.....even driving can strain your neck and cause more pain.....try anything that heps you relax..a warm bath, darkened room, with your favorite music....and avoid activities that put a strain on your neck and shoulders. Read at eye level....looking down can hurt as much as looking up.
Avatar n tn About 3 or 4 days ago I started getting pain starting on both sides of my neck, starting at my jaw line. It radiates down and into my shoulders. It's a kind of burning pain. Don't take any medications. When it happens it lasts a few minutes then stops but usually starts again right away, then stops totally.
Avatar n tn I have a pain on the left side of my neck and my left arm has a tingling feeling all the way down to my fingers. I've had this feeling for about 2 years now. know what could be causing it?
Avatar f tn Now two months later the cold/flu symptoms have subsided and I now just feel dizzy all the time and my neck has become abnormally heavy, making it hard to hold my head up. The neck pain is the worst of it, I am waking up in the night having panic attacks of some sort. I find that when the pain gets worse I go numb, mainly my head and arms. I am currently under a lot of strain from my university workload and my part-time job.
Avatar n tn Pain at only one side of the head and associated symptoms like orbital pain (eye pain) could be most likely suggestive of facial migraine. One may experience throbbing headaches and could be worsened by normal physical activity. Other symptoms may be nausea, vomiting and facial pain. A doctor can diagnose the migraine after understanding symptoms and examining you. Triggering factors that may induce your migraine attack may be stress or depression, bright lights, loud noise and traveling.

Avatar n tn ve seen the DO 4 times, seen a dentist for possible TMJ, seen an ENT (nothing wrong in my throat after looking inside), seen a neurologist (nothing neurological, he sid ) about my neck pain for 9-10 weeks. the pain subsides a bit when i am standing up and i feel the front of my neck tightening when i am sitting down. i have asked over and over but got no answer if there is some muscle pulling somewhere that's straining my neck when i sit down?
Avatar f tn I have severe neck pain as well on my left side. After an MRI of the cervical spine, it showed severe arthritis between my C3-C5. I have an injection done about a month ago and it didn’t do anything. Next step will be a procedure (not sure of the name) to where they burn the nerves.
1232362 tn?1333135406 over the past 2 weeks, but especially past 24 hrs I've had increasing neck pain that I also feel on the outside of my right arm. I now have pain doing things like lifting light items like a quart of milk or opening the venetian blinds, turning my head to the right is painful. The pain is not like a typical stiff neck, but like I'm being sliced open with no anesthesia. I do have a herniated disc at c6 which I had a cervical epidural for almost a year ago. Could this be acting up again?
Avatar f tn Let us know what the doctor said. My jaw also hurts along with neck and back pain and also the front of my neck is under muscle strain constantly. Just had the C4-C7 fusion and didn't help jaw pain at all. Would like to hear what your doc said. Thanks!
1187071 tn?1279369698 I am not sure what I did but when I got up this morning, I turned my head and got a really bad pain in my neck and it is sharp and it goes all the way up the back up my head, and it makes my head hurt. I have never had a pain like this before and with it being my neck and head it scares me. I don't know if I should wait it out and see if it goes away or get it check out. Any advice would be great.
Avatar m tn s why you feel pain in your neck, and is probably why the pain extends up to your head. Also, your head pain, you probably bruised the heck out of it, so it's going to be sore for a while. Best thing you can do is slow and easy stretching exercises to loosen up your neck and shoulders where it got jammed up. As for the bruise on your head, aspirin usually helps. I suppose you could have cracked your skull or got a concussion, in which case that will take a lot longer to feel better...
Avatar m tn Is it anything when you get a sharp pain in neck that goes into head. Doesn't last long and doesn't happen often.

Avatar n tn Last night I tried sleeping in a position beneficial to my spine, by propping up my legs on pillows and laying on a rolled up pillow under my neck. I fell asleep like that and woke up like that and this morning the pain was agony...ten times worse. It really feels like someone twisted my neck violently. Doing anything hurts, even just keeping my head straight or nodding the slightest bit. Even taking a deep breath sends a sharp stab down my neck and back. Where the heck did this come from??

Avatar n tn Hello, whenever I breathe in hard or deep, or laugh even I feel some soreness by some veins on the right side of the neck. Two days ago I did go drinking and I did some throwing up after wards. Could this have played a role or maybe there is something more serious going on. The pain only seems to be there when doing some straining like breathing in hard or laughing. There is no pain when I turn my neck back and forth which makes me think maybe it's not a strain....
Avatar m tn Gastroesophageal reflux disease is another possibility. The common causes of chest pain are muscle strain, sprain, pleurisy, asthma, costochondritis.A bruised or broken rib, and panic attack all can lead to pain in chest.GERD can cause heartburn and chest discomfort. If the pain is on left side of chest and is accompanied with sweating, shortness of breath it can be an indication of heart attack etc. There are many other things it could be so if it persists you should seek medical help.
Avatar n tn Much of neck pain is actually muscle pain. When you moved the neck, you relaxed the muscle some, and so when you repeated the movement it didn't hurt. But neck pain also usually comes with some pressure on the nerves as well as on the muscles and so the pain can move around. When you say overexertion, exactly what did you do? If you strained some muscles, they take as long as they take to heal. Long for some, quick for others. Quick for young people, longer for older folks.
Avatar m tn We have different things in the front of our neck that can cause pain. The most common is muscle pain. There are both outer and inner muscles of the front of neck that can become strained. Poor posture or prolonged periods of holding the head in a certain position or even sleeping on it wrong could result in muscle strain. And obviously any type of traumatic event that leads to whiplash would cause muscle issues in the front of the neck.
Avatar f tn Hi, Thanks for your response, i must say this pain has been lingering all week first three days i have very limited movement and noticed it is esp painful/hard to pull my neck back (trying to drink from a cup) i was convinced it was just strain and it was getting better, However i have had a burning pain and throbbing in my neck the whole weekend and have woken up this morning with such terrible pain, i cant put my head back again something is catching as i do, i think it could be a trapped nerv
