But then I wake up this morning and the whole back of my neck is in pain, and I cant stretch it or touch it without pain. And it comes with verry annoying pains in both temples and ears and behind my eyes as well. And thats not the worst part, my shoulders both are in pain when I move them, or lift things. All the way down to the palms of my hands, and then when I change sleeping positions at night, my hips hurt the same way and all the way down to my feet ..
I've had this problem for more than an year now. I was once studying at night and fell asleep on my study table. Woke up early in the morning and found my pain and back aching. Didn't seem much of a problem at that time. However the pain increased by afternoon. I didn't consider it any major thing and turned my head a bit sideways. It helped. Sort of. Momentarily. The pain became persistent and I again turned my head. This sort of became a habit and I've still been doing it!
Took bone from my hip, and basically screwed and glued my neck. Now at the time I had no feeling in my left arm and immediately the next morning I saw an immediate difference. I took off a month from work having 3 disks repaired and went back to work. Getting over the surgery really takes about a year. Some trouble off and on but rubbing the shoulders works great. I was serious scared to death about going via my throat but it made sense when I checked how its done.
I can tell when I get muscle spasms in my back and legs but for last few days have had a feeling on the back of my neck like someone hung a 20# purse around it and I had to lug it around all day..........
Trying to decide if its MS spasms or what. It comes and goes, this time, its been here for a few days, and eventually it will go away, to come back again. My usual pain med/spasm med cocktail doesn't touch it, nor does Aleve or my other goodies.
My wife has had the above condition for several years. Sudden pain from top of neck which travels almost to back of her head. Until recently, these episodes have ended almost immediately and the pain went away. The episodes occur about twice/three times per month.... always during the morning - before noon. Very recently, the attacks have become worse whereby she has to lie down and take a pain killer (GP advice).
I am a LimboLander with an uncomfortable new symptom--or maybe not a symptom?? I have a stiff neck--and not the kind that you get after you sleep weird--and not like something is "out." It's just this line of pain from my neck dowm my right arm--and up to my jaw--I feel stupid asking because maybe it's just a stiff neck--but I've never had pain like this before and was just wondering if this sounds like something to add to my log of sx or if it seems unrelated.
For almost a month now I've been waking up every morning with a painful neck muscle. It's located in the back of my neck on the left side just above where the shoulder and neck meet. It's most noticeable when I turn or move my head in certain ways. It's at its worst first thing in the morning and is less noticeable throughout the day. I've tried changing pillows, heating pads and changing what position I sleep in.
I'm female, 32yrs old, I've been experiencing neck and back pain for more than a year now. it comes and goes away. At first i thought it was a stiff neck but the pain would last for months and the doctor gave me some meds which wasnt really helpful. Usually it starts out like a stiff neck and pain on my shouders then after a few days the stiffness goes away but everytime i turn my head to the left or raise my head upward i would feel pain along the right side of my spine.
so i had the worst migrane of me life last saturday, i thought i was haveing a stroke, so i went to the emergency room and the gave me a shot of morphine and sent me home, i had to wait 4 hours in pain to be seen. the headache was gone by monday but on tuesday i noticed my neck was totally stiff, it hurts to turn left or right, up or down and its makeing my head feel tight, even my nerves to my right eye and upper right teeth kinda hurt.
The neck pain is also more like a burning type of pain. The pain gets worse when I yawn. If I touch the space between the two bones at back of my head it starts hurting. When i also turn my head far to right/left i feel pain in my shoulder area. I can’t really think of any other symptoms I might have. I have done an MRI from my neck 2 years ago and a CT scan from my head (no dye was used). They both came back normal. I’m very worried about having a brain tumor.
Last night I tried sleeping in a position beneficial to my spine, by propping up my legs on pillows and laying on a rolled up pillow under my neck. I fell asleep like that and woke up like that and this morning the pain was agony...ten times worse. It really feels like someone twisted my neck violently. Doing anything hurts, even just keeping my head straight or nodding the slightest bit. Even taking a deep breath sends a sharp stab down my neck and back.
Where the heck did this come from??
Now a year later I feel this heavy pressure in the back of my neck....No pain into my arm or in my neck - Just pressure and a slight on and off pain in my shoulder. (I also tore my rotator cuff a few years back).
I generally feel pretty good in the morning and the pressure gets worse as the days goes on. I feel better when laying down as opposed to standing up. In addition at times I feel pressure in my ears. I did go to an ENT for this twice and both times he said my ears were fine.
