Common Questions and Answers about Neck pain medication

Avatar n tn Without medication pain level is above 10, after medication pain level is 9. My pain is so severe that it appears to lock the turning of my neck to the right. I am asking for any help regarding if there is exercises for this type of problem. My mornings after waking are the worse for me. I have been sleeping with 2 pillows under my legs, flat on my back, and 1 pillow under my head but this doesn't seem to be helping either. Is there any help for me?
Avatar n tn About 3 or 4 days ago I started getting pain starting on both sides of my neck, starting at my jaw line. It radiates down and into my shoulders. It's a kind of burning pain. Don't take any medications. When it happens it lasts a few minutes then stops but usually starts again right away, then stops totally.

Avatar m tn I am already on Amitryptiline which controls my headaches and was on Tramadol to help with the pain and stiffness in my neck, head, shoulders, and back. I stopped taking it 4 months ago because my tolerance was getting too high and have just been taking muscle relaxers and over the counter stuff. But it's just not helping to deal with the level of pain I have and it's worse being off of the painkillers than being dependent on it.
Avatar m tn The headaches are what bothers me at work the most, ive had to call in a few times which at my job is becoming to be unacceptable unless you are at the doctor. What medication have some of you used to manage the pain? Im taking Fiorocet right now and it does seem to work, if i take almost triple the amount it says to take. (one every 6-8 hours) and even then it only lasts for about an hour and then starts hurting again.
975514 tn?1324997938 one day it will be in my knee, the next day it will be in my hip. I have sciatica. I also have a lot of pain in my neck and upper back and I suffer from constant migraines. Plus I've been diagnosed with the dreaded Fibromyassa. I find that chronic use of opiates makes my pain worse, and really intensifies my pain so to speak. They make my muscles ache more and I have to keep taking more and more for them to be effective. I do not like this.
Avatar f tn Stef2001 and anyone out there! I just diagnosed with occipital neuralgia nerve pain on one side of the head & neck), the doctor put me on Clonazepam (muscle relaxant) and Celexa for anti- anxiety. I am worry that Clonazepam has side effect with liver disease but the drug is helping me tremendously. Since I am so sensitive to lots of medication, I couldn't take any other.
1960024 tn?1355014582 Imaging studies such as CT scan or MRI may help rule out anatomical issues. The headaches may indeed be associated with the neck pain. If the previous medication and management are not helping, further evaluation and referral to a neurologist may also help. Complementary and alternative medicine including acupuncture and biofeedback therapy may also provide relief. Take care and do keep us posted.

Avatar f tn I did have some relief with therapy, I do not take any medication. The symptoms that I feel are constant headache, neck shoulder arm pain numbness and weakness in my hands right worse than left. I also have numbness in my right bicep muscle. Would tingling in my feet be related to my neck? I have not be referred to any specialist and am not much of a complainer. I'm back at work, I do a lot of reading and computer work, and my symptoms are back . Just looking for some advice.
Avatar f tn Now two months later the cold/flu symptoms have subsided and I now just feel dizzy all the time and my neck has become abnormally heavy, making it hard to hold my head up. The neck pain is the worst of it, I am waking up in the night having panic attacks of some sort. I find that when the pain gets worse I go numb, mainly my head and arms. I am currently under a lot of strain from my university workload and my part-time job.
1435895 tn?1304291241 Hi!! If you are having migraines (aside from the chiari headaches) you might try the 'seizure' medication. I take a daily medication (Keppra - 750mg) once a day (at night) to prevent my migraines. And I have to be honest, since I started taking it - my migraines went from 5 - 6 a month to maybe 1 or 2!!! When I DO get them, I take treximet (very expensive - but amazing) - and it usually knocks out a migraine within about 30 minutes!!
1558393 tn?1299070031 I am on the methadone and Loratab for the headaches. Sometimes they are so bad I can't move. The decompression surgery did help some, still get bad headaches. I am very happy with the TC operation. I can now sit for 30 min without wanting to die! My legs feel better and I don't have the neck pain as bad as I did. I would do that all over again.
Avatar f tn ve had carpal tunnel in both hands since 1977, also have neck and back problems. I almost got adictive to pain killers many years ago so I'll never go that route again. Do some research...PLEASE read this site below> http://www.drugs.com/answers/tramadol-addiction-484395.html Good luck...
Avatar f tn Selma is there a list of doctor in the southwest pa area that are recommended at all? Is this the point where I say surgery is preferred over medication? Or pain meds over topamax?
Avatar f tn No body can judge your pain so again wait as long as you can, do alternative therapies but if your neck is unstable or the pain gets so bad listen to your surgeon and get it taken care of.
Avatar f tn I also have been diagnosed with djd which is in my back and now my neck, a bone spur in my neck and a neck that has the complete opposite curvature of normal people due to an airbag deployment in 2008 that makes my arms go numb and it's impossible to sleep most of the time. I am currently seeing an acupuncturist who had been able to help with my back pain but do far I've had no luck on my neck pain. I can sleep maybe 3-4 hours and the last hour is so painful I have to get up.
Avatar f tn T3 : 1.93 ng/ml (earlier it was 0.588 before medication) , Free T4: 1.81 ng/dl and TSH: 0.164 micro I.U/ml (earlier it was 62.9 micro I.U./ml) . Doctor suggested her to reduce dose of medication to thronorm 25 (from 50). I would like to know that , whether she can stop taking medicine as only after 34 days of medication her TSH level reduced from 62.9 to 0.16.
645800 tn?1466860955 well, I'm no help either. Im also labeled drug sensitive. Never thought of connecting it to MS though. Interesting. I've been that way got probably the last 15 yrs........will run it past my neuro in May. I know I can't take a lot of pain medication and they think I am just after the hard stuff because I turn down what they offer.... Thanks for bringing this thought up!
Avatar m tn But, I have a very stiff neck (neck pain) sinds a couple of weeks. I though it was related to the PEP, but it is still present. Is it possible that it is still caused by the PEP in my system and will go away? Does anyone have some experience with this? thanks!
1130095 tn?1267369259 I was diagnosed about 6 months ago but have been trying different treatments and meds for the last 5 years...
