neck

759386 tn?1324562124 t shared the same experience of needles in neck equaling extreme illness and lasting pain. Also... when talking to my headache doctor about botox injections for migraines he said he absolutely would not consider doing them except for a few points on my face because I have chiari... and the reason why was because he did not want to mess with needles and freezing in my neck because he thought it would make the chiari a whole lot worse....
Avatar n tn I first started pain management for leg pain which still continues. What is your opinion about fentanyl, and also surgery on neck when their are multi-level problems causing same symptoms?
Avatar f tn Are you referring to head pain, neck pain, or pain somewhere else? For me, pre-op, nothing worked. I had headaches that would wake me up every couple of hours. Now that I'm post-op, I prop myself up on the couch with my Chiari Zipperhead pillow and that seems to help my pain meds work. The pillow is great (I had it pre-op, too) because it has filling you can add or take out.
Avatar f tn It causes burning an sharp pain down my arm,and in the back of my neck. I have had two cortizone shots now and no relief at all, i was taking percocet which worked really well until I became allergic to it. I tried vicodin and it didn't help also morphine helped but it made me a zombie. So i"m just wondering is there anything else I could try. My pain doctor said i'll need surgery theres nothing else he can do.
Avatar f tn Today the pain is bringing me to tears and I was just hoping that I could get some ideas on other options of pain management? I need some help and the doctors around here have been pretty stumped on what I should do. Any suggestions would help!
Avatar m tn A van side swipped her mini-van and cause some severe neck damage. This damage cause constant pain in her neck, migrains, and some numbness. The treatment they prescribed was getting cold injections to the nerves in neck and head. She received three treatments over the past year with some short term relief of pain but always come back. Beside this treatment she been doing a routine of physiotherapy, deep tisse massage, water therapy with some relief but not enough.
Avatar f tn Do you see a pain specialist? Most MD’s don’t handle pain management. Especially with the opioid issues here in the US. If you are here in the US, you need to see a neurologist or neurosurgeon and possibly a pain management dr. Depending on what you have already experienced, that’s what I had to do after my failed back surgery. The surgeon is only allowed to write a script for I believe 3 mos after surgery and then after that you would have to see pain management.
728965 tn?1266373645 I was just wondering if anyone has ever tried going to a pain management specialist for fibro? If they even know how to help. Every time I go to my reg. doc I pass by an office and have been tempted to check it out. I don't even know how that works with my insurance... Anyhow, whats everyone's experiences with these guys if anyone has??
Avatar f tn but i just dont know why the pain in my neck and back have never got better or how to deal with the pain. pls. help.
Avatar f tn I would suggest discussing the situation, the suggested management plan and the expected prognosis in detail with your treating doctor. Referral to a pain management specialist may be considered if there is inadequate pain control with primary measures and/ or it is difficult to control the primary cause. Take care!
Avatar n tn Please seek out a Pain Management Specialist. They have many more options for pain control than your regular Physician. And yes, medical Marijuana might be an option but I also think it would make you very dopey. There is a pain patch by the name of Fentanyl. It has been a miracle drug for me in the past, this might be an option for you. If you would like information about it please see my profile page and send me a personal message. I will fill you in.
Avatar n tn It occurred 7 years ago, and am still recovering. The pain from my neck to my finger tips can be terrible on some days. Fortunately, the surgery itself was not invasive. Small cut at the neck line, that is barely noticeable now. Recovery wasn't bad either, except for the pain in the arm. The surgeon did tell me, and continues to tell me, "it was nothing he did!" Thus, I don't know what happened! ;-( Drill the doctor with as many questions as you can.
Avatar f tn s way worse!!! Every time I move my neck it hurts. When I turn it to the side, Its a pretty sharp pain about an 8 out of ten that shoots all the way from the top to bottom. Letting my head lay straight down doesn't really hurt. Turning it in any way or putting it back hurts. Sleeping hurts. And I never rallied how much Swoosh my head to move my bangs until recently, when it started to hurt. I am so tired of this.
237152 tn?1206651036 What do pain management clinics do? I know manage your pain, but do they have other methods besides narcotics? I have a lower disc issue that just continues and no OTC stuff helps, yoga exercises really don't do much, so I live it. But some days it gets pretty bad and really uncomfortable. Do they have methods besides handfuls of pills?
1475344 tn?1287160429 Hi! Welcome to the Pain Management forum. Although we're not doctors we are all chronic pain patients. We support each other through advice based on our own experiences. Apparently you're doctor didn't listen. Try another one. Perhaps a neurologist or spinal specialist. You probably need a MRI. In the meantime, if this happened within the past 48 hours, you might try ice on it. If it's not that recent, use heat. And be judicious with the Ibuprofen.
Avatar n tn Hello Flomobl, Welcome to the Pain Management Forum. I am sorry but the information you provide is so limited that I have no suggestions. Where is the "dull very painful pain?" Does it occur at any other time? Have you consulted your PCP and if so what did he/she suspect?
Avatar m tn I HAD NECK SURGRY TWO YEARS AGO AND IT WAS SUCESSFUL. BUT NOW I AM IN EXTREME PAIN IN THE NECK AND DOWN MY ARM AND LEG WITH NUMBNESS AND PINS AND NEEDLES .
1960024 tn?1355014582 I have had pretty severe Pain in the back of my neck that radiates into the back of my head for about 5 months now. I've seen my Dr. and at first he said a pulled muscle then when it did not go away he tried PT, still no relief so he tried these shots that numbed the area for a couple hours, but that was it. There's also lumps now, at my hairline and in the mid neck close to the spine, I decided to see another Dr.
Avatar f tn I did have some relief with therapy, I do not take any medication. The symptoms that I feel are constant headache, neck shoulder arm pain numbness and weakness in my hands right worse than left. I also have numbness in my right bicep muscle. Would tingling in my feet be related to my neck? I have not be referred to any specialist and am not much of a complainer. I'm back at work, I do a lot of reading and computer work, and my symptoms are back . Just looking for some advice.

Avatar f tn m a recovering opiate addict (2 years clean) and I have off-the-charts-pain! I had several disks fused in my neck in 2006 and shoulder surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff in 2010. My pain is in the upper part of my neck radiating both down into my shoulder and into the area where my skull meets my neck creating a wicked head ache! Chiropractors won't touch me because of the plate in my neck. I've tried TENS units to no avail and massage therapy as well.
Avatar f tn for while now i have bad neck pain it seems to be coming from middle of my neck when the pain arrives it makes me very dizzy and can knock me of balance..its not very nice when this pain is hitting me...
Avatar n tn I have a physically demanding job. I have neck, shoulder, arm, and upper back pain. I have been on pain meds for years. How bad do I have to get before I can get put on disablity. I've been told I have artritis and bone spurs.
Avatar m tn The symptoms could result from further degeneration, inflammation, neuro-muscular causes etc. While adequate pain management is essential; management of the primary condition would also be required in the situation. I would suggest considering a review with your treating doctor for a detailed evaluation and suggestion of an appropriate management plan and if need be consult with a pain management specialist may be sought. Hope this is helpful. Take care!
Avatar f tn You definitely need to find a new pain management doctor. See if your primary care doctor can give you a referral or call some nearby hospitals as many have pain management departments. Ideally you would want some sort of x-ray, MRI, CT scan to definitively know what you're being injected for.
