As the title suggests, my throat or possibly jugular is having this pain after I looked to my right. I guess I went a bit too far with it, because now the left side of my neck/throat is hurting and it feels like it may be the jugular. I'm kind of worried, and was wondering if this is something I should get looked at soon or if I shouldn't worry.

Neck veins can provide valuable diagnostic information about your cardiopulmonary status. The right internal jugular vein in particular is very important. Jugular venous pressure reflects right ventricular filling pressure of the heart, and it remains the most reliable means of estimating central venous pressure or cardiac function. Are there other symptoms present? Distended neck veins could be due to cardiopulmonary causes such as heart failure, pericardial effusion, or pericarditis.
I also had, what I percieved to be a very sharp pain, in the area of the Jugular that could be reproduced with any significant Val Salva type maneuver (eg. I was inflating a cushion, and the act of simply pushing down on the valve to hold it in place would reproduce this sharp pain the the area,....which would cease as soon as I let up). Anyway,...at this point I am symptom free. I walk 6 miles a day, and jog a couple of miles each night. (no more weight lifting).
I have a very light feeling of stiffness in one side my neck. An external vein is slightly visible On the same side of stiffness. Not necessarily large, but only slightly.There are no other definitive symptoms. I do cardio exercise, eat greens, drink water. Is this something I should go to the ER for? I can provide a picture for more clarification.

Pilot Jeff Skiles from flt 1549 that landed in the Hudson has an odd appearance at the base of his throat when he talks. It's like an area on either side of his neck inflates and deflates as he speaks. Any idea what it is? I've never seen anything like it.
He found a lump on my neck..Cervical spine..near my jaw line.. the opposite side of my cancer.. (all my cancer was on the left side) He is setting up MRI and then PET.. he mentioned biopsy. What are the chances that this is from my original breast cancer.. or could this possibly be a NEW cancer? Could this just be a fatty cyst? It doesnt move.. its hard.. and I have no pain at all. I never realized it was there until the Dr showed me..What type of biopsy would they use?
Hi everyone. I am 8 days post total thyroidectomy in which the left side was very large and the right side minimally enlarged. I am doing pretty well, have been back to work for 3 days now. I still have soreness/pain at surgery site and swelling is still evident. I had my small "bandage" covering removed 2 days ago. I noticed today in the mirror that I could see my jugular/carotid pulses quite easily, more so on the left side (where the surgery was more extensive).
I had a TT 3 weeks ago thou not really in any pain my neck is still tight, i have this pulsing in my neck that is driving me mad the Consultant said its where my goiter was so big (245g) and its all still swollen in there i have to hold my neck to stop the swishing of the pulse, any suggestion or has anyone else had this problem?

I've had this in the past but this time it's worse.
Basically I haven't done anya erobic exercise for a while and went for a run the other day ...after a short time the left side of my neck (where you take your pulse) became quite painful and days later this is still happening if I get at all out of breath. It only happens when I am breathing in.

Hi there. I have a lump, possibly a swollen gland on the left side of my neck, close to the jaw. According to the charts it looks like the jugulodigastric node and is right on top of the jugular. My best guess to size is just over a half inch. It isn't tender, just swollen. I just quit smoking and I'm 24 years old. I'm not sure how long it has been there, though I suspect its been a while (been monitoring it for a week now). I don't have any other symptoms that I'm aware of.
It is 1.7 cm ir length. Slow flow varicosity extending toward the jugular vein. Other small reactive appearing lymph nodes present in the anterior chain.
Impression: New lymphadenopathy presumably reactive. Recommend clinical follow-up.
When I lie down on my right side at night i can feel a large lump in my jugular vein on the right side of my neck. I looked at it with a mirror whilst lying down and it is very noticeable that there is a lump sticking out of the vein. However, the lump disappears when I stand up or am sitting down and there is no lump on the other side. Does anyone having ideas what this lump could be?
My neck problem began nearly one year ago with severe weakness and pain. The left shoulder and arm suffered the same symptoms. I had mild nausea from about November to February. Then, at the beginning of this year, I had also tremor and some other symptoms. The symptoms then appeared every now and then. I also have chronic sinusitis.
From August till now (late October) the neck weakness has become worse. It is in every day, usually in afternoon or evening, often like an attack.
Since your son gets headaches after running, it is important to rule out clots in his carotids or jugular vein. An angiogram of the neck blood vessels and a duplex ultrasound is done to rule this out.
Other than this it can be a normal anatomical variation. However, a child should not get headaches on running—this does indicate a compromised blood flow to brain.
Please consult your child's pediatrician for primary examination followed by proper referral.

There are additional shoddy lymph nodes throughout the neck (left greater than right) which do not meet strict size criteria. There are innumerous subcentimeter nodules within the premalar subcutaneous fax (right greater than left). Findings best seen upon axial images 26-32.There is a prominent jugular vein in the region of the patient's palpable abornmality.
Impression: (1) Mid nonspecific left-sided adenopathy.
