Oddly, my pain is worse about 15 min after I get back from being out. Nothing seems to help - wrapping my face before or hot compress afterwords. The pain is an 8-9.
I'm so rugged up with layers of wooly clothing, hat and scalf and thats inside the house but i still always feel cold, hands, legs and feet are icey cold. My ribs and neck are hurting so much at the moment that i would love a couple of hot packs, cause nothing is helping but at least the heat give some temperary relief.
Should I be using hot or cold therapy? Should I see an ear/nose/throat doctor? Could the Chiro have damaged something in my neck? How would I know? When do I know that PT and adjustments won't work for my condition? Are there questions I should be asking my PT, physican, Chiro? I feel like I am on a merry go round.
I have a bed buddy for my neck and the heat seems to help, but there are times where the pain just feels like I need the ice pack...I have the pain in the back of my neck from a bulging disc in C6-C7, plus a lot of the headaches are always at the base of my neck. So I am just wondering what others find to work better. Thanks!
There are times during the day when the back of my lower neck feels like it is burning or hot. It is not hot to the touch and isn't red. There is no pain and I don't have any other simptoms. It doesn't matter what the room temperature is. It could be cold or warm. It doesn't hurt to touch it or move it.

It's an annoying symptom, I admit, but manageable with cold cloths to the neck or head and/or fresh air. They've disappeared for now so hang in there they do go away. Good luck to you.
I have a lot of upper back pain, too, between the shoulder blades (lower neck pain?). Not necessarily blaming it on my thyroid, but it didn't start until I got off the levothyroxine, and it doesn't go away if I'm vertical. Any responses would be appreciated. Is this common? Can I go back and forth? The nodules? My doctors are so inaccessible.
You are allowed to take a warm bath, but not how. The problem with hot baths is your body might have a hard time regulating its temperature after the bath. You don't want your body temp to rise. I'm sorry you slept wrong, I seem to be doing that a lot lately as well. Good luck and feel better!

Can someone answer, I started having pain in my neck almost two years ago, it has never gotten better, now my neck pops when I try and exercise my neck to relieve the pain. It started on the right side only but I've noticed lately that both side hurt. I've had test, PT, hot pads, cold pads and pain meds form the doctor but nothing is helping.

This treatment may include medications (non-steroidals such as advil), sometimes steroids if there is swelling (edema), temperature therapy (hot or cold packs), stretching and controlled physical therapy, muscle relaxants, and so on, these are best prescribed by an experienced physician, each has its own indications.
Eventually it got a bit better, but it still hurts to look in those directions completely. As I was poking my neck, finding where the most pain was coming from I came across a small lump, This wasn't their when I pulled a muscle or pinched a nerve, because I check my neck frequently since I have a lump on the other side too. That one has no pain. Lately I feel like I have been getting really sick.
Temporal tendinitis mimics migraines including TMJ pain temporal headaches, tooth sensitivity, neck and shoulder pain. Avoid carrying heavy stuff, do the proper bending, sitting or the proper posture, if pain strike apply hot compress on the area affected it'll help to reduce the pain, do some stretch exercise (make your abd/back muscle tight/strong) that will help reduce the pain as well, walking (not jogging) is good but the highly recommended by the doctors is SWIMMING.
They start i suppose with a bad posturing (i'm only assuming) , at first the pain is low , over the course of a day it starts to increase , in the evenings the pain gets really bad that i can't really concentrate on something else. The pain starts on the left side of my neck and by evening migrates to the right and , as the title says the pain is pulsating obviously with the pulse .
But I have no neck pain in the beginning (November,2011), but I am experiencing continuous headache and mild neck pain. The doctor prescribed medicines like Alprox 0.25 mg, Cap Engaba, Tab Ostflex OD for 10 days. During the period of usage of these medicines, I got some relief but the headache still remains. Then as per advise of Doctor, I underwent physiotherapy for 1 week and doing exercises for the neck. I underwent MRI scan for spain with the following result.
Suddenly it hit me, a shooting pain on the left side of my trapezius, I suppose near the levator scapulae muscle. It's VERY sensitive. I can't put a hot pack or even put my finger on it. I don't know what you would categorize it as, possibly neurological? I am a college student and exam time is rolling around the corner. There really isn't anytime for me to run over to a doctor or a hospital at this moment. What could it possibly be?
I still don't have a diagnosis..could be RSD or discs in my neck....the pain in my hands is increasing despite meds...time to change them I guess. I just want to live one day almost painfree and not in a fog. Doing everyday things that I used to take for granted is difficult. Even typing this is causing pain in my hands. I'm currently taking Neurontin(? sp) on an increasing dose, and cymbalta for chronic pain. Also on ultracet....If anykone can give me hope...
What are her symptoms other than pain in her neck.. is it constant pain or shooting sharp pains intermittenly? Again, I would asked the Dr. that ordered that FNA to go over those results with you.. it sounds like it was an inconclusive test..
pain in neck. For awhile i thought the pain i get in the left side (mainly) of my neck was serious too. but Dr's checked my arteries and they are fine. my Doctor says it's muscle spasms and he's probably right. i do have problems with spasms due to neck and lower back problems. so it's mostly muscles but try relaxing, heat and maybe even an aspirin. good luck.
It sometimes feel like someone is holding a cold can of soda to the back/right side of my neck, or a localized sensation on my chest or shoulder, or like cold water is dripping down the back of my right leg. I automatically go to wipe it off, but nothing is there and my skin feels normal to the touch. It is happening more often and for longer period of time. I am not in any pain with it. I do not feel like I am anxious - other then feeling crazy for having these symptoms lol!
Its red and swollen and her neck has become stiff. She is increasely fatigued and has severe joint pain. I noticed her arm today and there was a small swollen area that she said felt hot on the inside. She was diagnosed with sinusitis and she started having acid reflux about a week and a half ago. She said it is getting more difficult to breath now and her neck is getting even worse. I have my theories but would like more advise. She needs a good doc but we can't afford one right now.
But this pain is consistent for 2 weeks and with pain killers, heating pads, hot baths, cold packs etc. it has not eased up. To touch it lightly the pain is so severe. What could this be?
