A g.p prescribed antibiotics for it, then muscle relaxants and then calcium and vitamin supplements but to no avail. note: ialso have tmj.My tmj only causes me to not be able to open my mouth completely. A jaw specialist recommended that i undergo orthodontic treatment for it. Now i've had braces for almost a year.

Avatar f tn hi a few years ago when I was working as a bouncer i was bottled from behind and then the guy who attacked me got me in a front headlock(back of my head was on his chest) and he wrenched my neck since then I've had issues with the back of my neck when it goes I get a pressure at the front of my neck just below my Adams Apple like someone is pressing on it which causes a sickly feeling/lump feeling so I be concerned about this or not
Avatar f tn s way worse!!! Every time I move my neck it hurts. When I turn it to the side, Its a pretty sharp pain about an 8 out of ten that shoots all the way from the top to bottom. Letting my head lay straight down doesn't really hurt. Turning it in any way or putting it back hurts. Sleeping hurts. And I never rallied how much Swoosh my head to move my bangs until recently, when it started to hurt. I am so tired of this.
Avatar f tn I remember not wanting to turn my head because I was scared of the pain. I remember thinking my pillow was causing the pain in my neck at night and trying no pillow then two pillows then a triangle pillow to support my shoulders also (this helped a little but still didn't bring complete relief of symptoms) I'm now 27 and suffered from cronic pain in my neck all my life which has just got worse.
Avatar m tn I HAD NECK SURGRY TWO YEARS AGO AND IT WAS SUCESSFUL. BUT NOW I AM IN EXTREME PAIN IN THE NECK AND DOWN MY ARM AND LEG WITH NUMBNESS AND PINS AND NEEDLES .
Avatar m tn I have experienced neck pain as part of my MS; it happened along with a whole host of other symptoms that came on over a period of several days, that led to my diagnosis in 2007. It started the same time as the MS hug/banding sensation around my ribcage. IVSM relieved both of these particular symptoms. The hug is back now but I never had that neck pain again. I recall it felt like tension, like a rubber band tugging when I would turn my head from side to side.
Avatar m tn I seem to only feel neck pain in the right side and only when laying down on my right side and only when swallowing. Have seen a ENT and was told throat looked fine. I am thinking it could be an artery.
Avatar m tn With regards to musculoskeletal chest pains, the pain is typically more superficial/anterior. The pain may be reproduced with pushing on the areas of the pain. There are many causes of this type of pain including muscle pains between the ribs, thoracic/cervical neck dysfunction, inflammation of the tissue at the site of pain, etc. Again, I would suggest you follow up with your primary care physician.
Avatar m tn I've had a neck pain which has been happening for a while now. Can't say exactly how long because it's not frequent and very quick [but roughly about 6 months maybe?]. It's a sharp pain on the right side of my neck about 1-2 inches under my jaw bone. The pain is like somebody's pulling/pinching my neck from the inside and it causes my head to sort of spasm to the right but once it's gone my neck is fine and it'll be fine until it does it again which isnt often.
Avatar f tn I say that because i have had a few dental issues such as wisdom teeth coming through, dead tooth and even TMG where my jaw aches and causes pain side of the head, neck and throat.
Avatar n tn About 6 months ago I started developing pain in the side of my neck. At first I thought it was a toothache because my lower back jaw and my ear hurt as well. I can barely touch the side of my neck and if feels like I have a sore throat when I swallow. This goes on for about a week and them the symptoms disappear. Then I will get the same pain back right around a month later. This has been going on for about 6 month now? What is causing this pain in my neck?
Avatar f tn precipitation of head pain by neck movement or awkward neck positions, head pain when external pressure is applied to the neck or occipital region, restricted range of motion of the neck, and neck, shoulder and arm pain. Treatment for cervicogenic headache includes physical therapy, medications, behavioral therapy, and other modalities.
Avatar n tn Your symptoms of pain, headache and nausea etc are suggestive of spondylosis. This causes compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region. You have to discuss the best treatment option with a neurologist, which can range from medication to physiotherapy to traction, cervical collars or even surgery. Alternatively you can visit a chiropractor or a physical therapist and learn some exercises which you can do to relieve the compression, but consulting a neurologist is a must.
Avatar f tn Hi, I Have had a very long history of migraine and terrible headaches all of my life then the pain at the back of my neck started and I went through an odyssey of doctors and heard everything from “you don’t have anything wrong with you-to go home in the waiting room are real patients”. In the end I at last by pure chance found a neurosurgeon that took me seriously and treated me as a real person.

Occipital neuralgia is caused by irritation or injury to two nerves that run from the upper neck to the back of the head.
Avatar f tn What did you do to your neck? Many times surgery of the neck and back can cause more problems then they cure. Also be aware of Chiropractors. Some, not all, want nothing more then you to have treatment that will do nothing more then take your money and do more damage then when you went in. I would see a good neurosurgen to discuss various helpful options.
Avatar m tn t turn my head at all without feeling acute pain. During that time, I also realised (painless) swelling on the side of my neck that was twisted, and the shoulder on the same side also sagged below the opposite shoulder. Although I've since recovered, sometimes when I do exercises that involve shoulder and neck movement, the injury comes back. There's pain in the exact same spot and my shoulder starts to sag.
Avatar m tn Now a year later I feel this heavy pressure in the back of my neck....No pain into my arm or in my neck - Just pressure and a slight on and off pain in my shoulder. (I also tore my rotator cuff a few years back). I generally feel pretty good in the morning and the pressure gets worse as the days goes on. I feel better when laying down as opposed to standing up. In addition at times I feel pressure in my ears. I did go to an ENT for this twice and both times he said my ears were fine.
Avatar f tn I had a ACDF (C5-C7) two years ago. I have been in constant pain since the surgery. I have pain in both of my arms and weakness in both hands. My neck and shoulders hurt and I have terrible headaches everyday. I have been seeing a pain management doctor for a year and a half. I've had several epidural injections, nerve blocks, PT and I am on Duragesic patches 100mcg and Oxycontin, and I'm still in unbearable pain.
Avatar n tn Between the 4th and 5th cervical vertebra there are degenerative changes causing narrowing of space through which the spinal nerves pass. This too causes pressure on the nerves. The two findings could be the cause of headaches and neck pain. The inflammation could be causing fever. It is difficult to comment beyond this at this stage. Do consult a neurologist as soon as possible. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!
666921 tn?1254990618 t have any neck pain untill after tick-bite [I have not been dx lyme] - I had slight shoulder pain on left side but just niggily!! - since tick bite and episode of very stiff neck - I have severe neck pain /shoulder pain on right side. I can't decide if the pain is due to degeneration or lyme - I suppose I should wait to see what LLMD thinks about this symptom. I know must of us here have done a lot of research and self diagnosis so I just thought I'd ask for your opinions.
Avatar f tn Since having my son 5 yrs ago, I have had increasing neck and back pain. I have seen chiropractors and physios to no avail. The pain in my neck is most prevalent right at the base of my skull. There is honestly not a minute in the day when I am not in pain. It has been getting much worse over the last 6 months. I cannot sleep because of the pain. Panadeine forte and neurofen plus help for maybe half an hour.
670877 tn?1225808525 It radiates around the right side of my head and at times causes excruciating pain and a numb like sensation in my right ear. My chiro adjusts my neck and mentions that there is heat and inflamation around the c-spine area, especially at the top where the atlas muscle is. His helper, does trigger point therapy on my neck and shoulders. This seems to help way more than the adjustments. My regular physician is very uncomfortable with the chiro adjusting my neck.
Avatar m tn Sometimes the pain is so bad I get sick. The pain can spread around the back of my head and out my neck. Most of the time i only get relief when my wife massages the back of my neck. This relief may only be temporary. I had put it down to sinus for a long time as I can also feel very congested in the nose. However at this stage I feel there is more to it. Could it be caused my neck problems?
Avatar n tn My Neuro has told me never to let anyone manipulate my neck because of my large cervical herniations. So, again - IF your Dr gives you the ok - go see a chiropractor (always check with them first)... they can really can help in some instances...
Avatar m tn Since last week I have had the headache and neck pain is much worse radiating from the back of my head (where the two bones at the back of the head are) to my shoulders. The headache seems to be worse in the morning when I wake up and is not a constant headache. It comes and goes during the day but is at worse in the mornings and at night. I also feel nauseous a lot of times not sure if it could be related to the headache or not. The neck pain is also more like a burning type of pain.
