neck

Avatar f tn If you use computer a lot or read a lot then the symptoms of headache, dizziness, neck pain, numbness etc could be due to compression of the spinal nerves in the cervical spine region. This can happen due to overuse of computers, work involving straining of neck, herniated disc, canal stenosis, bone disease, spondylosis, poor posture etc. A MRI of the cervical spine and nerve conduction studies may be required. Please consult a neurologist.
Avatar f tn There are a number of causes besides an aneurysm that could cause this type of pain, a pinched nerve, a disc problem in your neck, even some migraines only present with a short stab of pain......these are just a few of other possible causes of your pain. But to rule all of these concerns out, it's good you will be having an MRI. If you were to suddenly develop the worst headache you've EVER had, you need to seek medical attention immediately.

Avatar f tn s way worse!!! Every time I move my neck it hurts. When I turn it to the side, Its a pretty sharp pain about an 8 out of ten that shoots all the way from the top to bottom. Letting my head lay straight down doesn't really hurt. Turning it in any way or putting it back hurts. Sleeping hurts. And I never rallied how much Swoosh my head to move my bangs until recently, when it started to hurt. I am so tired of this.
Avatar f tn Tension headaches usually present with dull-type of headache. While pain at the back of head or neck that intensifies on movement may be caused by inflammation of the blood vessels of the head or bony changes in the structures of the neck. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants may help provide relief. If your present medications do not help, inform your doctor for proper management.Change of dosage or medicine may be indicated. Take care and regards.

Avatar m tn I'm recently dx, April 2011. I've suffered on and off in the passed with neck pain, it hurts just to hold my head up. Does anyone else suffer from this? Is this even a symptom of ms? I feel like things I ignored in the past may have been symptoms that I didn't realize.

Avatar f tn ve had issues with the back of my neck when it goes I get a pressure at the front of my neck just below my Adams Apple like someone is pressing on it which causes a sickly feeling/lump feeling so I be concerned about this or not
Avatar m tn Sometimes the pain is so bad I get sick. The pain can spread around the back of my head and out my neck. Most of the time i only get relief when my wife massages the back of my neck. This relief may only be temporary. I had put it down to sinus for a long time as I can also feel very congested in the nose. However at this stage I feel there is more to it. Could it be caused my neck problems?
Avatar f tn I remember not wanting to turn my head because I was scared of the pain. I remember thinking my pillow was causing the pain in my neck at night and trying no pillow then two pillows then a triangle pillow to support my shoulders also (this helped a little but still didn't bring complete relief of symptoms) I'm now 27 and suffered from cronic pain in my neck all my life which has just got worse.
Avatar f tn I say that because i have had a few dental issues such as wisdom teeth coming through, dead tooth and even TMG where my jaw aches and causes pain side of the head, neck and throat.

Avatar n tn Hi, The most common cause of throbbing neck pain on one side is Carotidynia . Carotidynia is a common neck pain syndrome characterised by dull, throbbing, localized pain over the carotid artery bifurcation, but may radiate to the mandible (jaw), cheek, eye, or ear on one side .The causes are Carotid artery aneurysm ,Cranial arteritis , Infection , Carotid artery occlusion . Please go for an MRI or arteriography to rule out the condition .
Avatar n tn Iam a 32 year old female with sharp, piercing pain on the right side of my head. The pain spreads down into my neck. My right eye has become red, watery, and puffy, my eyelid seems to droop. I have a cluster of three lymph nodes that are swollen in my neck just below my right ear. This has lasted about three weeks….In need of relief any idea what this may be???
Avatar m tn Since last week I have had the headache and neck pain is much worse radiating from the back of my head (where the two bones at the back of the head are) to my shoulders. The headache seems to be worse in the morning when I wake up and is not a constant headache. It comes and goes during the day but is at worse in the mornings and at night. I also feel nauseous a lot of times not sure if it could be related to the headache or not. The neck pain is also more like a burning type of pain.
Avatar n tn Your right. A neck problem can cause headaches. Have you had your neck checked out? I would definitely do such. If you leave it unchecked and untreated, the problem could worsen. Hope you feel better soon and see your PCP!!
Avatar m tn I've had a neck pain which has been happening for a while now. Can't say exactly how long because it's not frequent and very quick [but roughly about 6 months maybe?]. It's a sharp pain on the right side of my neck about 1-2 inches under my jaw bone. The pain is like somebody's pulling/pinching my neck from the inside and it causes my head to sort of spasm to the right but once it's gone my neck is fine and it'll be fine until it does it again which isnt often.
Avatar n tn I think the first thing you should do is get this checked out by your doctor and see what he thinks... he might be able to give you an answer just by your description of what is going on. He might also need to order an MRI, but this might not be needed, you'll find out at the appointment. The sharp quick headaches that go away in seconds sound like "ice-pick" headaches... which are usually totally harmless headaches that you can't really do anything about...
Avatar m tn It would start hurting out of nowhere, sharp pain near top right of my head, tender to the touch and my neck started hurting. Started having daily migraines again so went to my chiropractor. She worked on my cervical spine and neck. The pain in head and neck went away. So did the daily migraines.
Avatar f tn It really depends on how far you want to move your head to the left -- going too far causes pain because its a warning against damaging your neck. Nerves that provide sensation to the arm come out of the neck. If a normal range of motion is causing pain, I imagine that you have something not quite right on the left side of your spine. You'd be wise to consult with a doctor to see what's going on in there, as it probably won't get better by itself.
666921 tn?1254990618 all I had was phone call abour MRI results. Yes I do get problems other than neck pain but do not know what pressure on nerves can cause other than pain!! Am I right in thinking that LYME can cause the arthritis? What causes the extremely stiff neck that some Lyme patients experience at on set. I presume it is muscle tension-I guess unrelenting tension in neck/shoulder area can start to impact on the skeleton by pulling etc; I haven't ruled out Lyme.
Avatar m tn It presents with one sided pain in the temple area ( not neck pain), jaw pain and pain when chewing. It is associated with elevated ESR in the blood ( an inflammatory marker) and needs to be treated with steroids ASAP as it can cause vision loss. Again it is highly unlikely that you mother has this. Occipital neuralgia seems more likely. I hope this helps. Good luck.
Avatar n tn For the past 2 - 3 weeks I get pain in the left part of my head. Suddenly it will pain then nothing. This is just above my left ear. When I touch the skull I feel nothing. I feel pain inside. Befor this I had neck pain also for a long time. I feel sometimes irritated and cant do any work.
Avatar n tn I had neck pain and shorter blade pain as well. I found going to a chiropractor helped quite a bit, through chiropractic adjustment, and adjustments to posture. I also found out later on that since my car accident I had a cervical disk pressing on my spine. Since the surgery the neck pain and shoulder blade pain has been considerably better.
