768044 tn?1294223436 Hi! The other day I had an appointment with my neurologist and I asked him about botox injections for my migraines. I get 15+ migraines a month (usually around 17). My migraines interfere with every aspect of my life... so I am really looking for a treatment that works. I have heard good things about botox from friends... and so I would like to give it a try. I am currently taking topamax. Before topamax I tried valproic acid and before that I tried amitriptyline.
681148 tn?1437661591 I just had my appointment with the neurologist. He is suggesting Botox to help with migraine prevention. He is looking into getting authorization for it first, like with the insurance and whatnot. Everything I've heard of using Botox is that this should at least reduce the severity of the migraines and reduce how often I get them. I would like some input from others who regularly get Botox shots. Also, has anyone here had a sleep study done?
Avatar m tn Hi I just had a revision procedure that included neck lift to correct my platysma muscles. I originally had liposuction and a thread lift done to rejuvenate my lower part of my face. I didn't want anything invasive so opted for the thread lift with lipo under the chin and lightly underneath my jawline. After the healing was done it was obvious that the procedure did not obtain good results and exposed my platysma bands and had much indentations where the thread lift was placed under my jaw.
Avatar m tn The pain returns to all the previously described locations (face, neck, back) whenever I speak, lift items with my right arm, swim, or work out at all. I have stumped many ENT specialists in a couple different states; they all look down my throat and say everything looks fine. I found an excellent speech pathologist who gave me some "vocal warm ups" that allow me to speak with decreased pain (this took several months to be able to do).
Avatar f tn Also have had few episodes in last 18/12 consistent with vestibular neuronitis which lasted only few days. I have had botox to neck muscles to help the dystonia. Basic bloods and mri brain and neck normal this week, awaiting the weird and wonderful blood results back. Problem in last 2 weeks is that i have developed problems with balance which has been worse in last few days.
Avatar f tn How great to hear from you! Yes, we seem to be the only 2 people on the planet using this patch. My prescribing doctor at a major medical center at a University said that he thought he was the only doctor prescribing it. And yes, I think that I am also getting better with time. I'm interested in where on your body do you get the Botox injections? You said that you don't get the facial ones and then mentioned the neck area.
Avatar f tn s caused the migraines or if the Botox has caused the disc issues by paralyzingly some of my neck and shoulder muscles and Botox has put too much weight and strain on my bones and/or joints in the neck. I basically have these episodes every few months of severe pain in the joints in the neck, pain in the muscles in the neck and shoulders, extreme muscle tightness in neck and shoulders, some shooting pain in arms and some numbness. I am given a burst dose of steroids and pain meds.
Avatar f tn get your minds out of the gutter, but not quite ready for the nip tuck, but maybe start with something simple like the botox or dermabrasion....anyone ever tried that?....my sister did it and her skin looks pretty good. I don't wear make-up....at least foundation. That's what I consider make-up..lol. it looks like I may have to start if my skin doesn't start to look better. I think it might be the medication I am on...
Avatar m tn m 27 years old and I was just diagnosed with Chiari malformation type 1 with bad CSF blockage, I did a neck mri yesterday to rule out a syrinx, results not in yet. My symptoms started 2 years ago where I had on and off extreme lightheaded/dizziness/pressure while exercising, eventually this became permanent 24/7 from the moment I wake up all day everyday.
Avatar n tn I would tickle the skin and lightly massage and use all of my will to get it back and it did fully return thankfully. The second time was last year with a lower face lift with platysmal plication (the neck bands) and my left lower lip wouldn't move and made talking smiling eating etc wierd! So I fully understand your nervousness and anxiety over this complication.
997898 tn?1303734864 lol..i was more worried about my face and to be honest, hadn't even considered anything going wrong with my neck! didn't figure there would be enough to do any real damage! lol thanks for the visual! lol i have occipital neuropathy, so it would be neck, shoulders and face....i don't even know what a physiatrist is, carolyn. do we have those over here?
Avatar f tn i had been doing Botox treatments for migraines for about 6months prior to surgery (surgery was Sept. 3rd) and my migraines had lessened with Botox. My question is...(and I will also bring this up to my NS at my next post-op f/u on Oct. 14th) Did anybody continue the Botix treatments after the surgery & if so, how long after the surgery did you resume the treatments. I'm next scheduled for it mid-November...but as of right now, parts of my scalp are still horribly painful.
Avatar m tn I had several areas in my neck treated by injecting Botox in areas that were causing excruciating pain because of a neck injury that was made worse whenever my muscles would begin tightening. The concept seemed to make sense and in fact worked quite well for my neck for about 6 months. Unfortunately, the side effects took hold of me the next morning with life threatening symptoms.
1052851 tn?1307741160 Because I had a monstrous menstrual migraine when the botox should have been working with the first shots, the doctor refused to try again.
Avatar f tn With administration at a doctor’s office, Botox is injected into 31 sites around the head in a five-to-10-minute procedure. Botox blocks chemical changes on nerve endings thereby reducing migraine pain. Botox is injected into muscles of the forehead, the side and back of the head, and the neck and shoulders to produce a partial and temporary chemical “denervation” of the muscle to treat chronic migraine. This causes the muscles to be too weak to contract.
Avatar f tn Tell your doctor about all the medicines you take, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal products. Using BOTOX® or BOTOX® Cosmetic with certain other medicines may cause serious side effects. Do not start any new medicines until you have told your doctor that you have received BOTOX® or BOTOX® Cosmetic in the past. " Only your liver doctor knows that exact status of your liver disease and what may or may not be appropriate for you to do. Be well.
Avatar f tn I had some on Saturday morning. In forehead (frown area) and in occipital area. It's 4 days later now and my neck is really quite painful. I have hyper mobility syndrome and am thinking was it a mistake to have it in my neck? It would be great if anyone else can share their experience.
Avatar f tn Please let me know your experience with botox! And also, if you feel up to updating us with what has happened since then, I would love to hear about it! Good luck. I feel your pain!!!
1015777 tn?1251149540 I have suffered from Spasmodic Torticollis (now more commonly known as Dystonia) for some 30 add years with a myriad of pharmaceutical treatments----at least 30 individual/unique medications non-duplicating----and with Botox injections designed to slow the movements down. The condition is rare but many Parkinson's Patients have been rediagnosed with Spasmodic Torticollis as the movements are similiar.
1194772 tn?1309578232 I have tried everything to take the pain away from steroid injections, botox, PT, massage, acupuncture and muscle relaxants. Lately with all my worries about MS the stress is making the spasms worse. I don't know if this is any way related to my possible MS diagnosis. All I know is by mid morning at work it is getting harder to write, it is unfortunately mostly on right side and right handed, and getting hard to lift my arm by end of day.
Avatar f tn reminders to swallow, transderm patches, ect....... I am now looking into surgery to cauterize the glands and I was also informed there are botox shots that nay help, It does not bother me, but its starting to effect him, and his teachers are pushing me to have something done, becuuae i think it just annoys them, that they have to change his Bandanna he wears around his neck to catch the drool. He has to have them changed atleast 10 xs a day!!! I dont know what to do? Any suggestions???.
Avatar f tn The problem with botox for some isn't an allergic reaction only, it's also that it's a highly toxic substance which some won't respond well to. Have you gone to a specialist to see what's up? And I'm not necessarily referring to the place you got the injection -- it depends on who did it. Some Botox clinics are not reliable, so you're better off going to a specialist if that's where you got the shot.
Avatar f tn I did have botox and nothing really happened. When my dr. gave it to me in the back of my neck he actually gave me too much which caused my neck to weaken. It has wore out, thank goodness. I have been doing some much research of doctors and things that it could possibly be. I even read that my jaw could be out of alignment. But once again I thank you, any feedback is great.
Avatar n tn I just read your 11/13 comment and I have only one thing to say about Botox in the neck...NEVER AGAIN! I had 4 injections and not only did I have the worst head and neck ache but landed in the hospital from severe dehydration from "going from both ends". I hope I never get that sick again. I'm sure there are a lot of people out there that it helped but I wasn't one of them. I sure hope you are feeling better by now.
Avatar f tn I have cervical dystonia, my right fingers, the last 2 are stuck, and so is my neck, right side..my gp wants me to have botox, but i already have swallowing difficulties, and the injection can add to it..I am seeing a physiotherapist right now, is there any information I can give her to help me get my neck muscles moving again??? I really do not want the botox.. I am on xanax, baclofen, codine contin, for pain, and zoplicon for sleeping.
Avatar m tn t feel so good having had cervical dystonia with pains in my neck and shoulders and now the pains in my knees and ankles. As a result, my back especially around my hip region hurts too. I don't have these problems before my treatment session. I really don't know what's happening to me and I have to consume at least 8 paracetamol tablets per day to get some relief. I really don't know where do I go from here and which Doctors to refer to ...Please advise as much as you can.
