Common Questions and Answers about Neck lift revision

Avatar m tn Hi I just had a revision procedure that included neck lift to correct my platysma muscles. I originally had liposuction and a thread lift done to rejuvenate my lower part of my face. I didn't want anything invasive so opted for the thread lift with lipo under the chin and lightly underneath my jawline. After the healing was done it was obvious that the procedure did not obtain good results and exposed my platysma bands and had much indentations where the thread lift was placed under my jaw.
Avatar n tn One month ago I had a neck and half face lift. I am now have a large under the skin scar tissue development next to my mouth, it is preventing me from opening my mouth, I can not even eat a banana, floss my teeth, etc. My doctor said to massage the area, and come in the office for ultra sound treatments to help dissolve the scar tissue, several days later there is more scar tissue devloping in other areas. what is your take on this and what is your recomendation?
Avatar n tn Prior to surgery there were no signs of neck pain but i had a horrible pain in the shoulder and upper arm. When the doctor did a mri he discovered there was major compression on the spinal cord so he went in immediatly and fused C4-C6. After coming out of surgery the pain was even worse in the shoulder and upper arm. The doctor assumed that it was inflamation of the nerve and eventually it would go away. He started me on steroids.
Avatar m tn The reason i was asking about the neck muscles is Dr. Menezes said that the neck muscles healing can cause those HAs and spasms to occur. They are sometimes the same as before the surgery but not as bad everyday. But they do come back eveyday. I have ringing in my ears and occassional numbness in my hands and feet like before. Im a pretty big guy so my dr thought I could handle it thats why i went back to work.
Avatar n tn I have had a 4th surgery on my left leg. TKR 5/09, Total revision 4/10, revision of knee cap w/ bone graph 1/11, and scope for scar tissue 2/12. I have multiple problems with my leg, pain most of which is walking and when I engage my quad. It hits a 20 on the pain scale. You can hear the massive grinding and crunching when the pain occurs. I have had many opinions, none of which is really answering problems. I have one issue that I feel has been a big part of the problem.
Avatar f tn It is right in the middle of my neck and it pulls the skin under my chin down causing me the appearance of being much older than my 38 years. I had not noticed how bad this scar was until I lost 75 pounds and now it is so noticeable that I avoid mirrors almost completely. The scar is directly under the chin, right in the middle of the neck area and 3/4" wide and about 1" long. This is really messing with my head and I am curious if it will cost me a great deal to fix this issue.
Avatar f tn My daughter had a vp shunt revision and all is fine w her incision but the day after surgery she started having sharp shooting pain in her neck when she was sitting upright. She is fine when reclining in bed. The pain is so severe and i dont know what to do. We went to ER and they did a cat scan and said that is was due to the new flow. This does not make sense becuase it does not occur when she is standing.
Avatar n tn Patients should also be aware that the chance of having long-term neck pain is increased with revision surgery. Retrolisthesis is the relative posterior displacement of vertebra on the one below it. Retrolisthesis is the result of degenerative disc changes. Indications for surgery are based on severity and duration of symptoms and a neurologic deficit rather than on degree of slip. Also, if there is an obvious increase in deformity, surgery is indicated.
Avatar n tn Hi Dr. Rosenberg, My ps is about to perform a capsulorraphy on me for my bottomed out revision using PDS sutures only to 'lift' the pocket up and hope that scar tissues will build up and help create a newly formed crease. Since my breast is already harder than the other side and have had more surgeries, I am concerned about capsular contracture. I heard taking Vitamin E and other supplements such as the following (Scar Multiplex Formula) would help: http://www.smhomeopathic.
Avatar f tn I had a lift and augmentation about a week and a half ago. I was adamant that I did not want the lolipop or anchor scars, my surgeon assured me that neither were necessary, and that she could do the procedure completely through the nipple and areola complex. I am very happy with the size, and shape of my breasts, but the incisions look horrific! The areola and nipples are stretched to the point that they are completely flat, even indented.
Avatar f tn If the results of your breast reduction are unsatisfactory, it is possible to undergo revision of scars, shape and size. If you do not have confidence in your original surgeon, then second opinion would be appropriate.
Avatar n tn I have and c5/6 disk fusion over 10 years ago and have continual pinched neck nerve pain that I deal with all the time. MRI shows continually bad but surgery not recommended (good). Question - since I can feel when the nerve pinches, it is on right side of neck - any pressure and it gets worse and triggers bad migraines but also swells up the back of neck. I use ice and fiornal to control pain. sleep with ice packs on my neck. can this raise my blood pressure?
Avatar n tn I had a partial face lift and neck lift 2 years ago. I still feel extreme tension/tightness at the sides of my neck, near my cervical nodes. I cannot palpate any node enlargement. I am also experiencing increasing parasthesia of my lips to the point of difficulty enunciating words. I have no lip drooping, but I experience some saliva drooling while speaking. My surgeon merely suggests more surgery.
Avatar n tn OMG I second that question! I had horrible complications from a demi lift w platysmal plication. Couple of years ago I am still dealing w residual effects and probably will still need a revision! Had steroid shots which caused painful fat atrophy which needed additional surgery to remove!
Avatar n tn I see there is a simular question already in the forum. My question has to do with the after effects I've had with a lower face lift. It seems that off to the each side of my mouth I have a bulge. They are different from each other. On the left side it's like the skin didn't lay down on the underneath muscle and it pretrudes, I can grab it. (?) On the right side there is a spot the side of a golf ball with something under it. Like gooush. My Doctor thinks it's scar tissue.
5831327 tn?1377816314 Hi fellow back/neck pain sufferers...I'll be brief as possible but give little history. I was in a high speed head on years ago. They diagnosed me with a concussion and sent me packing. That was in 98...fat forward to 06 and one day my right arm goes numb. Comes back to near normal, but tingly. Then both arms start and the numbness, tingling, burning, itching are not going away. Finally get an approval for a cervical mri.
Avatar f tn I'm 4 weeks post op from a very complicated Chiari revision surgery. I had titanium hardware removed, after my dura & brain was detached from the inside of it & an unhealthy duraplasty was replaced. I also had a drain that was left in after I left the hospital. Initially I felt better. I was released from the hospital 4 days post op, with the drain still in place. Then, after 3 days of spiraling downward, I called my NS & she told me to get there ASAP.
Avatar m tn Thanks for the reply. Guess I need to go see another surgeon. I've been going to really well respected people and I don't know who to believe anymore.
Avatar n tn Now, I am 8mos post op and my lower leg is numb with intermittent stabbing pain, my knee feels like mush, my quad is stronger but still extremely weak and gives out as I walk. I cannot walk upstairs, cant even lift my foot 3 inches off the ground due to hip flexor weakness. Recently, the doc noticed on a cross lateral xray that the cup protrudes from the pelvis and this must be the cause of the intense iliopsoas pain and groin pain I still experience.
Avatar f tn New to this site, can't find any answers so i though i'd give you a try, i had a morley webb fixation with metal work in 96 i had spondolilothesis a forward slippage of over 50% of the spine at L5/S1 although this made pain easier it was 3yrs before i felt human again, 2yrs ago pain started to worsen again, went for pain management have had lots of tests including cat scans & mri they found i had quite a bit of nerve damage but this does not correspond with my pain which is on oppos
Avatar f tn First was C4-C6, then C4-C7 with a hardware revision and then C4-T1 with a plate and cage. All were completed anteriorly. I have recently started having headaches, neck pain and some hand pain. Had an MRI and the results said: 1. Reversed lordotic curvature at C5-C6. No intra-axial pathology identified. 2. Multiple level facet degeneration and hypertrophy. No acute fracture dislocation. 3. Disc bulge C5-C7 with a mild spinal cord anterior impingement but no cord flattening.
Avatar f tn I had neck lift surgery in April of 2012. Ever since the back of the right side of my head feels like I have a metal plate that has been placed inside. My right side of head feels numb but at the same time I am in so much pain. Part of the pain goes deep into the center of the back of my head. The other part of the pain is at the lower part of the back of my head right at my neck. I get very little sleep due to not being able to lay on my back and having to sleep on my left side.
Avatar f tn Radiating down the Rt side of the neck, shoulder and arms. A dr in the same practice with my neurosurgeon ordered a CT-Myelogram 8 months later that showed residual spurring at C6-C7 producing an impression on the thecal sac and cord. Could this be causing my continued pain?
