neck

Avatar n tn so yes, statistically, your chances of developing head and neck cancer from hpv is significant compared to those who dont have hpv 16. and honestly, all you can do is try to take good care of your body and diet.....the rest is up to genetic dna and things beyond your control, so, try not to stress about things you cant control.
Avatar m tn Overall, HPV-linked oropharyngeal cancer is uncommon — for instance, 18 times more individuals will be diagnosed this year with colorectal cancer than with oropharyngeal cancer associated with HPV. Nevertheless, in a recent study in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) where researchers screened nearly 5,600 individuals ages 14 - 69, results showed an estimated 10 percent of American males are infected, or about three times as many men as women.

Avatar m tn com/id/50388546/ns/health-cancer/ Besides obesity, the report points to another potential growing cause of cancerHPV. The report finds that two cancers on the rise, head and neck cancer and anal cancer, are caused by HPV. “HPV-associated cancers accounted for 3.3 percent of all cancer cases among women and 2 percent of the total cancer cases among men diagnosed in 2009,” the report reads. That adds up to 21,000 women and more than 13,000 men diagnosed with these cancers.
Avatar f tn Does anyone know if tobacco and alcohol are still thought to be cofactors in oral hpv cancer? Do most people with oral hpv have a weakened immune system?
Avatar m tn Today I watched this program and was shocked. I was more concerned with getting cervical cancer in the future. Apparently HPV can lead to neck cancer. This worries me as I have been with my bf for 2 years now and engage in various activities including oral sex. I also have a lump at the back of my neck which has been there a few months but have dismissed it. Im also worried i may have put him at risk. Some advice would be nice please.
Avatar f tn what tests did they do to find out you had hpv related cancer of the tonsil
Avatar m tn s your risk of getting it in the neck is very small, let us then reverse it and say that there are very many who have it then means of course the risk that get it in the neck or getting cancer of the throat is very small in relation to how common HPV is, we have found that many people who get cancer of the throat has HPV, it's a big difference to come up with how many people have oral sex who gets cancer, as I said, oral cancers linked to oral sex, oral sex, but can hardly be said to be link
Avatar f tn ur GP is right.high risk hpv does not caught issues in throat.uf u keep regular with paps and follow advice ur risk of cerv cancer is low to nil as well.
Avatar n tn I came across in a magizine at work about this also being linked to throat cancer and have been pretty worried ever since. I would think if I had HPV 16 my husband would have too, and I have been performing oral sex on him for years 7/8 years hundrends of times. I feel like my case is a little different than others about this topic bc I had abnormal cells "down there" so wouldnt there be a good chance i have them in my throat as well being exposed to it many times?
Avatar m tn After reviewing various studies that have been done on oral HPV, there seems to be a clear link between HPV and oral, head, and neck cancer. I believe the American cancer society also supports this link. That being said, ~18 months ago, a female friend of mine performed oral sex on me twice within about a 3 week period. I learned 6 months later that she had an abnormal pap, and tested positive for high risk HPV (not sure which type). That brings me to the following questions: 1.
Avatar n tn She did have a series of blood on the younger son which are not back yet. I had a male friend that had hpv caused lump in neck and back of throat and was told that it usually turns cancerous in that case. How true is that? What is the proper test to dectect the hpv in teens? We are thinking this could be a hpv related prolbem or a mold prolbem.Should she have the IGG IGM checked to see exposure vs.
Avatar n tn Is that with respect to oral cancer? Are you saying i have a less than 1 percent chance that i may get oral cancer due to HPV from this type of exposure. (assuming i don't perform oral sex agin on someone) Also, this is assuming the worse; that she was in fact HPV-16 infected. Additionally, the lymph nodes in my neck on one side have been a little bigger, and also that side of the neck has been a little swollen.
Avatar f tn Are there currently any studies that explain how often oral HPV-16 turns into cancer? I’ve seen several studies say it’s as low as 1% or .7% of the time, and doing my own “calculations” has lead me to believe this is true, considering there are currently probably millions of men who have been orally exposed to HPV 16. 4. I have talked about it with him, and given him the facts. We have been avoiding oral sex until my next pap, taking multivitamins, and we’ve both stopped smoking marijuana.
Avatar n tn Welcome to the forum. Almost certainly "various lumps and bumps" in your mouth are not due to HPV, and certainly they are not cancer. The only oral cancer known to be caused by HPV is of the back of the throat, and is almost never seen in people under 40 years old. Also, HPV of the throat, as well as cancer itself, is entirely painless. There is no chance that any of these symptoms, or your possibly inflamed lymph nodes, are due to HPV or cancer.
Avatar n tn Since then, I am still very scared that I may have oral cancer. I keep having pains down the sides of my neck, in my jaws and ears, and trouble swallowing. I dont know if I am just over analyzing things or if I should get this further examined. Please HELP!!!
Avatar m tn i saw u all r helping so much to people i just want to ask HVP in throat i mean throat cancer by HPV by only oral sex or can also by vaginal sex?. becuse i had sex but i never did oral to any female and i m felling like somthing stuck in my neck like tonsil problem or what? can this be HPV throat cancer? or this cause only by oral sex? please help thank you so much.
Avatar m tn Other types can cause penile cancer or anal cancer. The types of HPV that can cause genital warts are not the same as the types that can cause penile or anal cancer.Anal cancer is not the same as colorectal cancer. Colorectal cancer is more common than anal cancer, but it is not caused by HPV. FOR MORE INFORMAITON TRY THE CDC WEBSITE @ www.cdc.gov lots of info on STDs and HPV......Hope this will help....
Avatar n tn Dear Doctor, I just watched the Today show and they had a study about HPV and that the number of head and neck cancers has tripled and anal cancer has doubled due to HPV. They stated that all cancers have gone down and the HPV related ones have gone up. Can you comment on this? My worry about acquiring or giving someone oral cancer has just skyrocketed.
Avatar m tn My advice is that you ask the question in the real doctor's Forum STD, doctors with long-standing experience of just HPV, use the search and search on "oral hpv" or "oral cancer ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 239123_tn?1267651214 H.
