Six months ago, I strained my muscle between my neck and shoulder, after running. Sometimes, the pain started at the base of the skull and at times my shoulder. I went to the doctor and took a xray that did not show a dislocated or herinated disc. I went on vacation and did not run but swim. I was free of pain. I have started back to running and thepain is back. What could be wrong?

I have pain in my neck, right shoulder blade area and my right arm. The pain is different depending on what I am doing. When lowering my head to get in my car or just moving up and down, the pain is in my neck. Sitting in bed it is in my shoulder and arm and sometimes my arm will have a slight numbing sensation. I have since then been on MSContin and Percocet. I still have severe pain in my shoulder, bad bad headaches, pain when moving my neck from side to side (ear to shoulder), nerve pain running down the back of my arm into my elbow, top of my forearm and into my pinky and ring finger. I still have burning pain between my shoulder blades and am constantly tense at the base of my neck and into my shoulders.
When I'm running I move my arms in your standard running motion and then after about 10mins the joint in my left arm becomes really sore and I was wondering if any of you know why?

I took some pain killer and got back to work and run again but max i could run in last 2 weeks is 5 miles. I am having shoulder and lower neck pain still. I also get hip pain when i run but not at any other time. knee is still hurting me but not that much as i can run 5 miles, i am still icing it daily. Do you have any help for my back and neck pain?
The pain was below the neck in the thoractic region. I have experienced pain and discomfort in my shoulder blades since then, but it has gotten much worse now. It's gotten to the point that I don't live pain free. I have bad days and worse days. I also get tingling around the shoulder blades and some tingling down my arm. The muscles in this area seem to always be stiff.
The last 5 years I started having sharp pains in my right lower rib.
I was diagnosed with auto hep. about 2 and a half years ago. It's well under control now. It took about 6 months or so to get my bloods right again. A biopsy showed only slight inflammation about 4 months after i presented with incredible joint pain all over. I am now on only 5mg of prednisolone and 75 of azathioprine.

I would get sharp and shooting pains that went from my neck all the way down my shoulder and down my arm and through my right thumb and forefinger. The sensation is like if you put your arm on an electrified fence and held it there.

Hi, I am very worried about my chest, breast, and shoulder pain on the right side. I have a dull pain with heat from my breast chest and back of my shoulder straight across from my breast to back. It gets worst and then it gets better. Above my collarbone is very sensitive. When I massage it the dull uncomfortable pain gets better. I also have a lump on my neck that connects to the spot above the collarbone. I have gone to the Dr.s but she said I have fibrosis. Something about muscles.
my pain level stays between 3 and 5 i have had steroid shots in my neck and shoulder which did not work at all, i have been out of work since june 2008 and there is no way i can do my job with the amount of pain i have in my neck. i am at a total loss right now i cant take the pain any longer. In february 2011 I had to have neck surgery from c-3 to c-7 fusion on each disk and a plate with 7 screws. There was pain after the surgery and nerve damage in the neck and both shoulders and arms. I have not been able to work since then nor have I been able to do any of the things that I did before the accident. I tried everything that I was asked to try, therapy, stimulator, hot pads, nothing worked. For the last 6 months my pain level has increased.
You're right, inflammation of the shoulder wouldn't explain the neck pain. Shoulder pain can refer to the mid and upper back, however a more likely scenario would be that you might have a nerve that's slightly pinched in your neck. That would explain the upper back and shoulder pain, because nerves in the neck refer pain to both those places.
All you probably need is some anti-inflammatory meds and sometime in Physical Therapy to stretch and strengthen those neck muscles.
In the last year or so, I have developed pain wiht typing. The pain occurs in the my shoulder, my neck and my upper back, especially in my shoulder blades and under my arms in the rib area. Also the pain seems to be worse on my right side from the side of my neck down to my right shoudler and shoulder blade. I also get a knot in the middle of my back. I have tried PT to strengthen my back, but with no help. The pain kept returning. I have tried antiinflammatories and muscle relaxers.
m still unsure as to whether or not I have chiari malformation, but have been having pretty bad neck stiffness with the pain now moving down my spine to between/just below my shoulders (the pain between my shoulders is a sharp pain whereas my neck pain is dull). Has anyone with chiari experienced symptoms like this? I'm currently waiting on my doctor to schedule me a cine MRI scan. I've been told that this is the only true way to determine if the CSF Flow is normal or constricted.
I have pain in my right forearm, it started as like bolts of pain running up and down my forearm. It went away for about 10 or 15 minutes but then the pain started in my elbow, stronger this time. That lasted about 15 minutes and went away for a couple minutes it then started on my shoulder even more strong this time; I felt the pain running down my arm to the tips of my fingers. The pain was so strong that it made me cry. I took 200mg of ibuprofen.
