Neck and shoulder pain that won't go away

Common Questions and Answers about Neck and shoulder pain that won't go away

Avatar m tn You know from this you will probably get arthritis and that loves you, so it starts eating away. They you get neck pain to the shoulder pain to the fingers on what fun. You are probably thinking I am crazy. You have to know they were just doing the 1st surgeries then, that's why they do not like to do the whole joint replaces now. All I know I would love a doctor or dentist (which I do not go to anymore dentist) to give me a straight answer. I had one great dentist & he passed away.
1337247 tn?1275782035 I began to fell my shoulder with my opposite hand and had no feeling in the shoulder, upper back, lower neck, whole right arm area. There was no tingly sensation involved, just complete numbness as if under anesthesia but fully functioning with full mobility other than the limitations due to the shoulder dislocation.
Avatar n tn This time after a few days went by, I was getting up from doing something, and something happened in my neck and shoulder area. I had the most excusiating pain in my neck, shoulder and arm. I began getting these sharp stabbing pains down my right arm and also the right side of my chest and shoulder area. The pain was like no pain i've ever felt. It laid me up for about 4 days, just laying on the couch. I never went to the doctor due to insurace reasons.
Avatar f tn An xray of your shoulder is useless unless you fractured or broke it. I say it is pain radiating from your neck that is aggravating your shoulder and I ain't no doctor. LOL Gettting a bath by your daughter and husband must have made you feel like an old lady! But I understand. My son has had to hold me up while walking to the bathroom numerous times. My doctor told me Friday that he cannot guarantee I will be back in school in August.
778037 tn?1377989800 On 26 Aug 2008, I had a total parotidectomy due to a 5 cm deep lobe tumor. After the surgery pain subsided, I was free from the head/neck/shoulder pain for about a month. Since then, the pain has gotten worse, however two additional locations have started to hurt. It is now on the side of my head (between my eye and ear) and deep in my neck. It has accelerated to a boiling point, much like it did right before I was referred to the ENT who performed my surgery.
Avatar n tn My doctor told me that its pinching my nerves cause I would have pain to my neck, shoulder, arm and fingers. My left side would become very cold, it tingles, burns, and pain would be very sharp. I was in a motor vehicle accident 2 years prior so my doctor doesn't think that cause the bulging. He then referred me to physical therapy and that helped lot. Just this past november I was in a bus accident and it bulged again but this time tore it as well so the neck pain is more severe.
Avatar f tn It doesn't take all of it away, but it makes it much easier to go up and down the stairs and getting in and out of the car. and, for me, the 800 mg. ibuprofen helps as well. I find if you can piece together a bunch of things to get a little relief here and there, it can add up to a fair amount of pain reduction.
408795 tn?1324939275 If you search my past posts, you will find quite a bit of comment on the ongoing shoulder and neck pain that I have dealt with from HCV and possibly also from the long tx'es. I am almost five years SVR, and suffer worse shoulder problems than ever in the past, and have a very hard time sleeping on either side, because my shoulder feels like it is going to explode in pain. I have done the MRI's and everything else, with no really definitive diagnosis.
Avatar m tn She doesn't have the arm pain like some of you and where they gave her shots in the shoulder part of the neck, that's in pain now too. With todays technology one would think there is something to do but the neck and back are really delicate.
Avatar f tn I felt fine at the time, but later that evening, my left shoulder and neck got stiff. About 15min later I got a headache behind my eyes and the pain in my shoulder was shooting down my arm, making my fingers tingle. It was almost unbearable.
Avatar m tn Back then I had severe pain when I turned my neck, it would start from neck down my shoulder to arm and hand with pain, tingling, and numbness but with little relief. At this time in 1989 this pain affected my left side only. I saw doctor immediately and started with conservative tx then physical therapy but nothing helped. Finally found a NS and Orth surgeon and agreed to the above surgery. Surgery went fine and pain went away.
1100837 tn?1267672275 Hello everyone. On March 31, 2010, I underwent an ACDF. Pain management was challenging bc I have such adverse reactions to most narcotics. After trying a battery of pain meds I was sent home on methodone (5 mg) and Valium (5 mg) and Zofran (4 mg) for nausea, three days later on April 3rd. (Let me add, I live alone and it took my insurance company 21 days to approve a Home Health Aide.
Avatar n tn Pain and stiff neck that radiates down my left shoulder, left shoulder blade that aches with almost constant pins and needles that wake me up every hour when sleeping.Pain that goes down my left arm and hammers my left elbow which has just had it's 8th cortisone(couldn't live without them)...Live on panadeine forte, morpine tabs, voltaren.and to add a little salt to the wound i'm now experiencing the same symptoms on my right side .Mirrored exactly!should be exciting...
2117989 tn?1340146839 The pain was REALLY!!!! bad. Oh and after taking the 1-pill it didn't even do much for the pain and i won't!! and can't take more than one. I would be over the toilet if i did that. RALPHinG!!!:((( please keep the positive words coming. I really need them!!!!!!!!
Avatar m tn I take up to 6 soma pills, 30 - 45 mg of percocet every 4 hours, and a 100mg fentyinal patch and the pain in my neck, shoulder arm hand and fingers still kill me. I can't work and all I can do is lay down because I can't support my neck. a surgeon suggested i get 2 epidurals for diagnostic purposes. I did get relief with the 2nd one however, my pain is indicative of c5/6 problems but the epidural above that gave me relief. He wants to operate but can't promise me anything.
Avatar f tn I WAS A ACTIVE PERSON BEFORE THIS HAPPENED. neck and left shoulder HURTS ALL THE TIME. MY shoulder ALSO CATCHES SOMETIMES LIKE WHEN I'M REACHinG FOR SOMETHinG. No strength in left arm. PLEASE RESPOND NEED ALL THE HELP I CAN GET! Surgeon appointment Nov.27 to look over MRI with me.
Avatar n tn I am having left forearm pain, my left middle finger is partially numb, I have a pain between my shoulder blades, the back of my neck feels numb, and my index finger is almost completely numb. It has been this way for over a month now and I am on 600mg Gabapentin and hydrocodone and have been on these meds for over a month and the Dr.s are doing little to help. They put me on 4 weeks of steroids and it did nothing. My initial MRI showed mild bulging in my C-5 disk and that is pretty much it.
Avatar n tn in 09/2005 he sent me to have another ct scan after sever loss of hand control and still sharp pain in right side of neck and shoulder pins and neddes in the hand and fingers. the results was a pinched nerve at c7-t1. back to surgery in 11-2005 after lossing our son in a motorcycle accident in 10/2005. the surgery was great the pain at the neck area was released during the surgery. but still had major pain in hand and shoulder and back.
Avatar n tn I was in a car accident last May. Have 2 Bulging discs in neck. I have severe pain in me neck and back and shoulder. I had a nerve block done on Wednesday, dont feel to bad. Drs saying its not herniated and not pinching any nerves nothing they can do. Doed that mean I have to wait for them to herniate before anything can be done. Nerve block will only last a couple of weeks. On muscle relaxers and migraine meds. never had this problem before dont know what to do.
Avatar f tn Ive only taken two doses so far but it does make some of the burning pain go away in the shoulder areas and helps even more with the widespread pain. I think we might be on to something, if not a daignosis at least a control method.
Avatar m tn Eventually the anxiety got better after alot of different meds---and I didn't notice the floaters so much and i hardly ever notice the ringing in my ears anymore. The neck and shoulder pain and headaches started almost 13 years ago and progressed to all over pain. We've been calling it fibro for years, but I have a number of endocrine issues that I am working on getting corrected and some deficiencies that I am working on, also.
778037 tn?1377989800 Drinking cold drinks brought on the pain a little bit. Listening to music through headphones brought on the pain quite a lot. The latter could have been a coincidence, as it was late in the workday when I listened to it. I put down the music as soon as the pain kicked in. I still have the pain now, although it's wearing off a bit. My point: I think the pain may be sensitive to sound.
358304 tn?1409713092 I hate anxiety... I'm obsessing about my neck/shoulder pain so much.. its all i can think about. and my obsession is "when will this go away?" or "it's not going away 100% yet, something must be terribly wrong!" It's played OVER and OVER and OVER in my head! Stinks! Ive gotten a couple of massages and it feels good... deep massage can make it tense sometimes. I'm just leaving it alone... and using ICY HOT at night before bed.
Avatar n tn It sounds to me like your headaches and shoulder pain are coming from your neck--specifically the neck muscles and more specifically the scalenes, and SCM muscles, probably with some help from the upper traps. you get his prblem from forward head posture--quite common in today's day and age of computers. You should get a book by Clair Davies called the Trigger Point Therapy Workbook. Read the head & neck and shoulder sections and then go to work.
1485281 tn?1287951992 I also get severe neck and shoulder pain with my sinus problems and this has been happening to me my whole life. there has to be a reason and a connection between my sinus problems and my neck and shoulder pain.
Avatar f tn Last Wednesday, after a particularly stressful few days and a 48 hour stomach virus I awoke with extremely oily hair. I, too, wash and condition my normally dry hair everyday. I, too, went to my Dr. who put me on Zoloft. It's been a week tomorrow and it is no better. in fact, it is worse - it started in the top and then went to the left side, etc. No one I have talked to has ever heard of this.
Avatar f tn Im now 16 hours with out any and its starting to get worse and worse no I now what is coming and what is going to happen and im going cold turkey as I know the more pain I go through the less I will want to go through it again I told my partner Friday after I went to the doctors and its broken her and myself but she is there for me, you have nothing to be ashamed of the first time I become addicted to drugs it was my fault and my choice to do what I did but if you don't forgive yourself you
Avatar n tn Small spot in between neck and shoulder that swells. pain is also in middle finger and thumb and elbow. Waking at night crying it hurts so bad and I am pretty tough....also..forgot to mention that since pain got worse and constant, I have lost range. Cannot lift arm up above head, difficult to wash hair.. I have pain doing simple things. Dr. sending me to PT but will take 2 to 3 weeks for clearance (ins) Dr. also mentioned ortho. A neuro did my surgery. I am scared of having permenant damage.
