The classic symptom of the neurogenic variant of TOS is characterized by non specific symptoms like neck stiffness, pain on raising the arm above the head, neck pain and headaches (relief of pain on lowering the arms) and a tired feeling in arm. Please consult the trauma specialist regarding this. Hope this helps. Please let me know if there is any thing else and do keep me posted. Take care!

What he has had since then is neck stifness and pain that radiates into the shoulders. We have been told that it is not related to this demylination episode. We had seen several physiotherapists, osteopaths, neuropaths and he has also had ultrasound treatment with no improvement to his symptoms. He constantly stretches his neck to relieve this feeling and this is usually accompanied by a "snapping" sound from the stiff muscle.
The pins and needles in your shoulder area, sharp neck pain and pain radiating down your arms are all typical of Cervical radiculopathy and the neck pain and stiffness could be caused by any one of your effected levels. Increased leg reflexes, weakness in the arms and legs and Dysphagia are all symptoms of Cervical spinal stenosis. I’m curious as to why the Neurologist that did your EMG wasn’t able to pin down the origin of the nerve supplying the muscle that had abnormal activity.
Now for the last week, I've had a stiff and achy neck which again seems to come and go. It only affects the right side of my neck, back of that shoulder and very top of the back. The thing I have notice and cannot explain is that the top right of my back is actually numb. If I run my finger along the top left of my back, I have normal sensation but if I do the same on the problematic side, it is numb.
I have had both upper and lower disc durgeries. What could be causing the pain in the neck and shoulder on the rt side?

An ear infection and a cold or frozen shoulder. Any professional advice n this situation would be great s its beginning to stress me out.

Since you are sick, you may be lying in bed with more pillows and bending your neck wrong. It's just not unusual to have neck pain when you are sick, although a very stiff neck can be a sign of meningitis, so be sure you keep that in mind.
The pain is at the (right side) base of my skull, middle neck, shoulder, shoulder blade, jaw, and shooting down toward my elbow. It is now 4 days of sore stiffness. I took a muscle relaxer that did nothing and tons of ibuprofen. I've been heating and massaging the areas along with stretching. What could this be?
another doctor wants her to schedule physical therapy. She is taking motrin 600mg. and that seems to help somewhat with the pain in the neck and shoulder area. But it is very frustrating for her, she feels she is being shuffled from doctor to doctor with no answers.
You may certainly have wrist tendonitis, but why the neck and shoulder pain. The pain and numbness you are having could be from your neck and an EMG would assist with that answer. It is a nerve conduction study. You also need an xray and MRI of your neck to rule out that as a cause for your numbness. I would see a neurologist.
It radiates around the right side of my head and at times causes excruciating pain and a numb like sensation in my right ear. My chiro adjusts my neck and mentions that there is heat and inflamation around the c-spine area, especially at the top where the atlas muscle is. His helper, does trigger point therapy on my neck and shoulders. This seems to help way more than the adjustments. My regular physician is very uncomfortable with the chiro adjusting my neck.

I'm still unsure as to whether or not I have chiari malformation, but have been having pretty bad neck stiffness with the pain now moving down my spine to between/just below my shoulders (the pain between my shoulders is a sharp pain whereas my neck pain is dull). Has anyone with chiari experienced symptoms like this? I'm currently waiting on my doctor to schedule me a cine MRI scan. I've been told that this is the only true way to determine if the CSF Flow is normal or constricted.

I have been experiencing stiffness in the back of my neck and then in the right shoulder for about 4 weeks Past week it has developed into tingling and numbness in my right hand, especially my thumb. The tingling occurs when me hand is at rest or when i am holding something. I have not experienced and loss of strength but is ios very annoying. When I lean my neck forward I get this pulling feeling on my left shoulder blade. Sometimes the pain goes into my left elbow and lower arm, and sometimes on the left side of my chest. The chest ache doesn't feel like pain to much. It just feels like if I put pressure on the left shoulder blade then that's when the pain will go to chest. I wake up with stiff a stiff neck a lot. Sometimes these pains last a week and go away for several weeks. Sometimes they go away for 2 weeks.
I have a constant stiffness and pain in my mid back. I have tried different specialists, general practice doctors, pshysiotherapists, acupuncture, massage....they all seem to help momentarily. But after a couple of days the symptoms are back. They include stiffness, a dull pain and a lot of cracking. I have developed this "tic" of cracking my own back by bending downwards, laterally and by stretching my neck upwards.
The most common early signs of spondylitis are constant pain and stiffness in the low back, buttocks and hips that continue for more than three months. The disease often starts around the sacroiliac joints and the sacrum (tailbone). Spastic muscles and trigger points can send "referred pain" from the shoulder up towards the base of the skull. Likewise, misaligned cervical vertebrae can send pain down through the arm and shoulder. Consider finding a good chiropractor in your area.
