Avatar m tn Once I got the cortisone shot the rib cage pain and stiffness went away as well as the leg pain and stiffness. I still had the knee pain and pain and stiffness in both shoulder, to the point where I still have difficulty putting on a shirt.
Avatar n tn I would think your neck nodes were swollen. Since you are sick, you may be lying in bed with more pillows and bending your neck wrong. It's just not unusual to have neck pain when you are sick, although a very stiff neck can be a sign of meningitis, so be sure you keep that in mind.
Avatar f tn HI I HAD A SHOULDER CUFF INJURY IN FEBRUARY FOR THE SECOND TIME, I COULD DRIVE AND EVEN HIT THE GYM TILL THEN, AFTER THE SECOND TIME I GOT INJURIED I WAS TENSED N WAS THINKING ABUT THAT EACH TIME AND ONE DAY I DREW MY BIKE THAT IS IN FEBRAURY FROM THAT DAY MY NECK SEEMS TO BE STIFFED AND ALWAYS HEAR THE CRUNCHING NOISE I DIDNT GIVE REST, I TRAVELED EACH DAY BUT IT WAS IN THE PUBLIC VEHICLE, BUT MY NECK PAIN AND STIFFNESS EVEN GOT WORSE FOLLOWING THE SMALL LUMP THT IS NOT VISIBLE TO THE NAKED EYE
Avatar f tn The pins and needles in your shoulder area, sharp neck pain and pain radiating down your arms are all typical of Cervical radiculopathy and the neck pain and stiffness could be caused by any one of your effected levels. Increased leg reflexes, weakness in the arms and legs and Dysphagia are all symptoms of Cervical spinal stenosis. I’m curious as to why the Neurologist that did your EMG wasn’t able to pin down the origin of the nerve supplying the muscle that had abnormal activity.
Avatar f tn I was in a car wreck it caused whiplash and a head contusion in 2008 and I just had surgery for Herniated Disc I had pain and numbness in my right hand and fingers, in my arm numbness in my elbow pain in between my shoulder blades and across my shoulder, neck stiffness pain in my neck loss of motion in neck and major and many headaches I also had dizzy spells and major sinus problems form it. I tried PT and chiropractors they were a temporary fix and that was it.
Avatar n tn What he has had since then is neck stifness and pain that radiates into the shoulders. We have been told that it is not related to this demylination episode. We had seen several physiotherapists, osteopaths, neuropaths and he has also had ultrasound treatment with no improvement to his symptoms. He constantly stretches his neck to relieve this feeling and this is usually accompanied by a "snapping" sound from the stiff muscle.
Avatar n tn You're right, inflammation of the shoulder wouldn't explain the neck pain. Shoulder pain can refer to the mid and upper back, however a more likely scenario would be that you might have a nerve that's slightly pinched in your neck. That would explain the upper back and shoulder pain, because nerves in the neck refer pain to both those places. All you probably need is some anti-inflammatory meds and sometime in Physical Therapy to stretch and strengthen those neck muscles.
Avatar n tn After few months i had this excruciating pain in my left shoulder, neck and arm.my doctor gave me the pain killer but its ma second day after the pain occurred and i can still feel the pain when i do any moment in ma left hand.
670877 tn?1225808525 It radiates around the right side of my head and at times causes excruciating pain and a numb like sensation in my right ear. My chiro adjusts my neck and mentions that there is heat and inflamation around the c-spine area, especially at the top where the atlas muscle is. His helper, does trigger point therapy on my neck and shoulders. This seems to help way more than the adjustments. My regular physician is very uncomfortable with the chiro adjusting my neck.
Avatar m tn m still unsure as to whether or not I have chiari malformation, but have been having pretty bad neck stiffness with the pain now moving down my spine to between/just below my shoulders (the pain between my shoulders is a sharp pain whereas my neck pain is dull). Has anyone with chiari experienced symptoms like this? I'm currently waiting on my doctor to schedule me a cine MRI scan. I've been told that this is the only true way to determine if the CSF Flow is normal or constricted.
Avatar m tn You may certainly have wrist tendonitis, but why the neck and shoulder pain. The pain and numbness you are having could be from your neck and an EMG would assist with that answer. It is a nerve conduction study. You also need an xray and MRI of your neck to rule out that as a cause for your numbness. I would see a neurologist.
Avatar m tn My neurologist called it an occipital nerve migraine which is exacerbated by neck and/or shoulder stiffness as DL32 went to a chiropractor to fix it. Another way to deal with it is with physical therapy that you can do on yourself any time that you feel stiffness. If that doesn't help or yours is a lot worse as mine is, then nerve block and trigger point injections also help. Good luck to you.
Avatar n tn Hi, I think your symptoms may be due to nerve irritation in the cervical (neck) spine because of cervical disc bulge. This pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head & shoulders (as it blades)- LHERMITTES SIGN, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants.
Avatar m tn When reaching out with left arm a bolt of pain shot through my hand starting from the middle fingers, shot up my arm and caused a stiffness in my neck. My neck and shoulder became very painful with soreness. My skin at the base of my neck on the same side is numb.
Avatar n tn Went to phisio, which helped with the initial horrible pain, but now I still have shoulder and upper shoulder blade pain, and also neck pain, occasionally along with it.There are times when the pain is still felt in my chest as well, although numerous trips to the hospital has assured me that mu heart is fine.(still a very scary feeling!)I also occasionally have a numbness in my left arm. 365545 tn?1268512537 In few people, this pain may be referred and perceived as occurring in the back of head, shoulders, arms or chest, rather than just the neck. Other symptoms may include vertigo, nausea (dizziness) and stiffness can be intermittent. It will be best that you consult a neurologist who would like to prescribe Pain killers, steroid and muscle relaxants. Other treatments could be cervical orthosis such as a soft cervical collar/stiffer neck brace to restrict neck movement.
Avatar f tn I injured myself at work from repeated and awkward lifting. I had been using a heating pad and Advil for a month for the pain. Then I woke up one morning unable to turn my head to the left. As I stepped out of bed, it felt like my head was being pushed down on my neck from above and crushing my spine. I could hardly walk and I couldn't lean forward to put on my shoes or lean over in any way. It felt like my neck muscles couldn't hold the weight.
Avatar f tn Since being assaulted by a resident in a care home that I work at I have experienced onging and increasing pain in my shoulder, stiffness in my neck, pain in my arm and numbness with occasional shooting pain into my hand. I often have problems holding onto things with this hand, or I lose strength in it very suddenly. It is my left and dominant side.
Avatar n tn My initial symptoms were severe muscle spasm in the right side of my neck, shoulder blade, and arm, along with sharp piercing pains, tingling and numbness running from my neck, shoulder, full arm, and through my fingers, and also pain in my mid and lower back. Unfortunately I was at the mercy of workers comp and I did not get the appropriate testing within a reasonable amount of time and was ultimately put on MMI without any. I was finally able to obtain MRI of my cervical with legal help.
Avatar f tn Yes, the ulnar nerve, the shoulder and the neck are related. The ulnar nerve originates in the neck. You probably need to do some neck stretches and posture related exercises. Just see your Doctor for a referral to a good Physical Therapist. No Chiropractors.
Avatar m tn After the 1st weight lifting day, there was a pain in back of left shoulder. I took a pain reliever tablet and pain was gone. I never weight lifted again. After a week , I again developed a pain in left shoulder and hands. I went to a doctor. He said, it was muscle pull. I was prescribed muscle relaxants, pain killers and ointment for a week . I was prescribed 4 weeks rest from gym. Its been now two weeks after I quit the gym , and the pain is almost gone.
Avatar f tn Do you have any suggestions for what I might be able to do on my own to bring some relief to the neck stiffness/pain and severe headaches that it causes until I get back to the USA again in 1-2 years?! Thanks!
Avatar m tn Do rotatory neck exercises. Do shoulder and upper back exercises. If these increase the pain, then show this to a doctor. Take care! The medical advice given should not be considered a substitute for medical care provided by a doctor who can examine you. The advice may not be completely correct for you as the doctor cannot examine you and does not know your complete medical history.
Avatar f tn Moreover the patients with migraine also complain of neck stiffness and neck pain. I would suggest you to always practice good posture while sitting and lying down making sure not to strain the neck. Also do some gentle neck exercises everyday. Hope this helps!
Avatar n tn The tingling is now gone, but I still have upper back/shoulder blade pain and arm pain. The pain ususally starts in my upper back, then under my armpit, then my upper arm feels tight and starts to hurt and the pain then radiates down the front of my arm, under my wrist and sometimes into my hand. And I still feel as if my arm is weaker. Last night I had some muscle twitches in my shoulder and when I lean back to stretch my upper back my shoulder does hurt some.
