Do not bend forwards too much if your job requires you to work on computers and make sure your neck is well supported at night on a pillow. Also try and do some gentle neck exercises every day. Hopefully these measures will help in relieving some of the muscle tension and consequent headaches.
That's the way my skin feels a day or two before my neck goes all wonky. The pain stays on the right side of my neck, mostly, and it stiffens enough that I cannot turn my head for a few days. Any experiences like this? I mentioned it to my doc several times, and he thinks it''s a repetitive stress injury, not much I can do about it, according to him.
The right side of my neck and front part of my shoulder has been hurting for a week now. It gets worse when I sleep. I have never had surgery or any pre-existing health concerns regarding this. I am positive my pillows play a large role in this and I have been a little bit stressed because it is around the holidays. I was traveling and also I have been learning A LOT of new things at work. Could it be stress and pillow related or something else? Should I go to the doctor?
I use a regular body pillow but they do make pregnancy pillows which is shaped a little different it can curve around you neck/shoulder and go between your legs and curve around your butt...it's all a matter of how much you want to spend! Also the only time you have to be leary of sleeping on your belly is when you are further along....not because it will be harmful to the baby but it's super uncomfortable !

Hello- I've been having a nagging pain in my neck and shoulder blade( mostly on the left shoulder blade) for several months now. I have always thought it is either my mattress or pillow that's causing it and have changed several to no sucess. I went to a orthopedician last year and he made me do a bunch of hand/leg movements and also took xrays, which were all normal. He suggested I get an MRI (which I didnt get, since I wasnt very happy with the doctor).
I've had a constant pain in my head, face, neck and shoulders for about 3 months. It never goes away although at times it's worse than others. My doctor tried me on Diclofenac and co-codamol and is now considering putting me on beta-blockers. I thought beta-blockers was for palpatations and hypertension, none of which I suffer from. I wondered if anyone had similar pain and has any answers for me as to what could be causing it.

I've been having alot of neck, shoulder and arm pain. My doctor ordered an MRI and the report showed bulging annulus c6-c7 but no focal disc protrusions, mild posterior lateral spurring on the right at c5-c6 with a slight thecal sac encroachment. What does this mean? Will this get better on it's own? I have severe pain that travels down my left arm so bad I can't even use my arm. It's worse when I first get out of bed in the mornings. Is this going to require surgery?
And now I also suffer from Neck soreness, shoulder pain and headache. I did the CAT Scan it's normal, there are 3 months I have this symptom along with Gerd. Doctors can't figure out it either. Don't know which is better, Any suggestions?

It originates from the tendons that reach from my right shoulder up the side of my neck and into the back of my head, but only when I turn my head to the right. And when I rub that tendon for a few moments the pain decreases, it is really weird because I thought that this shouldn`t last this long, for one thing I am only 18.
I am having the same trouble with my neck, it starts in the back of my neck goes along my shoulder and into my arm. Has even caused some numbness. I was diagnosed with FM last summer but pretty sure I've had it much longer than that. I recently had an MRI to find out what is going on with my neck, shoulder and arm. I was thinking that it is part of the FM but more severe in that area. Haven't got a reply from the nuerologist because she's decided to pack up and move her practice.
Use a hard bed to sleep. Avoid a pillow. Roll a towel and place it under your neck while sleeping on the back and between head and shoulder when lying on the side. Initially this will be uncomfortable but with time the acupressure will work. Use an analgesic cream or spray. Anti-inflammatory drugs and muscle relaxants also help. Also, you must improve your posture while sitting and working. Manual therapy, neck exercises etc should all be tried as all these can help relieve pain.

I feel fine sometimes and then it will come and bug me for a while and maybe feel better again later. No certain time of day that this happens. I don't know what is causing this. My doctor thought it could be due to my seasonal allergies, but not sure if that what is causing it.

So I got neck pain, headaches, shoulder pain, leg pain, and tenderness. I just started back working (because of this economy, not because of my back pain), and I swear I am in the worst pain ever. I can not sit up straight, in the same spot, for too long. Even when I'm leaned against a pillow in bed or on the sofa, my back and neck aches. I stay in pain!!

He gave me the injection in a trigger point and miraculously the pain in my shoulder AND neck disappeared for about 4 or 5 months. When it came back I thought I could get another injection, however, the second time it didn't help. I asked the doctor to MRI my shoulder since the relief of pain from the injection indicated that my shoulder might be the culprit of the neck pain. Instead he sent me to a rheumatologist to check for fibromyalgia.
