I wonder if it was a mis-diagnosis or half-diagnosis, and it makes me question whether the nerve pinching issues is actually at the shoulder RATHER than the neck. Regardless, the issue is no longer in my neck and shoulder, but in my neck, shoulder, and back. It's difficult to even pinpoint the pain. It's like one big, sore clump spawning from mid-back to shoulder to neck.
DIFFICULTY SPEAKING: One of the red flags I'm experiencing is difficulty speaking.
Have very severe neck pain. Have seen a neuroligist twice in the last two months. He did injections. Neither helped, especially last one. Neck hurts worse. Wake up with 2 out of ten pain. By days end pain is a ten out of ten. Been prescribed opiates, they do Nothing for the pain. What should I do? I am totally useless . Only extended bed rest helps.
It starts and goes through my collar bone area and up the side of my neck. It happens 50+ times a day, and is really interfering with my life. I can find no trigger for it, or anyway to get it to stop. Although each instance only last maybe a few seconds, it feels like forever, and happens often.
I dont know if the back and shoulder pain are related, but because both are on my left side, I thought they might be. Has anyone experienced these symptoms, or know of anything they might be?
I have had an MRI of my shoulder and x-ray of my wrist, and neck. (4 years ago) NO MRI OF SPINE, HEAD, NECK although the Dr has ordered an MRI of my neck this month. The bones and joints appear healthy,. nerve testing indicated my nerves were working ok (3 years ago) No tests have been done on my arteries and no bone scans. Physiotherapy and chiropractor..not intensive enough to make a difference. Deep tissue massage helps ease muscle pain and stretches also help to ease the pain.
Went to emergency with severe pain in right shoulder, up into the neck and down the right arm (woke up with it). Have been on 500 mg. Naproxen , twice daily, for 3 weeks, and 10 mg. Pms-cyclobenzaprine every 8 hours. I'm still experiencing pain plus some new tingling down the arm. Should I be going back to my doctor? It seems this is taking an unusually long time to get better.
This could be either bony or muscular pain. Cases of cervical spondylosis do present with pain in arms and shoulder. Neuropathy due to disc protrusion is other possibilty. Investigations like X ray shoulder joint or MRI cervical spine are best for diagnosis.
Try pain killers like ibuprofen, diclofenac etc for 4-5 days along with hot compression. If no relief is seen, do consult doctor.
I have had pain in my right shoulder for about 5 months now. My neck area longer than that. I was always told my neck was due to stress or something or another. Now I thing the shoulder and neck are maybe all in one. The doctor I saw today did a xray and said there is some arthritis in the shoulder but not alot and she believes it is my rotator cuff. I kind of suspected thats what it was.
You may certainly have wrist tendonitis, but why the neck and shoulder pain. The pain and numbness you are having could be from your neck and an EMG would assist with that answer. It is a nerve conduction study. You also need an xray and MRI of your neck to rule out that as a cause for your numbness. I would see a neurologist.
I also have been suffering with shoulder and neck pain, and even upper back. I was wondering if the two could be related. I was tested for hormonal problems, thyroid problems, myalgias, and anything else they routinely test for when they take your blood. I was given a low dose of antiepressant to help me sleep at night so I am not awakened with the pain. This helps at night, but I am getting weary of the constant ache.
Just looking to see if anyone has any weird syndromes or something similar, still have severe neck pain located on top of shoulder near her neck, when this pain is severe seems to drive many of the other conditions. Currently taking Keppra, today had a mild seizure if that is what this is while on medicine, we still feel somehow tied into her neck pain.
It almost feels like my shoulder blade is pulling away from my spine....VERY PAINFUL. My pinky and ring finger and shoulder become painful and numb at night (left arm). When I turn my head from shoulder to shoulder it hurts and makes a funny noise. My neck hurts and the pain moves into my shoulders. The cramping/aches in my legs has increased and my arms are cramping/aching as well.
I have no idea what the cramping was to begin with and now it is back to where it was and my back feels worse and my neck head and shoulders hurt. My jaw also hurt and behind my ears. There almost feels like a pressure in my ears.

had theraphy for frozen shouler cordizone shots inrt arm . had an exray only. theraphy makes it worse
seems all related, what should i do now.? any sugestion /?

We went back to the neurologist and he is still sure it is Parkinson. He says because my husband doesn't swing his arm and he has cogwheel rigidity in his wrist it has to be Parkinson. He did not want to do anything about th C5 C6 mild compression but my husband's neck and shoulder pain are getting worse. We go to a Movement Specialist this month for a second opinion.

3 weeks ago I work up with left shoulder pain esp. on the side and upper shoulder. The symptoms got worse and I had an X ray and MRI done of my shoulder. Everything checked out ok. a week later pain got worse and has radiated to my upper back and lower neck. Now I am having trouble lifting my left arm!! I can lift it if I use my right arm to assist but I cannot lift it on my own.Like I have no strength or something is wrong with my nerves???

Some of your symptoms are from your shoulder (pain) and some are from your neck (pins & needles). Swimming and water polo are really tough on good shoulders. After swimming most of your life, you could have developed some pretty bad motor patterns, ie using the wrong muscles to make movement occur.
Then it started being consistent. The pain traveled up to the top of my shoulder and my neck and sometimes down my arm. A little background: I can pop my shoulder in and out of place by myself with no pain. I could do that since I was little.
During summer, (June and July) I had x-rays and an MRI done of my neck. The doctors thought I could have something on my spine by my neck causing the pain to travel down.
Over past 2 weeks I've had pressure in back of head, neck. And left shoulder pain. I get dizzy when I go to lay down and get up. The shoulder pain can be very extreme.
Feeling dizzy on standing up could be due to fall in blood pressure (called postural hypotension), ear problems, cervical spondylitis and inflamed muscles in the neck (sternocleidomastoid). The latter two can also cause pain in the area between your neck and shoulder. Severe acidity with gastric reflux too can cause dizziness. Please discuss with your doctor. You will need some tests for a confirmed diagnosis. Take care!
