I have read on many things to do to help, I quit smoking, caffeine intake and alcohol intake the second this all started up last week. I have read that exercise can help, but am not sure if raising my heart rate will make things worse, especially since i am on the beta blocker. I have also heard that magnesium and calcium supplements along with omega 3 fatty acids and fish oils might help, but again wasn't told anything was in shortage by the ER doctors.
Hi Flycaster, Thanks for the reply - I'm female, taking Nebilet, which I think is called Nebivolol in the US? I spoke to a doctor and I'll get a blood test re the bruises, but she thinks it's unrelated to my cardiac history....? I am getting a catheter shunt first to treat the PDA to prevent heart failure, and then a catheter ablation on the Focal Atrial Tachycardia, which apparently has a very low success rate, but fingers crossed I'll be in that small percentile!

and the reason I say, "I think so," is because a friend is taking atenolol and told me that she had never experienced such high bp. Understand that I'm going by what she told me...just yesterday. I had a 24 hr, Holter Monitor done and an Echocardiogram since and I am awaiting the results. My cardiologist said that it is common for people to have palps after eating too much but didn't seem to think that was my problem. He insisted that mine were caused by lack of sleep due to pain issues. If anything of significance shows up on my tests I will be glad to tell you about it. Take Care.
For the past several years I have noticed that after eating food (which ranges from just a cup of milk to a full meal) that my heart rate and blood pressure increases significantly about 30 minutes after eating, and it lasts for about one and 1/2 hours to two hours. This occurs about 50% of the time after eating. My heart rate goes from ~75 bpm up to 140 bmp (max todate), and the blood pressure goes from 130/80 up to 180/102 (max to date).
