Avatar m tn I don't have a Cholesterol problem! My problem is I have a cloting problem I have Prothrombin and Lupus anticoagulant don't quote me on the spelling!! I was on Cumidon then aspirin now off the aspirin and on supplements and blood is good. I also take some other supplements that I haven't mentioned for keeping blood moving.
Avatar f tn QUIT smoking or vaping. This causes a myriad of issues and is linked to high ldl cholesterol. For triglycerides, alcohol is a big culprit. Also true . . . drinking alcohol raises blood pressure. Eat whole grains and avoid sugar. Niacin (*** check with doctor first before taking!!) and B vitamins (okay to take on your own) are also said to help. https://www.webmd.
Avatar f tn When you say high, how high, and what part is high? If this is your first high reading, I would personally try to avoid statins, as they have other deleterious effects on the heart and the rest of the body, but that's just my opinion. Lecithin does help indirectly lower cholesterol by helping to emulsify it, helping it to move more smoothly through the blood vessels. The problem with cholesterol is when it oxidizes, which causes it to stick to the blood vessel walls, narrowing them.

Avatar m tn YOur cholesterol is considered borderline high...meaning that its on the tail end of the normal range scale but still a little too high. That is easily remedied thru diet, exercise or the doc may want to put you on a cholesterol buster just until you get it down a little.
Avatar m tn Seems to me that excessive amounts of exorcise is required for your competitions. If so then you have done most of the "natural" cholesterol lowering you can by that alone. If it's still high then diet is the next "natural" way to lower it and I would assume with the competitions you are already watching what you eat. The only other thing you can do is to take the medication.
Avatar f tn ) It can also be that it runs in your family. For me personally, I had so called high cholesterol, did the natural way of reducing it, 3 months later it was only 0.01 less! I was shocked. Being vegetarian (at the time) and super fit, it was not nice to know my body was letting me down! I looked into my family history and found many of my family members past and present have/had cholesterol issues and out of at least 10 only 1 has thyroid issues. Everyone's bodies are different.
Avatar n tn Being overweight does not mean that that is a cause of high cholesterol. I am very overweight at the moment and my bad cholesterol levels have never been high. I do eat a lot of fresh fruit, salads and vegetables. I do not eat a lot of red meat (but do love beef which we have as a special treat - mainly because beef is more expensive that other meat products). Best wishes.
Avatar f tn This may reduce exposure to toxic substances and improve the health of the intestines. Fiber also binds fat and cholesterol, and reduces the risk for heart disease. As an added benefit, high fiber foods usually contain important vitamins and minerals.

Avatar m tn 60 years old, Female, 5 ft height, 81 lb weight. I am giving the complete history below but this is the issue in nutshell "Is Levothyroxine right medication for high cholesterol, when the thyroid results (serum T3, T4, TSH) are normal ? If it is wrong treatment will it lead to lasting health effects, currently we are seeing about 17 lb wt loss in 6-8 months. Weight went down from 97 lb to 81 lb.
Avatar n tn 31... Ok so I went last week for another yearly one. Everything was fine again cholesterol was 149, and this time though my TSH was 4.56 and they said it was a tad high. So they scheduled me for a thyroid antibody test a couple days later. They called me with the results and they said everything checked out fine and ok with the test. What do you think? I have read TSH like on my psychical reports ranges from 0.40 to 4.5...Also I seen some that say it goes up to 5.0...
Avatar f tn That juicing does make you feel great, like a natural high. I know im not going through tx or nopthing like that and I really should be feeling good but I can tell the difference. Im feel lots of energy!! Im a juicer for life! Thanks Matt and everyone!
Avatar m tn This tracker will be very beneficial for those users who have dietary restrictions due to medical conditions such as diabetes and high cholesterol, and will also be useful for those who are simply trying to watch what they eat. In addition to providing a calorie counter, the Food Diary will also allow users to track their intake of carbohydrates, fats, protein, sugar, vitamins, minerals, and supplements.
Avatar m tn Thank you for giving me all the references regarding cholesterol and Hepatitis B. I google about liposomes, did not get very far. It seems you have to use PERL (see blow) and have no idea whether these are available as products. Anyhow, this provides another approach to attacking HBV through targeting the host cells rather than the virus. You seem to think existing antivirals lower hbvdna only, but it also lowers the immune system. I see it differently.
Avatar m tn First off, I have not even suggested meds, I'm not sure where that comes from. The only point I'm making is based on the most recent information released. Based on recent studies it has been determined that our diets only account for 10% of our lipid levels therefore someone who needs to drop their lipids by 30% won't get there with changes in diet alone. This is a simple assumption as their current diet is already influencing their lipids.
Avatar m tn Hello and hope you are doing well. TSH is slightly elevated, but for therapy to be initiated T3 & T4 levels need to be considered. For control of cholesterol, I can give the following suggestions. Reduce the total fat content of you diet to <30% of calories. Of which of saturated fat<10% of calories, polyunsaturated fat <10% of calories and mono unsaturated fat <10% of calories. Increased dietary intake of fiber rich foods like oat bran will help.

Avatar n tn Fish oil and/or flax seed oil is an excellent source of HDL. There are also natural supplements that can lower high cholesterol. A good starting point to research this is Prescription for Nutritional Healing, and a naturopath or herbalist can help you with this as well. Some docs are even learning about this these days, but not many of them.
Avatar f tn Raising HDL is a good protective for high LDL cholesterol, and antioxidants that affect the blood vessels will help protect from the effects of triglycerides, but again, the best way to lower them is to not ingest them in the first place.
Avatar m tn Your LDL is very high and HDL is low, I would considers some lifestyle changes that include diet and exercise as well as a statin to help get these numbers down because high cholesterol and high BP are two modifiable risk factors and both will be benefited by diet and exercise. As far as BP meds go, I'm on Benicar HCT which is a angiotensin II receptor antagonist and it has worked very well for me for many years.
Avatar n tn Hi, i believe that high cholesterol is to due with your diet, i have not ever heard that stress can cause this to go high, low fat diet would help i think, but then again i am not a doctor :o) hope you better soon
