Avatar m tn Don't know if 5-HTP will help your GAD. It's the metabolite of tryptophan the body uses to manufacture serotonin. So when it works it works as an ssri does, but through a different mechanism. ssris are stronger in theory, but make the body use old serotonin longer, causing side effects. 5-HTP is the body's natural way of making serotonin, but serotonin might not be the answer to GAD. Everyone's different.
Avatar f tn This drug is for the GAD, but not if it's just for the insomnia. If it helps with the GAD it will apparently help with the insomnia, but antidepressants aren't sleep aids. As the above suggests, melatonin is for sleep. A lot of people are put on drugs that have an unwanted side effect of making people sleepy, but that doesn't make it a good choice for sleeplessness.
Avatar m tn I have recently started taking pregabalin for GAD and I can honestly tell that it is a miracle drug for me. It has been a week now since I have started taking 50mg pragabalin after meal. All of my GAD symptoms have gone. I don't feel severe anxiety, constant restlessness (akathesia), social anxiety, muscle tension, depression, panic attack e.t.c. Before that I was taking Zoloft, Paxil, Wellbutrin for sexual side effects, Inderrall for heart palpitation and muscle relaxants everyday.
Avatar m tn Be very aware of 'natural' 'alternative' meds. Remember that these are in general untested for use by the public. Arsenic/Hemlock/Strychnine etc are all 'natural' products. Suggest you stick to evidence based medication ~ as dispensed by Drs/Psych. Anxiety does play havoc with our lives, but I manage with the use of meds from Doc. Will take them for rest of my life. If you wish for the benefits you must also accept the often unwelcome side effects. Good luck.
Avatar m tn She was taking nexium for severe GERD and LPR for 5 years and was very ill. I searched online for an answer...and i found it! Insufficient stomach acid! I took her off nexium (acid blocker) and put her onto betaine HCI with pepsin supplements (to increase stomach acid) and digestive enzyme supplements (to improve digestion). Within weeks GERD and LPR were gone and about 6 months later anxiety and depression issues resolved. You need good levels of stomach acid to absorb essential nutrients!
Avatar f tn Has anyone tried any vitamins for anxiety or panic attacks? Such as Niacin, Valerian vitamin b3, b12 or anything? I was reading up on some things.
Avatar f tn Ive tried many anti-depressants, none of them did anything. I have mild depression but GAD is more extreme right now. So doc tried benzos, ativan & clonazapem...both did nothing. What else can i try for my GAD? I can't sleep at all at night because im constantly worried and thinking about stuff. I looked up buspirone online & beta blockers. I get a lot of performance anxiety so maybe beta blockers would help for that?
Avatar m tn Is there anyone out there suffering with GAD and if so do you always seem to feel unusually tired and cannot concentrate well?
Avatar n tn Can you please point some alternatives for GAD and resulted from it mild depression. I am against medication. I appreciate your responses.

Avatar f tn m 33 weeks with my son and would rely like an epidural this time as I had nothing with my daughter just over a year ago and the labour was 47 hours long and so painful, I am just worried as iv heard epidurals can be really bad for your back and you lose feeling in your legs for like two days, I'm not. Very lucky person so I know this would happen to me lol! Any advice/ experiences?
Avatar f tn They can be helpful for many things, but I strongly believe exercise should be a natural process, not one pushed by supplements. That becomes unhealthy too much of the time as you move to more and more unnatural supplements that can work but aren't good for you because you aren't satisfied with the slow results that natural processes produce.
Avatar f tn If allopathic medicine isn't working for you, try natural medicine. There are herbs for hyperthyroid. You might try finding a naturopath or holistic nutritionist in your area. No guarantees, of course, but a different approach might be called for.
Avatar m tn I'm curious if anyone has tried the following "natural" alternatives for anxiety/stress and if you had any success with them: L-Tryptophan L-Tyrosine Passionflower Valerian Kava Kava St John's wort SAMe Vitamin B Complex DL-Phenylalanine Fish oil GABA Inositol 5-HTP essential oils (aromatherapy) calcium magnesium I'm not looking for a cure-all or a replacement to therapy.
Avatar f tn ) or any of those types constipate me. I was hoping for a natural suggestion to talk with my doctor about. They are not very informed with natural treatments of things and said they would talk with another doctor and let me know what they want to try next. I figured since I am on here I might as well ask if you know of natural treatments for FM so that I have a list in case they don't!
Avatar m tn Also my problem is mainly GAD and mild depression has come with it. Currenlty, I am taking pregabalin for GAD. Wonder drug for me. I am little concerned with it side effects such as infertility and birth defects. Apart from that I am very happy with this med.

1192727 tn?1282735542 I took Folic acid and even pre-natel vitamins for a while before I got pregnant to build up my vitamins. Also drinking water and making sure you are well hydrated helps.
Avatar f tn Does anybody have any suggestions on vitamins that I could get for DH? I'm going to wait a few more months before I make an appointment with an RE, but I feel there is something that we can be doing now to help increase our fertility. I'm currently taking pre-natals, but don't know if I should also be supplementing? Has anybody tried the FertilAid, with any success?
Avatar f tn Can anyone suggest any natural/vitamins for fertility? I am 43 and want to concieve naturally. I would appreciate your input and stories of success with natural methods. Thank you!
Avatar n tn I have had intense GAD for over two years now. It started after the birth of my first child. I have tried many anxiety meds: Prozac, Lexapro, Effexor, Paxil ect. I have also tried many natural cures ie. Saint John Wort, 5-HTP and many amino acid supplements. They either did not help at all, or they took away the anxiety but left me with intense stomach pain (IBS with constipation), fever, nausea, and vertigo.
Avatar f tn Any tips or tricks for Anxiety, I think I have GAD I have not been diagnosed with it but all symptoms seem to lead that way. I have been tested for everything else and cant find the doctors cant find anything else. I dont really have full blown panic attacks although I think I have had them in the past, but all day all I can think about is my health and I feel every single little pain or ache or anything that does not feel quite right. I am constantly thinking of what will happen.
Avatar n tn Hi. I am currently taking Buspar for GAD. It does not seem to be having (after 2 months now) the effects I hoped it would. Before jumping to a Benzo, I would like to try L-Theanine. Any drug interactions known? Any information on L-Theanine? Thank you.
