antihistamine

Avatar f tn Hi, my dermatologist has prescribed me a antihistamine for my itching and wants me to use it for 4-6 weeks. The med is called hydroxzine. I am concerned because i never heard of anyone using antihistamine for that long. Will this severly affect my liver? Please help!
Avatar f tn If you give your body adequate amounts of water, less histamine will be released. So I was going to try the natural anti-histamines but i read a post for a woman who had been suffering for years and she started taking fish oil and her hives stopped. So on February 6th I started taking the fish oil because I already had that. I was hive free in 2 days and my cycle just started today so it is pretty much a test.
Avatar n tn Including alternative stuff. They react very differently to adults.
666921 tn?1254990618 I personally don't take antihistamine but just some advice I read that - antihistamine suppresses the immune system - never thought about it before - they work like steroids - some very good advice on another forum was - do not take antihistamine if you have lyme I am sure some of you already knew this but just thought I would mention it
Avatar n tn How long can i use antihistamine for my daughter aged 7 months to relieve her of the eczema itching.
Avatar f tn Advair diskus 250 was lasting two weeks for (4 puffs a day) and pulmicort for $15 more, had 200 doses and I was only using 2 a day because it was 400ug instead of 250. The best is to go and ask a pharmicist to look up the prices for you.
Avatar f tn 5HTP or SAMe are naturopath alternatives to the prescribed anti-depressants. If you are looking at taking these you should still be monitored by a Naturopath Dr. There are differences between the two and someone in that field would be the best person to assess which one would be right for your symptoms. I'm not sure if there would be any contradictions with 5HTP and diazepam as you shouldn't take 5HTP if you are already on an anti-depressant.
549511 tn?1271775930 I have tried so many medications, natural as well but many$$$$ and doctors lately I am losing Faith in them all .the lastest specialist i went to was an allergist and he told me this new antihistamine would reduce the rash within a very short time.Well i took it and 15 minutes later my head my spinning and i felt disorentated,it freaked me out so i laid on the bed and woke up 17 hours later. It was no antihistamine at all it was an anti depressant drug.
Avatar f tn The staff was very helpful, and for the size of the place, it had an impressive selection of vitamins and other natural food products, etc... You might want to run a google search for the exact location or phone #.

Avatar f tn The optipranolol has nothing to do with the floaters so let's put that aside. The "swelling" could be due to allergies in which case the optipranolol might help possibly and you can take that drop as long as you need to under the supervision of your doctor since it approved for allergic conjunctivitis. The "swelling" could also be related to other things like fluid retention in the body or natural weight gain and puffiness due to age and genetics.
Avatar f tn Since then I have avoided taking any antihistmaines except for Benadryl. I did take an occasional Claritin but it seems like every time I did anything I break out more. My allergist told me to try Claritin tabs instead of gel caps but I took one after having my allergy shot and I broke out in hives again. Now all the pollen is out and my eyes are really itchy and red and I have a hard time seeing at work. I tried taking Atarax last night to see if that would help more than Benadryl.
Avatar f tn not life or death type allergies, but sneezing, itchy nose and eyes, headaches. I take a one a day antihistamine to deal with it. .. but it says on the box not to take if pregnant. Im only 7 weeks, and have stopped taking them... but my allergies are horrible at the moment. All the sneezing is not helping with my morning sickness. During my last pregancey my symptoms actually went away but not this time... my question is can i take my antihistamine?
Avatar f tn Here's one for the books. My daughter has had a allergic reaction to an oral antihistamine she took for what appeared to be hives just below the right side of her derriere. This little bout of hives were taking their time going away and so she thought by taking the antihistamine it would help the process.
Avatar n tn Watermelon, or ask your doctor for diglegis. Safest medication for pregnant women, it's an antihistamine and vitamin combination that really helps! Watermelon naturally helps soothe the stomach. Some say ginger but it made me worse. Also make sure your stomach is never empty, keep snacks by the bed, empty stomach makes it worse!
Avatar n tn DSM-IV does not classify medications. Coricidin is an antihistamine, not a mental health medication.
612551 tn?1450022175 Thanks, I had seen some where making use of Benadryl antihistamine oral for dogs... making some adjustment for weight. Thus a 20 pound Westie would be a small fraction of a pill. I just now wonder too if the antihistamine oral might also be of some help with the skin.... I'll stick to one experiment at at time, otherwise the results can't be mapped to one action. I may try Gold Bond, that too had come to mind, in fact I tried a little a few weeks back and decided not to continue.
Avatar m tn thanks for the reply, yes i googled that before messaging and the only one it shows is Seldane, because of the problem with this antihistamine and that it had been taking off the market (not a newer antihistamine), i wanted to know of any other antihistamines? are there no others for enlarged prostate sufferers? 2nd question is after stopping the intake of antihistamine that effect the prostate, woiuld these be a short term effect and the prostate goes back to how it was?
Avatar n tn I always have a bad reaction to insect bites or stings with really bad swelling. Normally necessitates application of loads of antihistamine cream, taking maximum dose Piriton tablets for days, then a course of strong antibiotics. If I'm in a situation where I know there is the risk of being bitten, is there any advantage in taking Piriton tablets in advance - along with using insect repellent?
Avatar n tn It seems to be concentrated around my belly button which seems to stay pink most of the day, but sometimes fades to white, but much more pale than my natural skin color. Any suggestions on what this could be?

Avatar n tn If you use an antihistamine thinking it's an allergy when indeed it's really a heart problem, the antihistamine can make the heart worse, so you must get a diagnoses before you treat..... Licking air is usually Nausea or acid reflux....Post nasal drip normally causes a cough...Good luck & let us know what you find out....
