Avatar f tn Has anyone had chronic PND with loss of smell? Is there help for this???? I am desperate. I have suffered with this for years. I don't know exactly when my smell went completely, it was gradual. I want so desperately for it to return. I have taken immunotherapy, MRI, CT scan, lots of antibiotics, prescription nose sprays, nasal wash, etc. to no avail.
1687346 tn?1305586491 I just finished my last dose of prednisone only no antibiotics this time and had my ENT check, I look good and clear but two days later I am already getting sinus pressure again and starting to lose my sense of smell. I am going through cycles of medications, relief for a few weeks then back again loss of smell and drainage and back to the docs to get relief.... I am TIRED OF IT! I'm already on Nasonex, Astepro and now trying it with Zrytec instead of Singular.
Avatar f tn I was on nasonex spray prn or I take 1 puff each nose at times for few years= 4 years. Now I noticed hair thinning and loss. I have stopped the nasonex now. Will my hair grow back as usual? I am so worried. Iam not taking any other medication. But on hair supplements- zinc, vitamin E and multivitamin. Started my hair massage!
Avatar n tn I had sinus surgery and got my sense of smell back after 6 years of not being able to smell. My dr recommended to use NASONEX for life. since that shrinks polyps. Start using that everyday twice a day along with Neilmed rinse.
Avatar f tn The strange smell must be because of sinusitis. The smell getting worse during an attack of cold and the discharge trickling down the throat are features of sinusitis. Try taking mucolytics (bromhexine/ambroxyl), oral antihistaminics [(such as cetrizine or fexofenadine) if at all you are having any allergic nasal symptoms], saline nasal drops and steam inhalations. Also drink plenty of warm water. Hope these medications would alleviate your symptoms. Any more doubts you are welcome.
Avatar m tn Ok a guy at work brought in a tropical plant. After a few days it started to smell bad and after a few more days he got rid of it. But he did not clean out the vase it was in. After a few more days I got this bad smell in my nose that is getting worse and worse. It has been over a month now and I have tryed nasel kit to flush out my nose. I have tryed a nasel spray called NASONEX that my Doctor put me on along with allegra. NOTHING IS WORKING.
Avatar f tn All of those problems could be symptoms of a sinus infection in your upper sinuses. Only a doctor can make a diagnosis. If it is diagnosed as a bacterial infection, and you are prescribed antibiotics, and they do not work, as is sometimes the case, then here is an alternate treatment that is extremely effective against viral, bacterial, and some fungal infections. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar m tn If it is due to injury to nose internally then this may recover. The various tests carried out to detect the cause of loss of smell is CT scan of nasal sinuses, MRI of brain, allergy testing, and blood glucose levels. This is followed by quantitative smell test which helps identifies the degree of loss. You can try smelling things consciously and eating highly seasoned foods to provide triggers to smell and taste. Please consult your neurologist too. Take care!
538745 tn?1213755988 Tinnitus may be the result of age-related hearing loss or ear injury, or it may be an indication of a disease of your circulatory system. Many medications have been tried to relieve tinnitus with varying degrees of success. Treatment consists mostly of managing the problem. Your doctor can discuss with you steps you can take every day to reduce the severity of the noise or to better cope with the noise. I hope this helps. Take care and keep us posted.
233622 tn?1279334905 Sorry if I have posted this question before. Any one have a loss of smell? I can not smell natural gas or my kids messy diapers. My MS doctor said she would generally send someone with a loss of smeel for an MRI to see if there was a tumor that was causing the problem but I had an MRI. I told her I thought it was from chronic allergies or sinus problems. She said sinus problems can cause loss of smell. We didn't talk about if it could be related to MS but I do wonder.
29837 tn?1414534648 My allergist gave me a sample of Nasonex, which I used for about a week. Unfortunately, it did not help my symptoms and I had frequent nosebleeds. Maybe try the spray for another couple of days?
Avatar n tn I noticed that at first my ringing was real low but then all of the sudden as soon I took the nasonex my ear ringing got a lot louder out nowhere and it also kind of started in the other a little bit then that went away. But my right ear kept buzzing loud for a couple of hours but then later that night around 1am in the morning I noticed that I didn't hear any ringing at all.
Avatar f tn Up to 40 percent of people with other viral infections, such as influenza or the common cold, experience a temporary loss of smell that usually reverses itself in a couple weeks. The condition is also common among people with allergies.

Avatar n tn I fractured my skull Jan 2012 with bleeding, loss of consciousness all after a seizure. Two week later I lost my sense of taste and smell and later developed a bad taste/smell. Eating is NOT pleasant. I no longer enjoy pleasant scents. I only apply perfume I know smells good to me. I've lost 30 pounds simply because I can hardly stand the taste of food. It could be worse, I could have lost my eye sight or hearing. I try to look at it that way.
531684 tn?1216745984 I have to admit It was scary. Deep down, I think it is most likely a symptom of my using Nasonex. The reason I feel this way is because I typically wake up in the morning with a nose caked in dry blood and sometimes blow it out when I'm blowing my nose. Is this a typical symptom? Should I stop using Nasonex? The reason I'm asking is to feel secure, I will certainly see a Doc, but I don't want to worry all day if this is normal.
Avatar m tn Delayed symptoms include depression, irritability, sleep disturbances, seizures, loss of smell etc. Injury to olfactory and lingual nerves of smell and taste could be a cause or it could be that nerves are in shock. Once swelling and contusion following the fall will subside some taste and smell may return. However, when this will happen is difficult to say. Your father should be shown to a neurologist once. Take care!
Avatar f tn Fever and loss of smell and taste are suspicious for COVID; consider getting tested.
