I was paying $135 or so for Nasonex, which I thought was ridiculously expensive at the time. When Flonase became an OTC product, I thought Nasonex would become cheaper. That's what competition is supposed to do. But noooooo... I went to CVS today and the price was $218 for Nasonex. That is a total ripoff... Why did the price go up? So what's the difference between Merck, the manufacturer, and a robber with a gun on the street? Answer: The gun. Merck robs you without using a gun.
I have also been on a regimen of Nasonex and other sorts of nasal sprays that you need a prescription for. Once again, I saw temporary relief only to have the symptoms return.
This summer (and now September) of 2008 has been really bad. (I lived in Japan from July 2006 to May 2008, and for some reason I had few allergic symptoms there). I am, like ever, waking up in the middle of the night unable to breathe because my nose gets congested. I blow my nose, but nothing gets drained.
There are a lot of steroid nasal sprays that you might react better too. Nose bleeds are a common side effect so a different brand may help better. Others are ayamys, nasacort, or nasonex, plus many others.
Nasal rinsing using a neti pot or neil med sinus rinse may also help flush out anything that is in your sinuses and there is a much lower risk of bleeding since there is no medication, it's just pure saline.
Ever since I got my wisdom teeth taken out over a year ago, I've been getting a strange taste/smell in my throat and nose. It's not constant, but after I've had a bit of a cold or something it gets worse. It's mostly in my nose currently, and whenever I sniff I can smell it. I went to the doctor once and they prescribed a nasal spray (nasonex I believe). It helped but didn't make it go away completely.
My symptoms started a month ago when i had a fever, throat pain, coughing up yellow mucus and a runny nose, so i decided to visit my doctor which prescribed Klacid 500 mg (Clarithromycin), which i took and after a few days the runny nose stopped and my throat no longer hurt, however, i was still caughing, which a follow-up to my doctor gave me Valdocef (Cefadroxil) which i also took but the cough remained.
I suddenly had developed wheezing and coughing after exposure to some toxic paint plus for a couple of years when I climb stairs I am short of breath. He said to take meds for a month at one dose and for another month at a half dose and to thereafter see another pulmonologist.
He prescribed three meds, one ('Nasonex') that was already taking based on an ENT's recommendation. I am able to find that one easily in many countries where I travel.

I already had a Sinus CT scan done a few months ago that showed "mild" mucus thickening of maxillary sinus and deviated septum. My ENT said this was virtually negligible, but he put me on 2 weeks of antibiotics (Azythromycin) anyways, in case i had a bacterial infection. None of this helped my symptoms.
I got in to see the ENT dr a week ahead of schedule. I have chronic sinusitis, scars on both ears from past infections, and "fairly severe deviated septum,". He had trouble getting the scope up my nose, had to go to a smaller one. He put me on a "push" of prednisone, antibiotics, and Nasonex. Also scheduled a CT scan of sinus's in a month to see if infection is gone. Then he said we would decide what to do. My sx were a constant drippy nose, pressure in ears, headaches.
And prescribed me Albuterol for my asthma, an antihestimine for my allergies and nasonex for my sinuses and sed that that the combination should clear up my sinus problems and hopefully alleviate my headaches. But as a precautionary step She ran blood test for HIV/AIDS HEP A/B/C a liver panal kidney panal and a thyroid panal and white blood cell count she also checked my blood suger. All test apparently came back normal.
I definately for years at the change of the seasons when my nose gets stuffed up and i deal with the chronic sinusitis have bad neck pain as well they do come hand in hand for me!!!
Hello my mother have ca breast in remission on femara 2.5mg now almost taken it for 5 years , asthmatic and allergic rhinitis recently she complain of sudden paroxysmal attack of vertigo ***-cited with dizziness and headache with blurred voisson only when she moves her head back the attack persists for 2 min only.
l am sick of going to the docs with my ringing and constantly feeling blocked ear, l have seen 3 different docs and 1 ENT all of which say my ears look fine, they are not fine and at the moment my head is throbbing, my left ear ringing and feeling very pressurised, l feel very down and depressed and worried as in 5 weeks l'm off to europe :( This is supposed to be the holiday of a lifetime with my fanily and all l can think of is what is going to happen with my ears, can anybody help me?
If so, this goes more in favor of a sinusitis diagnosis. Sinusitis may not always be there, it may keep flaring up when exposed to triggering factors. So, you can take therapy when you have symptoms like pain, nasal congestion and postnasal drip. If you do not have any symptoms at present, it does not need any therapy.
If it is a chronic sinus infection, 4-6 weeks of antibiotics are pretty standard in addition to nasal steroid sprays, oral steroids, and salt water irrigations of the sinuses.
I had a few ct scan one for the sinus and one for the concusion they won't use dyes because afraid of my alergies so not sure how well they work there was nothing significant that showed up. I am alergic to alot of things and since november have been off work because of them, the headaches, and the sinus.
Lately I've been feeling pressure in my nose and throat and sometimes in my head then i start to get dizzy.I've been like this for about a month already.I've lost weigh because of this problems that worries me alot.I went to the hospital like 3 wks ago and they told me i had sinusitis and ear fluid in my ear! i took the medication they gave me but i still feel the same.And from all of this im getting sick from my nerves,i get very nervous!!!
For over a month I had been having some slight issues with my throat being irritated and my ears aching a bit. Sometimes when I would chew food I would get pain in my right ear and even my right eye would ache. Also, the right side of my throat feels a tad bit swollen. I've been having issues with my ears and my sinuses. This has been bothering me since April. In May, I went to the doctor - he said I had a ton of fluid behind my ears and he thought it was being caused by a sinus infection. He prescribed antibiotics (Z-Pak) and Nasonex. At the time I was having some congestion, ear pain/ache at random times and when I would chew/open my mouth.
I went to work by riding a bike for about 20 minutes and then i vomited at work once. After that i was good for the rest of the afternoon. i came home, ate a sandwich, drank a beer, and threw up some mucus. at about 7pm, I went, ate rice, chicken, and some lettuce and went outside and felt ill. Almost threw up. Burped a few times and felt better.
now I'm pretty much fine feeling. To back up a bit, I've been feeling tired and weak for about a week now.
