Nasonex for sinus infections

Common Questions and Answers about Nasonex for sinus infections

nasonex

Avatar f tn I had a cough and congestion for about 3 weeks before the doctor was able to diagnose me with a sinus infection. He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin.
Avatar n tn sore throat,Vomiting,Painful menstrual cramps,Sinus infections,Viral infections,Coughing ,Nosebleeds,Joint pain,Bronchitis,Chest pain, ...etc ! to be honest with you anxiety and depression are not related , ask your doctor maybe you will take ,antidepressants again.
Avatar f tn In 15 months I've had 10 episodes of acute bronchitis, often accompanied by sinus and/or ear infection. It usually starts with cold symptoms, post nasal drip, unproductive cough leading to wheezing, coughing until I vomit and a trip to the doctor's for antibiotics. The last few episodes progressed from scratchy throat to full blown ear/sinus infection and bronchitis in 3 days. The usual treatment plan is antibiotics, inhaler (with steroids), nasal spray (like Nasonex).
Avatar n tn Antibiotics sometimes don't work for sinus infections, because sinus infections differ than other types of infections, and anyway, soon, a large swath of bacteria strains will be antibiotic-resistant. The Flip-Turn Sinus Flush verifies a Mayo Clinic discovery about the true nature of some sinus infections, but I will not recommend it until you have gone through your other meds. http://www.medhelp.
Avatar f tn Ask your doctor to prescribe Nasonex. I know it sounds crazy, but i had ear infections with little to no cure for 10 years. This last doctor said it was a sinus infection, and sure enough, no more problems. After symptoms go away, only use as needed or you will get chest congestion. Good Luck.
538745 tn?1213755988 Nope no congested nose or sinus problems at all.. I had this problem for about 4 weeks now ..and the GP I'm seeing here put me on Nasonex he said could be in my sinus since he look into my ears and they were clean. I'm 53 years old .no ringing . but hear people talk again like a echo..plus the sound of putting a sea shell up to my hear..I learn to put the tv on really loud .than doesn't bug me as much..
29837 tn?1414534648 I've had sinus problems for years. Post nasal drip for one. I'm a professional singer and it's been tormenting me for years. Recently I went to an eye, ear, nose specialist who prescribed Nasonex. Anyone have any success with it? I say that because I tried it now for two days with no effect. Do I need to try it longer? Anyone?
Avatar n tn I just started using Nasonex (steroid nasal spray), and it really helps my allergies and sinus headache, and eye-related sinus problems. But I also have PVCs and my heart pounds a lot (can feel it in my head, back, etc). I'm wondering whether Nasonex is safe to take long term if I have these heart issues. Doctor just shrugged his shoulders when I asked. Anyone know?
Avatar m tn Going to see an ENT next Friday - had previous sinus surgery and sustained sinus infections over the years. About 6 months ago, I had another one, but soon after developed a constant need to burp, or the need to clear my throat. Sinus has been treated with Augmentin, 5 courses, plus use of nasonex. Scans revealed polyps and mucosal thickening as well.
Avatar n tn I've had such a tough time with sinus headaches, allergies (watery eyes, plugged ears and tinnitus) and fatigue that I finally went to an ear-nost-throat doctor last week. He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on.
Avatar f tn Have you tried going back to nasonex or asking your doc for a different nasal spray...there are many prescription nasal sprays out. Might could try zyrtec once daily especially during allergy season, as it is now over the counter. Some people find good results with nasal saline. It is inexpensive, shouldnt cause rebound. I would at least follow up with your doc for a recheck to make sure nothing else is going on. PS..elevate the head of your bed about 4 to 6 inches. May give some relief.
Avatar n tn He never mentioned sinus infection. I have the Nasonex which I am going to try today, he said that should help to prevent any sinus infections. I'm thinking of getting the surgery though just to get it over with. I heard it wasn't that bad.
Avatar f tn ve had reoccurring sinus infections (3 in the past year). I no longer have the infection but I have CONSTANT post nasal drip. It happens everyday, particularly in the afternoon/evening. When it gets really bad, I get a sore throat or feel nauseous and my voice is always hoarse. One ENT suggested it was allergies. I tried: nasonex, afrin, mucinex-d, claritin, allegra, zyrtec, flonase, etc. Another ENT thought it was acid reflux.
Avatar n tn I do not have any cysts or sinus infections. I do not have sinusitus or rhinitus and got tested for allergies and have none. Saw a vascular surgeon and my blood vessels around my body are normal. Did blood tests and everything was normal. Saw a dermatologist and the problem is not being caused by dermatitis. To give people a better idea of what i have it looks as if i have a broad nasal bridge now which is terrible because i don't.
Avatar f tn You should also be evaluated for presence of concomitant asthma for which medical therapy improves the outcome. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist for reanalysis of your case. Take care and regards.
480668 tn?1208397918 I think you would benefit from being tested for Cystic Fibrosis. My son has had multiple sinus infections, 3 surgeries and he is only 22. He is going in for a sweat chloride test this week. There have been previous discussions on this site re;CF. My son is also being tested for an immune deficiency. Even though his total IGg levels were normal, a blood test was ordered - Humoral Panel- that looked at his antibody levels. A few were low and he was immunized with pneumovax. Hib and DT.
Avatar n tn I had a few ct scan one for the sinus and one for the concusion they won't use dyes because afraid of my alergies so not sure how well they work there was nothing significant that showed up. I am alergic to alot of things and since november have been off work because of them, the headaches, and the sinus.
Avatar m tn m not on tx yet, but have had sinus problems for ever. When it gets dry an uncomfortable, I have applied some natural shea butter inside the nostrils and it has always helped. Of course it doesn't help get rid of the infection, but it greatly helps with the discomfort.
Avatar f tn Thank you for your reply. Hum.love the visual image of that one LOL! But the rest didn't sound too bad. Would love to be able to breath, and not bend over & drip on everything!
Avatar f tn I am 62 and have a history of sinus infections, sinus congestion, headaches/pressure and allergy symptoms(sneezing, itchy eyes,et.c). I also have enlarged tonsils and have had tonsilitis over the ears. I often take antibiotics for these infections and they clear. That can average at least 3 or 4 times per year.
1025806 tn?1333572690 s still important to take all of your daily sinus medications for the chronic sinus pain and allergies. Saline sinus rinses can also be helpful for some people if done daily to avoid allergy symptoms, have you done a saline sinus rinse before? I know you said you use sprays, but sometimes rinses can be helpful too. It can be a little strange rinsing out your sinuses the first time, but after a while you get used to it. Also, do you use/have you heard of the sinus prescription Nasonex?
1280354 tn?1272581901 hi i've been like that for years, but i smell garbage. It is the sinus, it could last three m onths, it is the start of not feel good for a while. keep sinus moist get some nasonex from your dr. , it get's worst you gag from the flem, you nit throw up in the morning , and lots of headackes. good luck i've been like this for 10 years spring and fall, could also so the sinus rince, or the sinus teapot. no dr.
Avatar f tn Is there anything else I can do to help with the dryness. She suggested Nasonex, which opens my sinus up and I feel like I'm drowing which they do without the medicine. Please advise. Thank you.
Avatar n tn I have also been on a regimen of Nasonex and other sorts of nasal sprays that you need a prescription for. Once again, I saw temporary relief only to have the symptoms return. This summer (and now September) of 2008 has been really bad. (I lived in Japan from July 2006 to May 2008, and for some reason I had few allergic symptoms there). I am, like ever, waking up in the middle of the night unable to breathe because my nose gets congested. I blow my nose, but nothing gets drained.
Avatar n tn After seeing a doctor i was prescribed medicine for bronchitis and nasonex. The nasonex takes care of the stuffy nose and i take claritin at nights so i dont wake up with symptoms, however i still have the cough and mucus (apparently it wasn't bronchitis). I am currently on medicine for a sinus infection. could a sinus infection be the cause of the wheezing? also i have began to develop allergy's to foods but have not been tested for dust, pollen, etc.
538745 tn?1213755988 I been having this noise in my ear..sounds like I'm holding a shell up to my ear and the ocean is there ..Plus I get echos or hear twice noise when people talking or the tv..the higher the pitch the louder it is in my left ear..I went to doc here and was told my ear was clean not red no wax etc..so he said doesn't know what it is for now..having me take nasonex a day for two week..no cold here not even a sinus headache..
