Nasonex for sinus infection

Common Questions and Answers about Nasonex for sinus infection

I started with a bloody nose maybe in middle of Feburary. I felt a little congested but not bad. By the end of Feb I broke out with the worst sinus infection in my life! I was draining everywhere. Heres how it started the day before I got sick I was eating dinner and felt as tho I got something caught in my throat. I went to the doc the following day and she said ooh its something viral. The following day I had nothing but drainage from head to ears to nose.
My asthma is pretty well controlled right now with Advair, I have been getting allergy shots for a few years, I am also on nasonex and take Claritin-D daily. I used to use a netti pot, it made me feel a little less congested but it didn't seem to prevent or get rid of the infections. For the last year I have been getting sinus infections over and over. At first antibiotics helped and my infections and they would go away for a couple months.
After thinking I was fighting a wicked cold for a week (with no improvments in symptoms and feelings) I went to the doctors and low and behold it turns out to be a sinus infection. He said he could see puss (sorry if that's gross) in my sinus area when he looked up my nose with those things docs use, like to look in your ears - anyway I have never had a sinus infection before in my entire life and I have no pain in the sinus area like everyone is telling me is supposed to happen.
Until a few months ago I came down with a full on sinus infection where the first day I had a massive migraine (have never had one before) and was vomiting. Ever since that day I haven't felt healthy but it hasn't escalated to migraine or vomiting again. I have facial, and teeth pain everyday which are obvious sinus troubles, and when the headache starts to set in I get a horrendous taste in my mouth and my nose runs uncontrollably.
a ct scan a couple weeks ago confirmed an infection in my right ethmoid sinus. throughout i've been taking nasonex, and zyrtec. on the last course of prednisone i started to feel better, but i finished that and the antibiotic on wednesday. it's saturday and i've felt like i was going to die all day. i went to the doctor this morning and they gave me an Rx for avelox, and said i should see an ENT this coming week. i'm really scared. it feels so bad.
Can this be due to stress? eye strain? or is it an upward movement of my sinus polyps/infection. I plan on seeing my doctor but it will take a few weeks, hopeful some input here can ease me...or tell me what to do about my eyes for now. theres no pain involved, and the pulses don't seem to follow my heart beat.
Has anyone had terrible neck pain while having a bad sinus infection? I have had a sinus infection since August that won't go away! I have been on very strong antibiotics and steroids. My neck pain is very bad and stops me from almost doing anything around the house. The pain is at the base of my head on the right side and radiates down to my neck and shoulder and last night down my arm. I have never had pain in my neck that has lasted so long.
My first thought was- what the heck is going on- I have this bad sinus infection , on meds for that for 20 days- it never goes away- was told to take celexa- (which I took at the same time as the anti-biotic)- and then started having attacks, tingling in my fingers and toes, and then I am being sent to a pyschologists? for anxiety or panic disorder.??? I really hope you get better and I did go to chiropractor ( I have not been in a few months though)...maybe I should go back for a visit.
Since I have a chronic, lowgrade sinus infection in one sinus above my left eye (antibiotics don't work for it), and since I have allergies now too, I need something. My doctor says that Allegra, Claritin, Zyrtec, Sudafed, and most antihistamines can cause heart arrhythmias, so the only other thing I have is saline nasal spray, and that doesn't do it? I've tried to remove allergens from my home, but it's difficult. I also have an air purifier. No luck so far.
My son was also on antibiotics and nasonex for a sinus infection. the dr thought he might also have allergies so I was also told to give him nasalcrom twice a day.. you can buy it over the counter.. he squirms around so much I have sprayed him in the eye a couple of times so I really haven't been consistent with the nasal sprays. He just stopped taking his antibiotic 2 days ago, so we'll see how it goes from here. This was his second round of antibiotics..
Hello, a month ago I saw my doctor for a cold, I had colored mucus & ran a fever & my sinus's were tender! sinus infection was the diagnosis & was given Augmentin for 10 days. I was also coughing a bit too, but the post nasal drip was really bad. After my 10 days on the antibiotic all my mucus ran clear & I was feeling better, however the cough was more prominent!
I have a condition called hypogammaglobulinenima and my IGA levels are almost non-existent. This is the part of the blood that protects the mucous linings of the lungs, sinuses and eyes. I found a very helpful piece of equipment that has reduced my sinus infections by 2/3's. Checkout and review the info about the Hydro Pulse, which is a powered waterpick for the sinuses.
Is it possible for you to have a sinus infection that just kind of stays dormant, like you dont get sick enough for meds, but still feel all the symptoms of a sinus infection? I have had sinus infections before, and since xmas there have been 2 times that ive felt like i had a sinus infection, went to the dr and they give me flonase, which doesnt help anything.
I had a cough and congestion for about 3 weeks before the doctor was able to diagnose me with a sinus infection. He gave me 875mg of Amoxicillin-twice a day for 10 days along with ZyrtecD and Mucinex. I finished the antibiotic and one of the others at the same time. Two days later, I was still coughing--post nasal drip. I had finished all the meds so I bought some more Mucinex and started that again. In another 2 days I was still had post nasal drep so I started Claritin.
My diagnosis was chronic sinusitus and I had a slight deviated septum. I had my first sinus infection 2 years ago and it never left. I had sinus surgery July 27th. After going off the post op antibiotic, the infection returned. I have been on my new antibiotic for 3 days and I don't feel like I am getting better. I am very concerned and I just wonder if my bacteria is resistant to antibiotics. I use my sinus pot twice a day and mostly have drainage, not much nasal congestion.
In September 2009, I started having problems with swallowing food (the reflex would stop working mid swallow and I would choke), migraines started happening frequently, my blood pressure would sky rocket upwards of 190/130 (normally 110/72), symptoms of Raynaud's syndrome and I was lethargic and sick. I was treated for bacterial sinus infection and bacterial kidney infection.

7 weeks post-exposure via Oraquick Advance Rapid HIV 1/2 The concern I'm having is that 4 days after my 9-week test, I came down with what I thought was a sinus infection (lots of pressure around the eyes, top and back of the head - somewhat different than previous sinus infections I've had) so my doctor prescribed me Zithromax over the phone.
i've been on antibiotics almost nonstop for a sinus infection for 2 years....been on nasonex for 10 matter what i do they just keep coming back......i don't smoke , i don't in a new house...(3 years old) filter has to be changed once a month though and can't figure out why....the filter will turn dark soon as i finish a course of antibiotics a couple days goes by and i have to go to urgent care and get more....
I went to the doctor and he gave me Amoxycillin for sinus infection which I am taking three times daily and have been for the past six days. Is there anything I can do to get better? Any home remedies? Other medications? I'm really surprised that I'm still sick with all of these symptoms after this long. Mostly it is a feeling of stopped up snotty nose, ears and a rattly hacking cough that just doesn't dislodge all the mucous. Help!
Green mucous usually means that you have an upper respiratory or sinus infection and that can certainly cause bad breath. See your doctor before it gets worse.
I have also been having stomach discomfort (whch may or may not be linked to this), bad taste in back of my mouth and trouble swallowing. I have always had sinus pressure headaches. Have been treated for sinus infections in the past. But normally I can blow my nose and it comes out that way but it does not this time, it just goes down the back of my throat. I work in an old house which was remodeled and recently we have had issues with mold due to the high humidity in the home.
Last November I had endoscopic sinus surgery to clear my sinuses and deviated seputum fixed. I was great for 7 months! Then in June I got a sinus headache and my life has not been the same. I have been to the family doctor, the ENT, allergies and now I am going to a neurologist. My symptoms are burning sensation in cheeks leading to ears and teeth. Throbbing pain in my nose (like pulse or heatbeat), constant headache, darck circles under eyes and severe post nasal drip.
For 2 mth back and fourth with family Dr , ENT , Allergy ,DR's. I had a sinus Ct done . The report findings are . Musosal thicking in several ethmoid air cells.Mild mucosal thickening in the left frontal sinus.2. left concha bullosa . Air cell in the superior medial aspect of the right maxillary sinus causing narrowing of the ostiomeatal unit .The Ct scan request was done by Allergy Dr. He suggest I make a follow up with ENT , That could take 3-4 weeks to get in .
I have had two different courses of antibiotics (Avelox, Zithromax), have tried antihistamines (Zyrtec, Astelin), corticosteroids (nasonex) and am unable to shake this. I've had a sinus CT scan that shows that, except for a slightly deviated septum and very slight fluid buildup in the maxillaries, everything is fine - the ENT said that surgery was not necessary, but the situation doesn't really seem to be resolving itself and I am set to study abroad next semester.
Otherwise, I would suggest taking him back to the doctor for a regular appointment as soon as you can get one in order to discuss the possibility of a sinus infection or pain caused by the polyp... he might need an antibiotic if he has a sinus infection or he might need steroids to shrink the polyp or even surgery to remove the polyp if it is causing the pain.
After another 6 week infection in the summer I got a second opinion which claimed my sinus' were worse and I underwent a bilateral caldwel-luc procedure (radical is to put it politely). I finally got and Baylor Internist who has carefully been observing and testing me this year.
Did you have it during tx? If not perhaps you have a sinus infection, if you did have it during tx maybe it is something that will go away with time.
got through the test just fine, and havent took a pill since then and it been about 2 weeks almost 3...... the past few days i have gotten sick, im guessing with a sinus infection, cause i cant breathe, i have crazy sinus pressure like you wouldnt believe and nothing is helping except afrin nasal spray and i know that stuff is no good for the nose. no sore throat. no coughing....its all in my sinuses, nasal drip, headache...
