Common Questions and Answers about Nasonex for asthma

nasonex

Avatar n tn s pollution or air quality - Negative blood and scratch tests for all but cats...we have none. Since October - Flovent for asthma has stopped his cough which was excercise induced - Also runny nose caused the coughing. Started on Rhinochort in October-went to Nasonex, it worked better. Tried to discontinue medications in Feb and he had immediate symptoms again - returned to it. For the most part, both medications have resolved his symptoms.
Avatar f tn My daughter takes singulair every night and still has asthma and allergies flare ups. Veramyst nasal spray works best for me and nasonex is ok. I don't know which antihistamine medicine works best, I've tried them all too and they all have a side effect,.
Avatar m tn After that we paid a visit to a private pulmonologist which did a spirometry which was better than normal and confirmed i did not have asthma. She prescribed Nasonex 2x2, Ipratropium bromide inhalation and Levocetirizine for 10 days. A follow up 10 days later, i was still coughing and she then prescribed Narivent which was so disgusting that i almost puked from it and Prospan (Hedera helix syrup). This did not help, yet again, and i was still coughing.
Avatar f tn PostScript to asthma enquiry... I am taking the Nasonex (as well as Neilmed saline nasal rinse - although less than religiously) because 3 years ago an ENT in Canada said I had based on his observations, tests (including imaging) and questions... A. Chronic sinusitis b undeveloped sinus X 1 C. Not serious nasal polyps In the 1970s a clinical ecologist determined by back substance test that I had numerous allergies and got me started on immunotherapy by giving myself thigh injections.
Avatar f tn I can however use just a steroid inhaler along with the Nasonex nose spray, it seemed to work very well for me. Should I try staying with this or try Singular. I thought I read up on Singular as causing liver issues. What do you think would be the safest way to go? Or the best? I love breathing better !!
Avatar n tn After seeing a doctor i was prescribed medicine for bronchitis and nasonex. The nasonex takes care of the stuffy nose and i take claritin at nights so i dont wake up with symptoms, however i still have the cough and mucus (apparently it wasn't bronchitis). I am currently on medicine for a sinus infection. could a sinus infection be the cause of the wheezing? also i have began to develop allergy's to foods but have not been tested for dust, pollen, etc.
Avatar f tn Hello, my husband is 45 and in over all good physical and mental health. He developed a cough that won't go away. He feels a tickle in the back of his throat and he has to cough. He coughs constantly. The only time he has relief is when he sleeps at night. He was told he has mild GERD and has tried about 4 acid reflux medicines that don't stop the cough, and he doesn't have any heartburn.. However, his vocal chords are a little inflamed.
Avatar n tn Hi, I'm leaving in Sweden since 4 years, and my asthma get worse and worse each year, because, unfortunately for me, it's sensitive to the cold and the hygrometry. Here I take everyday a lot of medicines (SINGULAIR, SERETIDE, VENTOLINE, PREDNISOLONE, NASONEX, LORATADINE), especially Cortisone so I'm largely overweight (85 kg for 165 cm). I decided to diet 3 days ago, and i choose to follow the ATKINS program, which works really great with me.
Avatar f tn HI, Advair is used for patients with asthma or COPD which it does not sound like you have. You also need a prescription for it, so I don't think it is a good idea to take it. Nasonex is prescribed for nasal symptoms related to seasonal allergies. I don't think that this will help you either. I think you should ask your doctor about the persistent cough (perhaps it is allergy related) and see what he/she suggests. Good luck.
Avatar m tn 1) I took the timing into account in my reply above. The Western blot is always positive within 2-3 months of a new HIV infection. The window period is no different at different ages. The test result proves your daughter was not infected. 2-4) There are no antibiotics other medicines, or immunizations that have any effect on HIV test timing or reliability, and I already said that none of your daughter's medications have any effect. I haven't changed my mind in the past hour!
Avatar n tn Hello my mother have ca breast in remission on femara 2.5mg now almost taken it for 5 years , asthmatic and allergic rhinitis recently she complain of sudden paroxysmal attack of vertigo ***-cited with dizziness and headache with blurred voisson only when she moves her head back the attack persists for 2 min only.
Avatar f tn My main concern is the phlegm/mucous in my throat. I take nasonex and prilosec (for suspected GERD) but nothing seems to help. ANy suggestions on what this could be or what I can do?
Avatar f tn I would suggest an allergist. It is definitely time to consider asthma as a possible root cause for your repeated bronchitis. An allergist would also be able to help treat any allergies that are causing the sinus issues that most likely lead to the the lung issues. Allergist almost always treat asthma as well since it frequently occurs with allergies. Feel better and praying that you find answers.
Avatar f tn I have never been diagnosed with asthma, but over the years told that my airways are reactive to viruses. Colds and viruses trigger a few weeks of misserable shortness of breath, wheazing etc. I tend to go through this cycle three to four times each year between October and May. I have been on prednisone, nasonex, singular, various inhallers etc etc. I would like to finally get a firm diagnosis and therapeutic approach to handling the symptoms.
Avatar f tn You should also be evaluated for presence of concomitant asthma for which medical therapy improves the outcome. I suggest you to consult ENT specialist for reanalysis of your case. Take care and regards.
Avatar n tn About 12 weeks ago I caught bronchitis, then wildfires broke out near my home that made the air unhealthy for about 2 weeks. This provoked a severe asthma attack -- for three weeks. Treatment proceeded thus: 1. 1 week Medrol plus Symbicort (60 mg). Little effect - my lung function was at 74%. 2. 10 -day course of .875 MG Augmentin with pulmicort + albuterol nebulizer treatments, and Nasonex. Some improvement -- lung function up to 81%. 3.
Avatar n tn I have undergone a chest x-ray and many tests for asthma, all of which have come back normal. However, eosinophils have been detected in my sputum. As such, I am currently taking two inhaled Corticosteroids (Nasonex and Alevsco) as well as a drug to treat GERD (Pantoloc). Unfortunately, I have not responded to any of the medication and my symptoms persist.
Avatar n tn i have had asthma for about the last 12 years (im 25 now). im taking 200 micrograms ventolin and 100 micrograms becotide per dose. im currently taking 3 sometimes 4 doses per day even though my doctor advises me i should only need 2 doses. and sometimes i require up to 400 micrograms of ventolin to get comfortable breathing back recently i acquired a severe blocked nose. my doctor advised me that this is rhinitis and gave me a steroid nasal sparay (nasonex) to use.
Avatar n tn When I read the info that went with it and looked up info on line it said something about interacting with asthma meds and meds for the urinary tract. I have asthma and take flovent and xopenex I also have interstitial cystitis so therefore I take Elmiron. I have no idea if the doctor read my list of meds or not. But I do not want to take this if there is going to be an interaction. I also take thyroid meds-- armour and have endometriosis so I will take Advil and Tylenol for the pain from endo.
Avatar m tn it is not good to be taking a corticosteroid. I asked my doctor because my fiance does take Palmicort and Sabutimol for his asthma, he said they are ok… but the nasal stuff isn’t the greatest, because it is a corticosteroid. He recommend a nasal rinse by NeilMed (not the teapot) it is fantastic!!! As long as you are faithful two times a day. Its kind of a hassle but it does work. I have sinus cysts that have formed.
Avatar f tn So then I visit my Pulmonologist that manages my Sleep Apnea and they say I should see another Pulmo Doc who manages the patients with Asthma, but I have to wait for an appointment....How do you get people to listen? I am in limbo here....So I keep taking my rescue inhaler...
Avatar f tn She does not have asthma now and is not on this anymore 3.She was on nasonex 50mcg/spray (steroid nasal spray) for a period for 7 months (but not continuous-she was on and off on it..say she used it only for 7 days in a month and for 3 weeks during pollen season ) FOr her allergy rhinities. We do not use these anymore. 4.Occasionally she has antihistamine like zyrtec. 5.She does not use any of the asthma and allergy medicated steroid spray anymore. 6.
290867 tn?1333569278 I've been on all those meds and so have my kids. ProAir - just a fast acting inhaler...I will tell you it makes you jittery and makes your heart beat faster...but it does help open airways if you are having trouble breathing. It's an inhaled steroid Flovent HFA 110 mcg - preventative inhaler. it's supposed to work for about 12 hours by keeping the airways open...this is also an inhaled steroid i believe. I've never had any side effects from this one, neither have my kids.
Avatar f tn Thank You for your information. I have had all of the appropriate testing done to find out the cause of this mucus problem. I have had a ph probe to check for gerd and that was negative done at Uof Mich teaching hospital. Bronchiastasis (sp?) was also ruled out at same hospital by bronchosopy. The general consensus is that the sinusitis is the main culprit for the excessive mucus. ENT's just have nothing to add other than they don't know why I have this problem.
216239 tn?1233257361 I had a cold a couple months ago and the doctor prescribed nasonex (nasal spray)...it's also good for allergies, really helped with the congestion..
Avatar m tn And prescribed me Albuterol for my asthma, an antihestimine for my allergies and nasonex for my sinuses and sed that that the combination should clear up my sinus problems and hopefully alleviate my headaches. But as a precautionary step She ran blood test for HIV/AIDS HEP A/B/C a liver panal kidney panal and a thyroid panal and white blood cell count she also checked my blood suger. All test apparently came back normal.
Avatar n tn Is it dust that bothers you? For me when i dust it helps if I use that swiffer duster, because it grabs the dust and holds on to it instead of keeping it flying around in the air, and i also make sure to dust every week so there's less of it. Maybe using a little mask while dusting would help? Also try googling "watercure" and "asthma" online...
Avatar f tn My 1 year old has had a runny nose for almost 5 months now. He has always been a little snorty/congested, but when he got a mild case of RSV in February the runny nose never seemed to go away. I have taken him to several allergists. He did have the skin test which came back negative. One doc. said he needed to be treated for nasal infections (each test seemed to show a different bacteria) but after several rounds of different antibiotics I didn't feel comfortable and left that doc.
