This summer (and now September) of 2008 has been really bad. (I lived in Japan from July 2006 to May 2008, and for some reason I had few allergic symptoms there). I am, like ever, waking up in the middle of the night unable to breathe because my nose gets congested. I blow my nose, but nothing gets drained.
This explains your jaw pain, dizziness and sinus pressure although you may also have an infection and I hope this has been ruled out. Your depression and anxiety may be stemming from all of this or since you've suffered with depression before...this may have triggered it again. I would address the sinus issue and see if you feel better and if not you may want to talk to someone about your anxiety and depression. Get a second opinion of the nasal teeth and go from there.
After seeing a doctor i was prescribed medicine for bronchitis and nasonex. The nasonex takes care of the stuffy nose and i take claritin at nights so i dont wake up with symptoms, however i still have the cough and mucus (apparently it wasn't bronchitis). I am currently on medicine for a sinus infection.

also i have began to develop allergy's to foods but have not been tested for dust, pollen, etc.
I just started using Nasonex (steroid nasal spray), and it really helps my allergies and sinus headache, and eye-related sinus problems. But I also have PVCs and my heart pounds a lot (can feel it in my head, back, etc). I'm wondering whether Nasonex is safe to take long term if I have these heart issues. Doctor just shrugged his shoulders when I asked. Anyone know?
A cat scan showed fluid in maxillary sinuses and some ethnoid sinusitus but my ENT surgeon shows no infection and is now considering a tubinate "snip" as he calls it to because my left turbinate is a bit large. I am going for a 2nd opinion and have to a neurologist also. Is there anyone out there who can relate? This has completely changed my life. I have a family a job & responsibilities and some days I just sob from discomfort and frustration.
Antibiotics sometimes don't work for sinus infections, because sinus infections differ than other types of infections, and anyway, soon, a large swath of bacteria strains will be antibiotic-resistant.

You most likely have a sinus infection that blocks the path to your olfactories. I used to lose my smell when i had chronic sinus problems. In fact, it made me desperate enough to try the technique which became ultimately successful in curing all of my sinus problems forever. Solutions:
Go to ENT, get antibiotics, see if that works
or, get a Neilmed Sinus Rinse at the drugstore, which has a better chance of working
or, go to my journal and try a Flip Turn Sinus Flush.
I've had such a tough time with sinus headaches, allergies (watery eyes, plugged ears and tinnitus) and fatigue that I finally went to an ear-nost-throat doctor last week. He put me on Nasonex, a steroid nasal spray, to reduce the inflammation. I also hear my heartbeat in my ear at times, and he's hoping that a month on Nasonex will stop that. If not, he'll do a CT scan and other work to see what's going on.
I have been suffering for four weeks now with post nasal congestion and post nasal drip. I first went to the doctors and was diagnosed with sinus infection and was given antibiotics for 5 days. It got better but gave me a UTI and stomach cramps then when antibiotics were done the congestion and drip was back with the UTI. I was then given 10 days of antibiotics for sinus infection and another antibiotic for UTI. The UTI got better but the congestion stayed.
THIS HAS BEEN A LAST RESORT AFTER GOING THROUGH ALL OF THE DOCTORS AND,SINUS SERGERY AND PRESCRIPTION DRUGS TO TRY AND HELP REMODAY THE PROBLEM.....
..the nasonex says it takes up to two weeks to work..In the past i have only used it a few nights..it never helped..These past couple of weeks to help woard off the rebound during the afternoon and evening hrs of the AFRIN,AFRIN, i started using a natural remoday called NASAL BUSTER....have u ever heard of it..(www.nasalbuster.com).
The last few episodes progressed from scratchy throat to full blown ear/sinus infection and bronchitis in 3 days. The usual treatment plan is antibiotics, inhaler (with steroids), nasal spray (like Nasonex). I have been continuing the inhaler and nasal spray between episodes as well.
The sinus/chest x-rays have come back with nothing that the doctor was concerned about. I like my doctor, but I think it's time for another opinion or a specialist. I'm not even sure where to start. ENT?
t whether I should Just keep doing the Nasonex and nothing else and wait n see? or if I should take some Sudafed and see what that does. Im not usually a person that takes medicines a lot I usually just like to work out and exercise a lot and let my body take care of it. But I never had tinnitus for 2 months before haha...but I'm just wondering what would be the better alternative do you think?

I think you should call the doctor's office tomorrow and ask them to clarify the diagnosis. You may have a sinus infection in which case the antibiotics are needed. Deviated septums can keep the sinuses from draining properly which frequently leads to infections.
I certainly understand your hesitancy to take antibiotics. It can lead to problems with resistant bacteria. Antibiotics can also cause digestive problems.

In May, I went to the doctor - he said I had a ton of fluid behind my ears and he thought it was being caused by a sinus infection. He prescribed antibiotics (Z-Pak) and Nasonex. At the time I was having some congestion, ear pain/ache at random times and when I would chew/open my mouth. After taking the antibiotics for a couple days I could feel a ton of fluid sloshing back in my ears when I would move my head side to side.
Going to see an ENT next Friday - had previous sinus surgery and sustained sinus infections over the years.
About 6 months ago, I had another one, but soon after developed a constant need to burp, or the need to clear my throat.
Sinus has been treated with Augmentin, 5 courses, plus use of nasonex. Scans revealed polyps and mucosal thickening as well.
think I must be going crazy. After having throat/ear issues for over a month, I went to the doctor 10 days ago. He said I had a ton of fluid behind my ears and there was inflammation. He also said that my right ear drum looked really dull. He thinks my issues are being caused by a sinus infection. I've been taking Nasonex and antibiotics for 11 days and am still having problems. Here is where I think it gets weird. My ear bothers me when I go outside even for just a few minutes.
i started having similiar very dry sinus/nose after about 10 weeks
a humidifier has helped a lot-i just keep it in bedroom where i 'zen-out' a couple times a day.
also i apply lotion in nostrils to keep hydrated.
just went to doc. and he stopped me from all decongestents (like sudafed) and perscribed nasonex- i hope that helps also-
oh he also said to keep using the 'netti-pot' (run salt solution thru sinus while in shower).
HAD BURNING IN MY EARS AND DR TOLD ME I HAD A BLOCKED EAR CANAL FROM SINUS IN THE ONE EAR AND THRUSH IN THE OTHER EAR AND PRESCRIBED KENACOMB OPTIC AFTER 2 DAYS I HAVE THE SAME MUFFLED SOUND IN MY RIGHT EAR AND ITS GETTING WORSE AND BOTH MY EARS ARE IN PAIN. GOT GIVEN NASONEX NASAL SPRAY TO CAUSE APPARENTLY I HAVE A Sinus abnormality anc sinus infection. I live in the outback so have no access to a ear specialist. Please help.
