Common Questions and Answers about Narcolepsy in singapore is it an elusive disease

narcolepsy

Avatar n tn 130lbs for 173cm tall. My problem is control of the blood sugar, in an environment that is not very condusive for a diabetic. (having 5 other family members who eat everything). I would like to know...if there is a way to control urges. With yoga I've learnt clarity...but I cant seem to achieve control of urges. I can't EVER resist chocolates...ever. It scares me to know that in a few years...I will want children, and I know FULLY well if I dont maintain control continuously now...
Avatar f tn There is some experimentation going on in both Singapore and China involving treatment of Parkinson's with stem cells. To date there has been one document successful outcome. Look up the Singapore research. At one time they had a physician at Harvard Medical School who was the point of contact for the experimental protocol.
Avatar f tn I am assuming you had an overnight sleep test along with an MSLT nap test to receive this narcolepsy diagnosis. Did you have any other sleep disorders show up? Do you have episodes of cataplexy? My sleep doctor is one who (in general) doesn't entertain a diagnosis of narcolepsy until any other sleep disorders are therapeutically treated, as long term sleep disorders can mimic narcolepsy in some respects.
Avatar f tn I can sleep at amytime for brief periods but when I am sleepy I can usually control forced staying awake. Is it possible to have narcolepsy without that symptom. Or am I under a misconception about that? Thankyou very much for your time and concern!
504535 tn?1210527032 And my shoulders always hurt during these episodes. I have had many tests performed, including CT scans. Is pancreatitis elusive? Could it be evading tests?
Avatar f tn s really a terrible thing to be diagnosed with this, since there really is no cure for it, so I really hope you find out it is something else that can be easily treated instead of narcolepsy!
4592241 tn?1359813138 I don't know anything about narcolepsy medication. But I'd feel free about discussing addiction with your doctor if I were you. Addiction isn't a bad thing we do or did, it's a treatable disease like any other disease that we have. As long as you're on the recovery side you're fine. Is narcolepsy medication mind altering? Could it lead you back to your drug of choice, that you've been recovering from, and you went through hell and back to get off of?
Avatar m tn been having problems with suddenly not being able to keep my eyes open. I can nap for say 10 minutes and be fine. Hit me in my car coming home from work in traffic. Almost caused an accident. After it got real close to an accident, my adrenaline woke me up. It literally came out of no where. never, ever happened before. I am not that over weight and I am on a very healthy diet. I don't think it is sleep apnea, since it is not every day.
4268628 tn?1375041176 30 my cat wakes me up cuz she wants her breakfast (wet food) which is fine during the week cuz i dont need an alarm clock for work lol....
Avatar f tn I have an auto immune disease, fibromyalgia, and hypothyroidism which can affect my pregnancy. I am being seen by a high-risk specialist team to help monitor me and my baby. Are you being seen by high risk prenatal doctors?
Avatar f tn Do you know if it is fairly common to have both conditions of epilepsy and narcolepsy for an individual? It seems to go hand in hand on these postings. We have changed is meds several times since August and his levels are showing to be fine, at this point. The 24 EEG should be a good test to help clarify his condition. I would also like to get a sleep study done, as you mentioned. I hope we can get this under control before the nice weather gets here.
Avatar n tn It sounds like you have narcolepsy. I myself have it and your story sounds very close to my experience with narcolepsy. It can get dangerous, for example, if you're driving (it's happened to me!). The vivid dreams is a symptom of narcolepsy. Do you ever feel like you're half awake but you can't open your eyes? What other symptoms are you having besides being unrested? I would definitely consult your physician or a sleep lab. Good luck.

Avatar n tn Hello Aki: Oral sex is no more harmful than kissing--or any other sexual activity. In fact, it's quite a common behavior, and many people greatly enjoy it. Everyone seems to worry about being "normal." In fact, we're all normal, and whatever is usual for you is “normal” for you.
Avatar f tn Also I asked for digital rectal exam but still clueless. Plz help me out in knowing where I can ask for these test in India or in other country like singapore. Thankyou.
500453 tn?1210676097 Your fatigue issues could have many possible causes - vitamin or hormone deficiencies, sleep disorders, stress, disease, etc. It is a common symptom for so many diseases. The best thing to do is to talk with your doctor about your fatigue. First, he can prescribe something to help with the fatigue while he determines a cause. Secondly, he can run all sorts of tests to rule out the most obvious things.
Avatar m tn I don't think most people know much about it that is why. I worked with someone that had it and I worked in the medical field so I'm more familiar with it. I'm sorry if you have it. I don't know why it isn't more understood or in the pubic eye so to speak if that many people have it.
Avatar n tn In general, kidney disease (causing excess protein in urine), cardiopulmonary disease (breathlessness is common presentation), increased size of liver, pain in the hand and wrist, unexplained diarrhoea, fatigue, memory loss and other symptoms are seen.
Avatar f tn For several years now I have been suffering from abdominal pain on my right side as well as acid reflux, nauseau, vomitting, constipation and diarhea. Since 2001 I have had several surgeries to try and fix the problem. They include: having my gall bladder removed, two surgeries for endometriosis, a total hysterectomy and my appendix removed. The doctors that I see have done several tests including a pill cam, several ct's, xrays and blood work.
387660 tn?1242596742 This could be related to narcolepsy. Essentially narcolepsy is a defect of the control of REM (Rapid Eye Movement) sleep so that it may occur when you are half-awake. I have seen strange fuzzy-focus scenes. I am self-diagnosed with Celiac 3 months ago but doing immensely better on a gluten free diet. Unfortunately my sleep issues are worse: no more cramping, but more strange awakenings, sleep paralysis, and nonrestorative sleep. All of this suggests that I may have narcolepsy.
1764925 tn?1682604632 There is more of REM sleep in your nighttime sleep study; hence the doctors have tried to rule out narcolepsy, which causes excessive sleepiness. Narcolepsy is characterized by excessive day time sleepiness, sleep paralysis, cataplexy where the person has episodes of loss of muscle function while awake, hypnogogic hallucinations and automatic behavior.
