20003388 tn?1515166040 I'm just curious if anyone has been on Namenda and could tell me how long the initial brain fog lasted for you? I just started Namenda yesterday, 5 mg a day for 1 week then 10 mg a day in divided doses. I have memory issues and severe cognitive impairment. I was put on Namenda by a neurologist after a thorough examination. I expect the brain fog from starting Namenda up but am just trying to get a time frame for when I could expect the initial brain fog to wear off. Thanks everyone.
Avatar n tn my husband just started on Namenda, starter doses, however, while I was at work today, he took 3 of the pills(5mg), should I be concerned? do I just have him continue tomorrow with the correct one pill in the morning? doesn''t seem to have any side effects.

Avatar f tn I, like many of you, take handfuls of drugs just to live thru the day and suffer side effects from the drugs is just as debilitating as the pain. My doctor allowed me to try Namenda, which is a alzheimer drug that works by calming overactive neurons in the brain. There has been studies to see if it helped chronic pain and most of them showed it did not. I wanted to try it for myself and she allowed me too. My shrink also thought it was a good idea to try.
Avatar f tn I am currently on Seroquel XR and wish I could get off. Remember, everyone is different and my problems may not happen with you. Long and short is that I don't trust the psych dr that prescribed in to me and so I'm trying to start over. I thought I would wean myself off and started to do so by taking one pill every other day instead of every day. I beginning to think thats not such a great idea.
Avatar m tn Now that Symfony is FDA approved, is there any information about when it will actually become available for U.S. patients? For me, the question isn't just academic. I'm scheduled for measurements Aug. 1, then eye one a week later, and eye 2 about a week after that. On my last visit, a week ago, just days before the FDA announcement, I discussed Symfony in passing with my ophthalmologist. The conversation went something like this: "Sounds like great option.
585414 tn?1288941302 Yes I am somewhat familiar with that. For example Namenda which is used to treat dementia is in clinical study as a mood stabilizer and to treat tardive dyskinesia. However as those medications specifically effect those receptors by mitigating their activity they work in an opposite manner to glycine and the NMDA receptor modulates.

645800 tn?1466860955 Have you ever had a neuropsychological evaluation? I've had two of them now and they put me on Namenda XR. It's typically given to patients with Alzheimers. I feel like it has helped me some. MS along with my PTSD doesn't help with my memory, cognitive, focus, attention, etc. Some of the things on the test, I'm listed as "severely impaired".
Avatar n tn Ahh Pristiq, The new SSNRI. Actualy just a slight tweek on Effexor XR. Interesting fact about Pristiq..... Wyeth's newest Antidepressant medication Pristiq, is actually kind of a sister drug of Effexor XR. In fact in terms of the active ingrediants molecular structure they are about 98% the same. You know why the Drug Company Wyeth would produce a drug so much like Effexor XR?
Avatar f tn Strattera, Adderall XR, Vyvanse, and Daytrana are medications I have taken, my brother takes Concerta. Vyvanse and Adderall XR are the only meds I can take. I have a real sensitive stomach and immune system, and am allergic to a lot so I would think that you can handle most of these.
Avatar n tn Let me clairify. Venlafaxine is the exact same active chemical that is in Effexor XR. The difference is (and this is a huge difference when were talking Venlafaxine) that Effexor XR is an extended release formula. This is where the "XR" terminology comes from. Meaning Extended Release. The Generic Venlafaxine has no Extended release properties to it such as Effexor XR.

Avatar f tn I then took Effexor and later ther Effexor XR. Effexor XR allowed me to live a reasonably normal life raising a child and having a career. For at least 3 years my depression has slowly gotten progressively worse. My counselor and I believe it is time to add an additional medication, possibly welbutrin or change to a different antidepressant. Currently I take 300mg of effexor XR. This is the same level I have taken for the entire time I've used effexor. I would like input and advice.
