Avatar m tn SUBOXONE--- HAS anyone that has been on Suboxone ever had the side effect of uncontrollable ITCHING? Scratch till your raw? Or any other side effects that make life more difficult? I was on Suboxone for two years, off for 3 months with opiates, and now on again for a month. The itching started small after a few weeks on Sub But now I scratch everywhere there is hair and just below my knees , my back arms, and high on my butt.
Avatar n tn I live in california. there is no rash just itching all over not constantly, enough to annoy the heck out of me?? I take about 12-16 mg daily. I wasn't a heavy drug user to start with . I am concerned why I itch! What should I do? thank you.
558096 tn?1255887002 naloxone, unfortunately for suboxone wd pr amy opiate/opioid wd will not aid in easing the pain or physical aspect, it will help a littloe with the cravings for opiates..the biggest advantage with naloxone is that it will block any opiate/opioid no matter what the potency from having any effects for quite a long time especially if you take it for a while. congrats on day 9, what doose of suboxone were you last on? and for how long total were you on sub?
Avatar m tn Precipitated withdrawals will come if either Subutex or Suboxone is taken. A common misconception is that the knocking off of the original opiate is done by the Naloxone, but in fact is caused by the Bupe. The Naloxone is only active if taken by an IV route. If taken sublingually as directed, the Naloxone doesn't factor into the equation at all.
Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar f tn and when they crush it and inject it...they will never do it again...it will activate the naloxone in it and make them soooo sick... QUOTE: "The naloxone in SUBOXONE is there to discourage people from dissolving the tablet and injecting it. When SUBOXONE is placed under the tongue, as directed, very little naloxone reaches the bloodstream, so what the patient feels are the effects of the buprenorphine.
Avatar f tn Suboxone is the brand name for a medication consisting of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is a thebaine derivative with powerful analgesia approximately 20-40x more potent than morphine. Buprenorphine is a partial agonist and antagonist of the opioid receptors in the central nervous system which means that when its molecule binds to a receptor, it will transduce only a partial response in contrast to a full agonist such as morphine.
466909 tn?1207568232 In the case of a Morphine overdose, where a hospital is concerned that the high dose of Morphine may be dangerous (depressing breathing and heartrate), they may administer Naloxone (an opiate antagonist). The Naloxone finds its way to your opiate receptors and "competes" with Morphine for binding of the receptors. Because Naloxone has a higher affinity for the receptors than Morphine, the Naloxone will generally win out, replacing much of the Morphine at the receptor sites.
Avatar f tn I've seen some people do this but I'm not sure why?
Avatar n tn The naloxone in the mix is only placed as a deterrant to misuse. When taken orally as prescribed, naloxone has a horrible bioavailability and is virtually nonexistant... Subutex will yield the same results with regards to the opiate blockade properties.
Avatar m tn i am allergic to naloxone (the opiate blocker in suboxone). i dont wanna get on methadone cuz the addiction gets serious. is there any thing like suboxone with the naloxone in it?

Avatar f tn If taken sublingual, the naloxone is inert, it doesn't enter the blood stream at all. Have you had this problem the whole time, it may be that your body doesn't tolerate buprenorphine.
558096 tn?1255887002 I am hoping to be completely off sub within a week. However, my psych Dr wants to put me on Naloxone for 6 months after that to ensure I don't have a relapse. It basically blocks the high I would get if I took any vicodin like the suboxone does. I really don't know if I even want to go on this, just b/c it's ONE MORE MED to be on. Does anyone know anything about this medicine? Or side effects?
Avatar m tn Suboxone is made up of 2 chemicals buprenorphine (opiate) and naloxone (opiate blocker). The reason you get hooked on suboxone and withdraw from it is because it's a narcotic and has opiates. Vivitrol is only naloxone so it's just a opiate blocker. No narcotics, no addiction, and no withdraws. Suppose to be awesome and takes away cravings and help the brain and receptors recover at a faster rate. I just got it today and we will see how it goes!!!
Avatar n tn Suboxone is a medication that contains buprenorphine and Naloxone. The naloxone is added to the buprenorphine to lessen the odds that a user will abuse the medication. Because Naloxone can sometimes cause symptoms of opiate withdrawal, pregnant women wanting to take buprenorphine are normally advised to take Subutex instead. Subutex is exactly the same as Suboxone, but it contains no Naloxone, only buprenorphine.
Avatar m tn suboxone has naloxone in it..and subutex does not...this makes it to where u can not shoot up suboxone due to the naloxone/which is a narcotic reversal agent used in the hospital setting for an overdose/but subutex can be used IV....course that would negate the goals of being on subutex in the first place...It is a known fact that a side effect of suboxone is a headache and that is often the naloxone that causes it...neither one tastes fantastic tho...
Avatar m tn I do get the occasional sub headaches and someone suggested it may be from the naloxone, although the naloxone is supposedly not absorbed when taken sublingually. Im not a risk at this point to abuse sub or any other opiate, Im totally motivated in getting clean and sober and just getting my life back all together. So Ive been wondering if theres a benefit of taking subutex vs.
Avatar f tn You do not have to wait with subutex as it does not have the naloxone in it like the suboxone. The naloxone in suboxone is what can throw you into precipitated withdrawals. Go ahead and start it..... best of luck to you..
Avatar m tn Treatments for CIP do not always work however in some cases Naloxone may be used as a treatment. Naloxone is a chemical that acts within the nervous system of the body by blocking the nervous system from causing the inactions that occur within the group of cells that receives the message to initiate the sensation of pain, heat, or cold. Please consult a neurologist to discuss the treatment option . Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
Avatar m tn Certain extrahepatic (outside the liver) conditions associated with HCV, such as autoimmune conditions, may also lead to itching. More commonly, itching due to dry skin can be a side effect of HCV treatment; this is not the same as pruritus due to advanced liver damage. Pruritus symptoms can range from annoying mild itching to severe itching that interferes with daily life. Often the itching is worse at night, and may prevent sleep. Simple scratching typically does not relieve pruritus.
Avatar f tn Actually, the naloxone in suboxone is innert when taken properly. It does absolutely nothing. When taken properly, the buprenorphine has a higher affinity than the naloxone, and occupies all the opiate receptors. The Naloxone is metabolized and secreted out of the body-wasted.
Avatar n tn Buprenorphine has a much higher binding affinity for the mu(opiate) receptor than naloxone. A person who has been on Suboxone can shoot/snort as much as they want and the naloxone will have no effect at all because of that. Hell you can read that on Wikipedia of all places. The reason the pharm company (RB) put naloxone in Subs was to lengthen their patent on it. Notice there are generics for Subutex but no generics for Suboxone???? Oh and then RB put out the Suboxone film strips....
Avatar m tn ve read Dexamethasone or Naloxone counteract Tramadol. Please suggest what to do. I cant see a doc personally untill monday noon. I can live with the itch and hives but the cough and breathing issue is making my life hell..
