Avatar f tn TALWIN® Nx contains pentazocine hydrochloride, USP, equivalent to 50 mg base and is a member of the benzazocine series (also known as the benzomorphan series), and Naloxone hydrochloride, USP, equivalent to 0.5 mg base. TALWIN® Nx is an analgesic for oral administran Did this come fro the doctor?
Avatar f tn Yes it is habit forming. Why do you ask?
Avatar m tn It is..Naloxone-Pentazocine,wat/green/50mg... It says special narcotic drug used for pain. With a special ingredient to prevent misuse..WTF .. we as addicts can misuse anything.. sonirn please let us know the amount and other info about your use..welcome to our community..There is a lot of help here for u..
537731 tn?1268265286 However Talwin NX has Naloxone included in this combination to prevent the misuse of the narcotic ingredient. Naloxone and pentazocine may also be used for other purposes. You should discuss this with your physician and pharmacist. I am surprised that the pharmacist did not question why this was ordered with the percocet. But there are no physicians here nor experts and you should follow the advice of your physican after you have clarified this prescription order.
Avatar m tn Hi..EvolverU is out for awhile..Just hang tight she will be back...Mean while go on the Web and look up Treatment Centers there in your town or around your area..OK..You can keep checking this post too...
Avatar f tn to be able to take it otherwise like stated above the naloxone will kick off the opioids on your receptors and put you into precipitated WDs. And believe me those are not fun at all. As far as its strength as an analgesic it is pretty just a little weaker than hydrocodone and has side effects that act more like morphine, such as hallucinations or psychotomimetic effects on the body. It says that .
Avatar m tn ve been injecting fortwin from past 1 and half month bout 5 6 ml daily I want to quit can I leave all of a sudden and if I do do I have chances of gettin fits or seizures and what are the withdrawals that I will face
Avatar n tn I am trying to get off of hydrocodine pills for headaches. I have gotten a little too used to taking them I think and I don't want to go down that road. A friend suggested Pentazocine. I have never heard of it? Can someone explain. I am sure I will see a doctor, but before I made an appointment, I was just curious.
1191546 tn?1264700552 Hello Bonon, Welcome to the Pain Mangement Forum of MedHelp. I am glad that you have found us and took the time to post. Talwin (correct spelling) is a very old medication. It contains pentazocine and naloxone hydrochlorides. I found this, "Talwin is a potent analgesic and 30 mg is usually as effective an analgesic as morphine 10 mg or meperidine 75 mg to 100 mg; however, a few studies suggest the Talwin to morphine ratio may range from 20 mg to 40 mg Talwin to 10 mg morphine.
Avatar m tn Dear Dr. Julia M Aharonov, DO i have written you 2-3 questions regarding addiction of pentazocine(IM) and i get very good answers and in todays time it is very very useful & from one of the best doctors of the world.
Avatar m tn A partial µ-opioid receptor agonist, its mixed agonist/antagonist activity affords it a lower risk of dependence and abuse than full µ agonists like morphine. Meptazinol exhibits not only a short onset of action, but also a shorter duration of action relative to other opioids such as morphine, pentazocine, or buprenorphine.
Avatar m tn i am not that familuar with fortwin. i just know its a pain med and should be tapered, it was given to my aunt for kidney stone pain, i think you should check with a dr. best wishes.
466909 tn?1207568232 In the case of a Morphine overdose, where a hospital is concerned that the high dose of Morphine may be dangerous (depressing breathing and heartrate), they may administer Naloxone (an opiate antagonist). The Naloxone finds its way to your opiate receptors and "competes" with Morphine for binding of the receptors. Because Naloxone has a higher affinity for the receptors than Morphine, the Naloxone will generally win out, replacing much of the Morphine at the receptor sites.
Avatar m tn but once upon a time i was suffering from pain and i took pentazocine for neck pain i have used this drug many times to get rid of pain but i was not aware that it becomes a habit forming and it will lead to dangerous point.it was by mistake happen otherwise i do not have any medical requirement at this age.i do have a knowledge of computer and i contacted u and u reply such a beautiful advice. it is hard to quit but definitely it is a useful advice for addiction.
Avatar f tn If there is a substitute a Dr will not give a woman Suboxone when they could take Subutex and not have to ingest the naloxone .Naloxone can cause a pregnant woman to not produce the necessary hormones needed for the pregnancy. You have every right to be worried about the baby because she is lying. I guarantee her Dr's no nothing of the suboxone..Because if the OB is educated he would switch her to subutex. Her story is very fishy. Good Luck.
558096 tn?1255887002 s the drug mixed in with Bupe to make Suboxone. That way, if a Sub user crushes the tablet and injects it, the naloxone with bind with the receptors and make the person either fairly sick, or the Sub opiate affect will have NO effect at all. I think you may be thinking about naltrexone. Naltexone is a longer acting version of naloxone and is used in the long term care of opiate addicts. It's even implanted under the skin in some people.
Avatar f tn It does absolutely nothing. When taken properly, the buprenorphine has a higher affinity than the naloxone, and occupies all the opiate receptors. The Naloxone is metabolized and secreted out of the body-wasted. The Buprenorphine (working ingredient) in suboxone is a strong bonding opiate antagonist which prevents other agonist opiates from bonding to receptors, preventing a person from getting high if they try take something to get high while on suboxone.
Avatar m tn Precipitated withdrawals will come if either Subutex or Suboxone is taken. A common misconception is that the knocking off of the original opiate is done by the Naloxone, but in fact is caused by the Bupe. The Naloxone is only active if taken by an IV route. If taken sublingually as directed, the Naloxone doesn't factor into the equation at all.
Avatar f tn I tried fentanyl patch but was very scared of the strength so stopped and wont go back there. How does talwin show on a urine drug test and how effective is it really. Also on tramadol er with my norco.
Avatar m tn When Im coming down off it it fells like Im going to throw up and dizzy as hell but Im straving! So I eat and then I throw up! So I take my next dose and Im better! Just not liking the side affects! Can anyone tell me what the differace is?? Cause if the Subutex wont do this I want to request to swicth! Please anyone give me info????????
Avatar f tn I am tapering off subs, (on my own ,w/o a Dr) I have severe pain recently and need to take percocet. I took 2 5mg ones yesterday, I ws surprised they even worked. I'm on .43mg of subs a day. My question is, should I keep taking the subs? The percocet was prescribed, I really am in pain.
Avatar n tn You can try asking a physician to prescribe you some Requip for restless legs, Neurontin for overall distress, Clonidine for blood pressure and general anxiety control and maybe get some over the counter Valerian for sleep and sedation and chelated magnesium for muscle relaxation. But, seriously, you must be completely committed to the goal of quitting. I have written a blog that has rather detailed information about options for detox.
Avatar m tn my dad has been addicted to fortwin(pentazocine lactate) for the past 30 years. he got admitted in the rehabilitation center 3 times n he started using it again.now he cant go get admitted in a rehabilitation center again due to some personal problems. he has lost weight n his condition is so pathetic now. he wants to quit but he has no control over it.he needs the drug for his normal routine.if somebody can give me a solution for him to quit, please let me know...
Avatar n tn s together and be fine, for that matter you can take methadone and heroin and be fine. Is Tramadol supposded to be like Naloxone?
Avatar n tn Suboxone contains a combination of buprenorphine and naloxone. Buprenorphine is an opioid medication. Buprenorphine is similar to other opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin however, it produces less euphoric ("high") effects and therefore may be easier to stop taking. Naloxone blocks the effects of opioids such as morphine, codeine, and heroin.
Avatar f tn It should not be confused with naloxone, which is used in emergency cases of overdose rather than for longer-term dependence control Naloxone is a drug used to counter the effects of opioid overdose, for example heroin or morphine overdose. Naloxone is specifically used to counteract life-threatening depression of the central nervous system and respiratory system.
