It appears as though both of my big toes have a new nail growing in underneath the old nail. The old Nail is raised up quite a bit compared to the new growth, which is about 1/4". I also can see a line on both nails that appears to be where the new nail is at, and that is about 75% to the end of my toe.
The new nail looks totally fine.
I'm 25 years old.
None of my other toenails are affected.
No pain or other symptoms of any kind.
I've been treating my toenail fungus, but as I treat it… it's getting white and really dry, it has lines on the toe nails too. Is that because of the medication I'm putting on my toenails?
Presuming it is actually a fungus, there is a problem because it is under the nail. Outside, on the skin for instance, you would just use Vick's-Vapo-Rub (believe it or not). Getting under the nail is a problem. There are systemic anti-fungals, but my husband did not have much luck with that. He kept painting the nails and pushing stuff under (as far as he could). I think it is pretty well gone now, but it took a long, long time.
The problem is that I think I have a nail fungus on the majority of my toenails. My toenails have turned white on the corners. They just look different to me. So I wonder what caused it and the only thing I can attribute it to is the nail polish I used all summer. So now I am too scared to paint my fingernails because I don't want it to happen to my fingernails! I have been using Vick's Vaporub and vinegar. From everything I have read, a cure for nail fungus is pretty much impossible...
recently took terbinafine which seemed to help some in eliminating the some of the skin folds and white mark scars. although i think it is more geared toward nail fungus than skin.

I went to the doctor and was told I had nail fungus and needed Lamisil. One tablet, once a day for 3 months. They took and ran tests of my blood to test my liver and they said all tests came back normal. They went ahead and said to begin taking the medication. I'm 21 and relatively healthy. I'm afraid to take Lamisil though. I've heard the side effects are horrible. Should I be worried?
I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment.

I have this issue surrounding my toenail, underneath the nail there is a hard white substance that looks kinda dustyish, I can’t really describe the look that much more. It looks like the buildup of something. Anyways, the nail is also lifted a lot higher than any of my other nails, it’s shaped kind of like a cave with all the buildup under it. Whenever I touch it I get pain and it’s also deformed in size and it’s moving to the left.
It could be an ingrown toenail, sometimes when that happens you can have yellow or white stuff coming out from where the nail pierces the skin. It can be very painful until you trim your nail. Check with your mom and have her take a look at it, either she can try to fix it or maybe get her to take you to the doctors to have a look.
Follow the directions on the tube. For the nail fungus, get pure tea tree oil and put that on your nail every day, twice a day if possible, but at least once a day. It will take months and it smells pretty much like turpentine, but it won't hurt you. There are oral antifungals, but they have the potential to harm your liver. You can take oral odorless garlic and a probiotic or prebiotic to get your system cleaned up. Avoid eating sugar to get your flora healthy again.
When I became pregnant almost 3 years ago I developed a nail fungus which I could not treat as I was pregnant. I left it and did nothing about it. After my baby was born nail got worse , and other sytoms emerged like irregular period ,bad breath , skin problems , skin ichy , tiredness , lack of breath. I struggled with nail fungus for 2 years it was getting worse and better. I am also very sensitive to certain food. I cannot treat the nail fungus with medication as I am breastfeeding my baby.
ago, his nails became white and then started to lift off his nail bed. Now that all of his nails have completely fallen off, the nail bed is puffy, dry and when the nail trys to grow back, it splits off the bed because of the puffiness. He's gone and recieved a biopsy, it came back NOT a fungus. He has also recieved an STD test and that came back negitive as well.

I just took my BLUE nail polish off and my nails are orange? Wtf lol I don't smoke and it won't come off with nail polish remover. Did blue polish really stain my nails orange or is there something else going on?
