Avatar n tn i noticed they can do laser treatment that kills the fungus and depending on how bad it is you might need to go twice...also the home remedy of white vinegar 50% vinegar and 50% water...soak 3 times a day has helped people.. also drinking 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar in a cup of water helps fight it from the inside out... so i have heard... it doesn't hurt to give it a try but you have to be consistant and it takes a couple of weeks to notice it so don't get discuraged...
Avatar m tn You can also use neem soap and soak in apple cider vinegar now and then to assist in clearing it but the tea tree oil cleared my nails. Yes, you have to continue it for 3-6 months, but it works. Carefully trim any loose nail portions off as they grow, including any spots with nail separation. Cutting off the loose nail and then doing the oil is key to curing this.
Avatar n tn Presuming it is actually a fungus, there is a problem because it is under the nail. Outside, on the skin for instance, you would just use Vick's-Vapo-Rub (believe it or not). Getting under the nail is a problem. There are systemic anti-fungals, but my husband did not have much luck with that. He kept painting the nails and pushing stuff under (as far as he could). I think it is pretty well gone now, but it took a long, long time.
Avatar m tn I talked to someone who is a nurse and they indicated it appears to be some type of fungus and to soak it twice daily in apple cider vinegar for at least a month and/or until it goes away. I have included a link to take a look and any advice would be appreciated as my next step is our family doctor. https://pix.sfly.
483814 tn?1214311480 It took 10 months but when the old infected nail was gone ( trimmed off ) i continued for about 2 more months and its been a year since and no problems . The Doctor told me Fungus cant live in a Vinegar enviroment but you have to keek it up till the nail grows completly out , and soaking was to time consuming , so i use my technique .
Avatar f tn I unexpectedly got nail fungus last year, and I treated it with topical tea tree oil and I took Dr Mercola's Probiotic Packs Daily for bout 2 monts, it cleared it up and they have been fine since.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Did you have a toe nail bed infection in addition to the toe nail fungus? Did your toe nail fall off or did it just penetrate the nail itself? I am taking the oral Lamisil (luckily my insurance pays for it) and so far so good (check my liver enzymes in a month). I am also taking sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for the anti bacterial. Yeah I know vinegar is a great cleaner and has many uses. We use it to clean our bathroom floors and even on pergo it doesn't seem to cause any damage.
Avatar m tn Fungal infection in toe nail needs long term treatment. The nail is the most difficult from where the fungus can be eradicated. You need take anti fungal tablet for at least 9-12 months. The entire nail plate takes 9-12 months to be replaced so you need to take this tablet for long time. No topical drugs only will be effective. Please talk to your physician for this. Wishing you good health.
Avatar f tn When I became pregnant almost 3 years ago I developed a nail fungus which I could not treat as I was pregnant. I left it and did nothing about it. After my baby was born nail got worse , and other sytoms emerged like irregular period ,bad breath , skin problems , skin ichy , tiredness , lack of breath. I struggled with nail fungus for 2 years it was getting worse and better. I am also very sensitive to certain food. I cannot treat the nail fungus with medication as I am breastfeeding my baby.
Avatar f tn I want to know why my toe nail has looked like this for a long time. And why are my feet so dry. They never have moisture. Will apple cider vinegar baths help? How long should I do them.
Avatar n tn Hi, Since your nail condition has not been given proper diagnosis ,you may discuss with your physician a nail biopsy. Nail biopsy is done to determine the cause of the condition. Based on the results of the biopsy, your physician may opt for nail surgery as a method of treatment. For patient who underwent nail surgery indications include chronic infections like fungal infections , nail tumors (which I believe is not applicable in your case) and in some trauma and unknown causes. Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and was told I had nail fungus and needed Lamisil. One tablet, once a day for 3 months. They took and ran tests of my blood to test my liver and they said all tests came back normal. They went ahead and said to begin taking the medication. I'm 21 and relatively healthy. I'm afraid to take Lamisil though. I've heard the side effects are horrible. Should I be worried?
Avatar m tn He has had all lab tests possible done and everything comes back normal. He does have toe nail fungus real bad on his left foot and wondering if that could be the contributing factor to the swelling and redness not going away.
Avatar m tn About 10 years ago I went to the nail salon and added nail tips to my fingernails. A week later I went back to remove them. Soon after removing the nail tips, I started noticing my nails on my thumbs started to change colors. I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus.
Avatar f tn The doctor didn't mention fungus. How can you tell if it is that? I always thought a fungus would smell bad wouldn't it? The nail isn't raised, hasn't been damaged and doesn't smell. I don't know exactly when it appeared because I only noticed it when I removed my nail varnish, which wasn't chipped or damaged as I guess it would have been if it had been knocked. I am hoping I am just paranoid now....
Avatar f tn They are thick, yellowish and crumbly. I keep them clean and dry and soak them in vinegar water a few times a week (although I have not been faithful). There is hardening of the skin around the big toe and bottom heel area, which are prone to cracking. The right foot is healthy, however. I moisturize and keep my feet clean and dry, and understand I can probably never rid the foot of the fungus.
Avatar n tn Empty the tub and fill it with Luke warm water and add 1cup of Apple cider vinegar containing the mother. Soak for 20 mins. Do not Rinse off afterwards. The smell of the vinegar will wear off once your dry. This will kill it and keep it away if you do this twice a week. And a plus is if you soak your hair too there will be no need for conditioning you hair from this point on. You'll be surprised the difference in you skin and hair!
Avatar n tn I have red spots on head of my penis. thought it was a fungus, but nothing helps.
Avatar n tn i used the vinegar until the wart became a black color- by using a small piece of cotton soak it in vinegar then apply it over affected area with a bandage over it. Its important to wrap it with bangage and leave it on for atleast for hrs or more..u can then remove to allow it to breathe but use clear nail polish over it when remove the bandage. then after it became a black color i started using tea tree oil aswell ..
1430129 tn?1283281475 I have a nail fungus that I've dealt with for nearly two years. I have had my doctor prescribe cream, I also took Lamisil (spelling?) I went to the dermatologist with my son yesterday, and he told me to file the side of my nail with the fungus all the way down, he said in order to get rid of the fungus that's in my nail, I have to get rid of that part of my nail. Is this true? I also think I have a fungus on one of my toenails.
