Nail fungus toes

Common Questions and Answers about Nail fungus toes

nail

Avatar n tn It appears as though both of my big toes have a new nail growing in underneath the old nail. The old Nail is raised up quite a bit compared to the new growth, which is about 1/4". I also can see a line on both nails that appears to be where the new nail is at, and that is about 75% to the end of my toe. The new nail looks totally fine. I'm 25 years old. None of my other toenails are affected. No pain or other symptoms of any kind.
Avatar m tn I have toe nail fungus on several toes on one foot. Is there a home cure? This discussion is related to TOENAIL FUNGUS.
Avatar f tn I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment. I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared.
Avatar n tn I was okay trying to control(possibly) the fungus on my toes and my thumb and index fingernails. Now it needs like what my wife is having(black dot on her thumb) now resembles what I had once upon a time. I don't want her to fight with fungus. I did see a dermatolgist yesterday and she said my toes are likely fungus-related but she had I didn't have enough nail for samples. Prescribed me Penlac(sp?) and asked me to go back when the toenails grow out... I am so confused now.
Avatar m tn It has yellowing underneath the nail, like a fungus which the dermatologist tested for and was negative, and whiteness on top where the nail looks dead, and you can see the new nail underneath. The doctor didn't think I had damaged the nail bed because it was growing out straight, but is funny looking. He prescribed a urea nail stick to aid with the fungus like matter under the fingernail.
Avatar m tn t realize. Your doctor looked at it but these are also fungus symptoms to just be aware of. My nail actually eventually grew to the right shape but always was very thick after (CAN cut it with nail scissors though) but is almost like an area between the nail bed and the nail is always there on one side. I just paint them. Keep them trimmed and paint them. Toes are a pain in the butt.
Avatar m tn Carefully trim any loose nail portions off as they grow, including any spots with nail separation. Cutting off the loose nail and then doing the oil is key to curing this.
Avatar m tn the fungus now has a great area to thrive. cut all the free nail back. apply Lamisil cream (over the counter) to the area daily. if you don't see improvement, see your podiatrist.
Avatar n tn I too have toenail fungus on both big toes & for many years. Have had one of them removed just to have it grow back the same after 2 removals. From my understanding one must use both an oral med along with a topical med if it is truly toenail fungus. I suffer from multiple skin cancers & have had 6 surgeries in 6 weeks with about a year more to go as I also have RA & thus a lousy healing & immune system.
1002512 tn?1265438579 Im having a hard time finding articles regarding horizontal ridges in toenails.. Since my symptoms started a year ago (numbness, shooting pains, forgetfullness, arm and leg weakness and fatigue just to name a few).. my big toes' nails have deep horizontal ridges, a few of my other toes have this as well however they are not as deep... My nails are normal in colour so I do not think it is a fungus... These ridges are not growing out.. prior to all of this.. my toe nails were beautiful!!
Avatar f tn The doctor didn't mention fungus. How can you tell if it is that? I always thought a fungus would smell bad wouldn't it? The nail isn't raised, hasn't been damaged and doesn't smell. I don't know exactly when it appeared because I only noticed it when I removed my nail varnish, which wasn't chipped or damaged as I guess it would have been if it had been knocked. I am hoping I am just paranoid now....
Avatar n tn Then went on line to a vitamin store and bought three different treatmnts for toe nail fungus. The one thing I used 2-3 times a day was nail repair tea tree oil and I bought oreagano oil caps and opened one of themand put the oil in the nail repair. It worked really well. I have been able to keep it under control. I use this 1 -2 times everyday! I apply it after every shower.
Avatar n tn About 9 months ago i had a ingrown toe nail and some noted fungas in both big toes, was treat with lamisil but i only took it for about 3 weeks one toe cleared but the other didn't. since then the fungas grew in that one toe and caused it to become thick and painful. i have to admit i don't take care of my feet like i should and i almost never cut my toe nail unless it hurts and my job requires me to be on my feet in closed shoes.
483814 tn?1214311480 One thing I have noticed in is the nail on the big toe on one foot is brown while the nail on the other big toes is a funky whitish band through the middle. Is this familiar to anyone and what can I do about it? I don't want to bring it up to my doctor because she follows up on my blood work by phone. If I mention it to her then she will make me come into the office. I can't afford to go in the office very often because it is twenty miles from home.
Avatar n tn ve added some photos of his fingers and a side profile of his thumb so you can see the puffiness. The black on the nail is from him slamming it at work. His nails and toes are generally discolored and yellow. Any suggestions?
Avatar f tn I just took my BLUE nail polish off and my nails are orange? Wtf lol I don't smoke and it won't come off with nail polish remover. Did blue polish really stain my nails orange or is there something else going on?
Avatar n tn My other big toenail is separating from the nail bed on one side. The nail on that part (about 1/4 of the nail in a stripe) is yellowish and has dark stuff underneath that I occasionally clean out (and it smells bad too). I also have what looks like very dry skin all over the bottom of my foot and heel. I had athlete's foot for years until about 10 years ago when I took a medicine (by mouth) that got rid of it once and for all-could this be related to the athlete's foot?

Avatar f tn s worth mentioning that the capillaroscopy was performed on my hands. After those 5-6 months, the nail started growing onwards again, but when the new nail tissue started appearing, it seemed like the old nail was growing in layers. The new tissue seemed completely normal. Everything was OK until a year ago, when it happened again. Now, it's happening on my other big toe as well. I should mention that my index toes are now growing slower than the rest.
Avatar m tn You may have developed nail fungus; it won’t hurt you, but it can look ugly.
Avatar m tn The only problem is my toe nails are getting darker. It started of by the small toe nail and spreading to every toe. I saw my GP and was put on Terbinafine and it stopped spreading but my toes remained black. I stopped taking the drugs because it could harm my liver function and I cannot be taking the drug all my life. The discolouring is spreading to other toes, it is embarrassing. What else can i do or use.
