Avatar m tn I have toe nail fungus on several toes on one foot. Is there a home cure? This discussion is related to TOENAIL FUNGUS.
2209241 tn?1339023213 It sounds like you have toenail fungus. You need to take an antifungal medicine orally (Lamisil) for 3 months and you will lose the nail(s). The natural remedies don't work to my knowledge as you have penetrate the nail and the other drugs don't do that.
1177448 tn?1295081220 i am 22 year old male i have toe nail fungus from the past 1 month , tell me how to get rid of it and how long it will take. can i apply any antifungal cream on it ?
Avatar m tn He has had all lab tests possible done and everything comes back normal. He does have toe nail fungus real bad on his left foot and wondering if that could be the contributing factor to the swelling and redness not going away.
Avatar m tn re not talking about nail fungus, but I had success in killing a nail fungus that started in my big toe after the bed of the nail had been damaged at one point. Undiluted white vinegar is a great anti-fungal and anti-bacterial. The beauty of it is that it's not a pharmaceutical and isn't likely to cause any harm, since it's used externally.
Avatar f tn Your history does suggest a pigmentary disorder and why not get an opinion instead of worrying it over?
Avatar m tn About 10 years ago I went to the nail salon and added nail tips to my fingernails. A week later I went back to remove them. Soon after removing the nail tips, I started noticing my nails on my thumbs started to change colors. I went to the dermatologist and they prescribed Penlac to treat the nail fungus. After using Penlac for a while I noticed that it was not working for me. After that, I went back to the dermatologist and they did a culture and they said it was a fungus.
Avatar n tn It appears as though both of my big toes have a new nail growing in underneath the old nail. The old Nail is raised up quite a bit compared to the new growth, which is about 1/4". I also can see a line on both nails that appears to be where the new nail is at, and that is about 75% to the end of my toe. The new nail looks totally fine. I'm 25 years old. None of my other toenails are affected. No pain or other symptoms of any kind.
1430129 tn?1283281475 I have a nail fungus that I've dealt with for nearly two years. I have had my doctor prescribe cream, I also took Lamisil (spelling?) I went to the dermatologist with my son yesterday, and he told me to file the side of my nail with the fungus all the way down, he said in order to get rid of the fungus that's in my nail, I have to get rid of that part of my nail. Is this true? I also think I have a fungus on one of my toenails.
Avatar f tn //www.healthline.com/health/home-remedies-for-toenail-fungus Tree Tea oil is very popular, for example. Really important that if you shower in a shower that others use that you wear shower shoes. They can actually get your toe fungus otherwise. Medication for fungus may help the other spots on your foot which could be athlete's foot. You could try your cream on that or the tree tea oil and if your doctor will prescribe medication, that would likely help.
Avatar f tn I went to the doctor and was told I had nail fungus and needed Lamisil. One tablet, once a day for 3 months. They took and ran tests of my blood to test my liver and they said all tests came back normal. They went ahead and said to begin taking the medication. I'm 21 and relatively healthy. I'm afraid to take Lamisil though. I've heard the side effects are horrible. Should I be worried?
Avatar f tn I might be in the wrong forum as well but I was prescribed lamisil after a positive test for Onychomycosis on my toenails. I was told to take one tablet a day for 3 months. My doctor did check my liver before starting and he called to say everything was normal and to go forth with the treatment. I've heard so many bad things from hair loss, death, loss of taste and I'm so scared.
Avatar f tn I unexpectedly got nail fungus last year, and I treated it with topical tea tree oil and I took Dr Mercola's Probiotic Packs Daily for bout 2 monts, it cleared it up and they have been fine since.
483814 tn?1214311480 Sounds like toenail fungus. Unfortunately the drugs that take care of it (lamasil and sporanox) are really harsh on your liver. Show your doc next time you're in the office. I wouldn't make a special trip unless its really bothering you. Meanwhile, don't file those nails, that spreads the fungus. It takes a long time to get rid of it. Good luck.
Avatar n tn I have tried to research these symptoms but most sites only mention certain breeds,he is a Moutain Feist mix. I would just like to know what is wrong and if there is any home remedies or medicine we could try.
1415174 tn?1453243103 Did you have a toe nail bed infection in addition to the toe nail fungus? Did your toe nail fall off or did it just penetrate the nail itself? I am taking the oral Lamisil (luckily my insurance pays for it) and so far so good (check my liver enzymes in a month). I am also taking sulfamethoxazole/trimethoprim for the anti bacterial. Yeah I know vinegar is a great cleaner and has many uses. We use it to clean our bathroom floors and even on pergo it doesn't seem to cause any damage.
Avatar n tn Hi, Since your nail condition has not been given proper diagnosis ,you may discuss with your physician a nail biopsy. Nail biopsy is done to determine the cause of the condition. Based on the results of the biopsy, your physician may opt for nail surgery as a method of treatment. For patient who underwent nail surgery indications include chronic infections like fungal infections , nail tumors (which I believe is not applicable in your case) and in some trauma and unknown causes. Avatar m tn no no ,, my nails kinda look normal but thier is about 15 or so ridges they are like groves and its not a fungus , acctually I got a fungus several years ago and this thing killed it , it took a year to do it and the nail had a horizontal line as the fungus grew off,, and i've seen the pitcher in a magizine of what I have ,, and the drops were just 19.
Avatar n tn I was okay trying to control(possibly) the fungus on my toes and my thumb and index fingernails. Now it needs like what my wife is having(black dot on her thumb) now resembles what I had once upon a time. I don't want her to fight with fungus. I did see a dermatolgist yesterday and she said my toes are likely fungus-related but she had I didn't have enough nail for samples. Prescribed me Penlac(sp?) and asked me to go back when the toenails grow out... I am so confused now.

Avatar m tn I have tried pills-- for ten days and once a week and a few different creams as well as home remedies which tending to burn like hell. Any suggestions? This discussion is related to Underarm fungus.
Avatar n tn Hello, From the symptoms fungal infections of the nail need to be ruled out. In onychomycosis(nail fungal infection) nail plate can have a thickened, yellow, or black appearance. The nails can become rough and crumbly, or can separate from the nail bed. Topical and oral antifungals are needed which are available under prescription. My sincere advice would be to consult a dermatologist and get a KOH examination of the nail and skin specimen done to confirm the diagnosis.
